Ok so here's a gun thread to talk all things guns. Wondering was right, I should've started this at her suggestion before derailing my own thread about friends. Notice I didn't post this in political forum? Let's not make it entirely a debate about rights blah blah blah.

But anything else goes.

I've been a gun nut pretty much my whole life. Carried one more often than not..and never have got into trouble with a gun. Because my dad taught me to respect life and walk with honor.

But a funny thing I've noticed. Since I've been walking with the Lord, I feel less of a need to go about armed, and am not all about buying more more more anymore...it is enough, as it is written.

I depend on the Lord more than anything now.

I've never shot a gun, never hunted, held a gun once as a kid in a youth program. Gun was empty. I was held up working at a gas station. Two guns pointed at my face. So guns scare me. Which is why I don't have one. If I did, I'd get massive training on how to use it properly. Still I'm a huge fan of gun rights. And I respect those that choose to open or conceal carry (like my brother in law). I'm glad for people like that.

I know you're a big-bore guy, Edward, very cool. I'm mostly a 9mm guy, but I also luvs the kick from a .357 Magnum snub. I've shot .44 and .45, but never owned either.

I was talking with my father in law about being a believer and carry and conceal. He does not get the whole your protected, listen to the Holy Spirit thing. We have angels standing by, no need for a gun. However, you have a gun, you take it if the Holy Spirit prompts you to take it, If you get a check, leave it at home. If we are led, things work out awesome.

God is not opposed to using weapons, He is opposed if we take the weapon for protection. Just like David counted to see if He had enough troops to win.

Same here. I got 6" groups @ 100 yds with a 24x target scope. So I came up with the Accu-strut. Instantly got 1.5" groups. People on another gun forum convinced me to sell them, so I started it as a side business. What I do full-time now.

Really! I remember...we may have talked before on TFL...years ago now . (They booted me for mentioning God!)

That's about what my mini was doing at 100 yds. I was able to get my groups down to 3 1/2" or so with carefully constructed heavy bullet loads. but who afford to keep feeding it match bullets?

I think the biggest problem all along with the mini's is too fast of a twist.

What else would be the reason to carry a gun but for protection?

I don't know, taking your gun out would certainly in my mind be thinking I better bring this along just in case. However, some folks who really like guns and the fact they have a right to carry one might not think that way. Just being able to carry it with no thought of having a situation to where they need to use it might be in their mind. All these years, I have not had a situation where I wish I had a gun with me, so it's not like we are going into battle.

Most people that get shot on the street, never have time to respond anyway before the first bullet hits them.

A good question if you have a carry permit. I am not a gun enthusiast enough to just want to have a gun with me without the thoughts of possibly having to use it to protect me or someone. Someone else might think of it differently though.

One thing is for sure, if your trusting in a gun, lock or other things to protect you, then God is not your first protector and that is a bad thing. We lived in the hood and our door did not lock, it was broken. Never thought a thing about it, because if someone wanted into any house they certainly could very easy get in. Door locks are just a mind protection game anyway.

The devil has to have a place to get you, if we don't give him that place, nothing on earth can touch us.

We have talked gun before, Edward. Good times. My original Mini is a 1.5 minute-of-angle shooter with strut installed using factory budget loads, not match-grade ammo.

I carry one when I go hunting. Don't have a carry permit so I am not allowed to carry it on a moving vehicle unless it is unloaded and cased. I've thought about getting a permit so I could carry it in my vehicle instead of having to always unload and case it. Might be a little handier that way.
