The Life and the Blood

It is looking forward to the OT sacrifices which in turn are looking to Jesus's sacrifice.
Blood doesn't save. It is Jesus's atoning death and resurrection that saves.
To shed someones blood is to kill them. It is litteraly what hapens if you stab someone, there is blood everywhere!
( not that I've done it.)
Blood is a vissible symbol of what is important for life so to spill it as a sacrifice is both costly and fatal.

But Jesus is likened to the Passover of the angel of death in Exodus chapter 12. It was the blood on the door frame that saved those inside that house.
Sacrificed animals bled to death.
It seems like the blood is an important aspect of Christianity.

“Your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground. And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand” (Gen 4:10-11).
Abel himself never speaks in Genesis but, the life in his blood sure did. So, even after death, there seems to be life in his blood. I say God has a blood economy...as a friends signature on another forum says "The mosquito that bit me flies away singing there is power in the blood" Lol...but, you know what I mean...
Then there's:
Leviticus 17:11
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life."
I can only imagine how bloody the temple altar was with all of the animal sacrifices that were done...that's a LOT of blood.

It means exactly what it says. Without the continuous circulation of blood within a living organism, there can be no life. All essential nutrients enter the tissues and organs through the blood. Which means that a serious loss of blood results in death.
It is not merely "the blood" but the shed blood of the Lamb of God (the Lord Jesus Christ) which cleanses the souls of sinners supernaturally, and thus saves them from wrath. The Bible says that we are "washed" in His blood, and this is a purely spiritual and supernatural washing.
When the Lamb of God (also the ultimate Passover Lamb) died on the cross, He offered Himself as a "whole burnt offering" for sin, while He also poured out His blood for our redemption. And just as the blood of the Passover lamb was applied to the door posts and lintels to protect the Hebrew children from wrath, the blood of Christ is applied to our souls to save us from wrath. And it keeps on cleansing us from all our sins, as we confess and repent.
No one can understand these spiritual truths simply with the rational mind. But they can be comprehended by the spirit.

And, if you think about it, there was NO other way for God to procure our salvation but through sacrificing not the blood of animals but of Himself, through the person of Jesus. It could ONLY have been Him as only He is perfect! ♥

For a testament (will) is of force AFTER MEN ARE DEAD, otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
And almost all things are by law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Cain rejected Gods mercy and whinged about the result, even when given undeserved grace he did not honour God.

God has always commanded us to give Him our best offering/sacrifice, just as He gave us His best offering through the sacrifice of His only begotten son who literally shed His blood that we can have life through Him and with Him. Our Spiritual life is truly in the blood of the Lamb.

What's interesting is that it says the soul is in the blood. The word translated life is actually the word nephesh, soul.
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.
6 Whoso s (Gen. 9:4-6 KJV)
The words in red are Nephesh, soul. This passage tells us the life, nephesh, is the blood.
