Remember that interesting story in Genesis 15 concerning Abraham wanting to know the surety of his inheritance.. So The Lord showed him the future.. as horrifying as it was to see it... The Lord showed him anyway..

And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.

And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.

And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

Amazing story.. God showing Abraham the future..

The Lord showed Abraham the future.. It's a simple biblical fact.. And yet today anyone who believes in the future prophecy and promises of God is basically said to standing on false promises.

Abraham certainly wasn't.. And neither is any believer today in Christ.

The world to come...

It's an extremely poor testimony when the church of God doesn't know what's to come in the future.. because that's one of the things which the Spirit of God does.. reveals things to come..

The Spirit of God always testifies to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ in all things.. and once again, He shall show you things to come..

Such as the world to come.. in that Day.. the Day of the Lord, the Day of Jesus Christ..

Sad isn't it.. there are many today who couldn't explain a single thing that's coming in the future.. and think about what that ultimately reveals.. if it's the Spirit of God who does reveal the things to come..

This do in remembrance of Me..

The body of Christ comes together to remember the Lord Jesus Christ in His death, til He comes.... right ?

Do we at least understand that much ? The Lord's Supper ? At His table.. fellowship in Christ within the body of Christ..

The body of Christ patiently awaits the adoption, to wit; the redemption of our bodies.. even we who have the firstfruits of the SPIRIT.. and that's our HOPE.. remembering Him in the way that HE gave Himself for us.. the spotless Lamb and eternal Son of God.. died for our sins on that forsaken cross.. to bring us back to His Father.

We can't even begin to understand the depth of that.. and we certainly cannot begin to understand the depths of the things which shall be hereafter.. when HE DOES COME.. even for US.. His church.. His wife to be at the most staggering event we could ever possibly begin to imagine..

The marriage of the Lamb (of God) to His wife.. the body of Christ.. the church of God.

The things ABOVE...

An interesting thing which the body of Christ should NOT be doing is this..

Setting our affections on the things which are on EARTH...

That's amazing in itself isn't it.. why in the world would that be..?

Because ye are DEAD and your LIFE is hid IN CHRIST with GOD.. and when HE APPEARS.. CHRIST.. Who IS OUR LIFE, we shall appear WITH HIM in glory...

When He comes the second time, apart from sin, for salvation.. in that Day.. the Day of the Lord.. the Day of Jesus Christ.. and He that hath begun a GOOD WORK in you shall perform it.. even until the Day of Jesus Christ..

And that is our glorious hope.. resting in the immutable promises of God in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We all know that this particular prophecy of the future has already been fulfilled,,, right?

Of course it has.. although your question seems to be missing the point entirely.

God did show Abram the future.. that's the simple biblical principle here..

The Spirit of God also shows us things to come.. just as He showed Abraham things to come..

And there are obviously a gazillion other examples in the scriptures where the LORD revealed the future.. although imo Abraham is always a seemingly best example to use as he is the father of faith.. embracing the promises of God.. even though he saw them afar off..

so where do men and women like me stand?

so he didnt see you? the father of many NATIONS? the word there is goyim not gentile. he is your father by faith as well?im in christ not in isreal.isreal didnt die for me, or did it?

my identity is in christ. paul wrote to the jews and gentiles, and peter called them with the jews a peculiar nation and priesthood. i didnt know that if a jew is in isreal, he doesnt need the cross when the sanhedrin proclaim the messiah.

Some folks believe Jesus revealed the future destruction of Jerusalem to the guys at Mt Olives.

Deu 18:22 - When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that [is] the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, [but] the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Thus we have a problem in not accepting that Jesus' words have come to pass.

It should be obvious that many are completely obsessed with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD and are completely blind to the things which are and to the things which shall be hereafter..

So once again..

If the Spirit of God shows us things to come.. and many are clueless as to what is to come..

Then do the math...

In the OT we read of the warnings to the Israelites over and over.. I just dont believe God would have Jerusalem destroyed with out warning..... The war/destruction of 70 Ad is history. Trouble is, if one thinks Jesus was warning the guys about it it throws the theology of " this generation" all out of whack.
With out being totally correct in my choice of words..... i see small bit of the NT like this.... Mat 23/24 is pretty much about 70 ad..... John 5 & 6 are yet to come...

At least you can see that there actually are things to come...

There is absolutely no doubt that the destruction of Jerusalem was clearly revealed before it ever came to pass... Just as there is absolutely no doubt that Jerusalem will be delivered in the time of the end.

clueless?

really. i understand isreal far more then you a gentile will ever know.i have spent hours and time looking into jewry. learning and reading what i can. little is what i do know. but i know that what you say about isreal is off.

first off to the jews, if one is a christian he isnt in isreal. why? because isreal to them is like our christian faith. its a culture. christians being so gentile and greek like dont understand that. the church isnt a building but people., just like jews say. isreal isnt a land but people.so long as there is a jew alive there will be isreal alive.

hmmm.

It's simple to actually see if anyone has a clue or not concerning the things to come

Simply ask them what are the things to come.. :)

Abraham knew the future hundreds of years in advance.. just as any born again Christian today will know the things to come..

then why didnt justin martyr see it your way? he never talked about a future with isreal and the church removed. he talked about christ coming to reign from jerusalem for a thousand years but the dead werent raised until after.hmm close to johns day and that is how they were. show us how they didnt even understand that stuff.

he even mentions that not all christians believed in a millenium then!!!!!!!!!
