What I actually said was:
At least by this ⬆️ statement you’re now a little closer to what Paul actually said than you were before by claiming Paul is ‘warning’ the church not to be a partaker of God’s wrath.

The snip you quoted was what you are claiming, not what I believe. If you take a snip here and a snip there, anyone can come up with all kinds of misconceptions.
Paul is absolutely warning us, not to be partakers of God’s wrath that is coming upon the sons of disobedience.

Is God’s wrath sinful?

What is it that Paul’s warn the Church, that the sons of disobedience will partake of?
Paul’s not warning the church.

Do you believe that a Christian’s flesh will inherit the Kingdom of God?

You will need to answer my question(s), going on three now, 1 in this thread and two in the other.

Question -

  • What is it that Paul’s warns the Church, that the sons of disobedience will partake of?

Paul plainly says the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, because of “these things”.

You yourself have admitted such.

For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.
Ephesians 5:5-7

  • because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

The sons of disobedience will partake of God’s wrath, because of “these things”.

Great posts.

It's astonishing and sad to see how rampant antinomianism has become in modern Protestantism.

Fix the assumptions build into your questions and I’ll answer them.

When you ask a question like; “What is it that Paul’s warns the Church, that the sons of disobedience will partake of?” it’s like asking the question; “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?”

Both questions have built in assumptions that have not been demonstrated to be true.

Paul’s not “warning” the church about anything. He’s telling them not to be participating in the unfruitful works of darkness.

Which is why I asked you if you think God’s wrath is sinful (a work of darkness).

No assumption in my question.

I rephrased the question so you can understand it better.

How can we expect that God will punish unbelievers for practicing the works of the flesh (sin) while excusing disobedient Christians of the same practice, when they have the power to practice righteousness?

That is a total misrepresentation of our God who is righteous and just.

"those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."
The above is echoed in the following verses
about NOT inheriting the kingdom of God:
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Galatians 5:19-21
Ephesians 5:3-7

I call these "sin list verses".

There are other similar verses ...
which don't mention inheriting the kingdom.
My favorite of these is Revelation 21:7-8.

I understood your questions. Just like I understand the question; Have you stopped beating your wife yet? They both have a built in premise that’s not been shown to be true.
What is it that Paul’s warns the Church, that the sons of disobedience will partake of?

I don’t agree that I’ve ever started beating my wife (because I haven’t) nor do I agree that Paul’s warning the church (because he’s not).

You could rephrase your question without your assumption quite simply by asking a different question; What is it that Paul tells the Church, that the sons of disobedience will partake of?

More stalling and dodging?

Paul instructs, teaches, admonishes, and warns of the wrath of God coming upon the sons of disobedience.

This warning is written to the Church, to warn those to whom it applies.

Why wouldn’t we want to warn the sons of disobedience to repent and believe the Gospel, so they can avoid partaking of the wrath of God.

IOW the warning is to it applies.

Question -

  • What is it that Paul’s warns or teaches or instructs (whichever word you want to use) the Church, that the sons of disobedience will partake of?

Paul says it’s the wrath of God.

What do you say, Chessman?
