in schools they can't stop you on your time praying ,and reading your bible .

while its true that the alcu has tried to block students in sport events and graduation from this .

There have been many cases in which schools have tried to stop students from praying. Students have been unfairly suspended for doing such, and other schools realize that is they do such that it's a lawsuit waiting to happen and don't take action against it. Some students have been asked to pray where no one can see them in school or on their own time at home. Some have been flat out told not to pray in school. Some schools have tried with great effort to silence such students. Most of the time it's considered it's okay as long as it doesn't "disturb other students." You get that one disturbed person and it'll blow up into some big thing.

There was a teacher in Florida that forbade a student to read their Bible in the classroom. The Liberty Institute became involved. The school had to cave and allow it due to religious freedoms and civil rights. If you do read a Bible in a public school, though - be prepared to be harassed at some point.

It is nice that the school had to apologize because of those rights and religious freedoms. In a world where legal matters present themselves unexpectedly, it is good when the law is more for God rather than against.

The school may have a leg to stand on here. It would depend on whether or not the student was reading his/her Bible in class when he/she was supposed to be studying and/or paying attention to what was being taught.

That's the thing, like most of the news we see shared on social media, people only give part of the story that fits their personal narrative. For example, I've been seeing some videos from the body cams of the police officers involved with the George Floyd incident and I've been coming away with a completely different view of what happened. The cry was police brutality and racism but I'm not seeing much that indicates racism or brutality. While George's death was tragic and unwarranted, he was far from innocent in the situation. There is also information that indicates that the neck hold was taught to the officers as a method of detaining a potentially violent individual so the officer involved might have been doing exactly what he was taught to do. Maybe he put too much weight on George, maybe not so George's death may have been accidental or a result of carelessness but I am one who is questioning a racial motivation. This is why we have court systems and due process. People go off half-cocked based on one video and without knowing all the details. That's why I posted early on that one video does not make a case.

In the promised land God ordained the Israelites to set aside cities of refuge (Joshua 20-1-9) where a person may flee from the avenger of death in the event of the death of another. The Bible also spoke about the need for multiple witnesses for a conviction (Deuteronomy 19:15-21).

In the George Floyd incident, the police offer(s) and all police enforcers in the US were accused, tried, convicted, and in some cases sentenced to death all based on one video and no court action. How much more anti-American can we get?

The case I am referring to (and I know there were a lot of them and I didn't specify) is the one of Giovanni Rubeo. The Bible was read in their free reading time. If they were purposefully being disruptive then I can totally understand how that would be a totally different matter. I mean, I can believe the story and yes, the media could possibly leave things out as they often tend to do.

I remember seeing harassment and experiencing harassment in school for being a Christian and for the times I read a Bible in my own free time at school. People aren't always so nice so the story is completely believable to me.

No one or anything can take God away from us, I just know that religious freedom rights are definitely important because when those are gone then we aren't protected and persecution is allowed to ensue. I suppose we see examples of that already in the world where there aren't laws to protect religious freedoms (N/S Korea, India, Syria, China, etc. etc.), which makes it dangerous for many religions, Christians included.

Christianity should be allowed anywhere and everywhere. What is a prayer, a form of communication with the most high, it should be allowed in schools, and even at work.

Harassment from who? Other students? That is not uncommon.

It is allowed in schools. Any student can pray. The school, however, cannot sanction a prayer or put aside time for prayer in the classroom. That would be government establishing a religion and a violation of our 1st amendment rights.

i agree, we should keep the state out of the things of God. why? yeah politics and how the laws work and enforced are never simply for the good of the populous but that is another thread. if one wants i can back this up.
