No, it's not currently in the process of being built but, they have prepared everything necessary to build it.

Yes it’s in the process of being built which means the preparations are being made.

Declaring Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel was just another preparation in a long list of preparations that have been going on for years and will continue until it is complete.

“Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), Matthew 24:15

Daniel gives us some understanding.

“Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
The street shall be built again, and the wall,
Even in troublesome times.
Daniel 9:25

The restoration of the city of Jerusalem and the Temple was decreed to take place and it did.

By the time the Messiah came on the scene the temple was built.

Approximately 28 AD.

And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined. Daniel 9:26

Then in 70 AD the Romans destroyed it again, which is indicated here in verse 26.

And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.

Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”
Daniel 9:27

Now we see some time after 70 AD that Temple activities will resume, which to this day has not taken place.

Paul in his second letter to the Thessalonians
Indicates the false messiah will go to the temple and proclaim himself as God, then end up being destroyed by the Lord Himself at His coming, which will be on the last Day when He gathers His people at the resurrection and rapture.

Therefore the temple will be built between now and the coming of the Lord.

Yes you are right. JLB & For_His_Glory is right about the God not dwelling there. However like you JLB said the Jews do not believe in the Messiah and are in the process of building a new temple.
Here we need to look at it from the perspective of the orthodox Jews whom do not believe that the Messiah ( Jesus Christ) has come yet. There is room for the Temple & Dome of the rock on the temple mount.

Revelation 11:2 (KJV) But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

You can see here that the outer court is not included "for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months." This also tells us that it will take place in the last half of the 7 years. Therefore the 3rd temple most be built in the first half of the last 7 years.

I know the scriptures you gave and I agree with you except there being a third temple built. Even now the Dome of the Rock is being refurbished for the son of Perdition (not a Muslim) to take his seat within it and also being the holy place of God meaning the very ground it sits on not the building itself.

This is how I understand Matthew 24:15. Standing in the holy place means the very temple mount where both Temples use to stand before the second one was destroyed in 70AD as Jesus said it would be destroyed. The land God gave to Israel where the Temples were built was and still is holy ground. From 70AD to around 692AD the original temple mount laid barren as there was no attempt made to build a third temple. The Muslims took over the mount and built the Dome of the Rock on it as their only want is to destroy God's people.

The city and the sanctuary still stand the same today as Jerusalem has always been the holy city and the sanctuary of God has always been His people.

Jesus fulfilled everything the temple stood for being the last sacrificial lamb taking away all the sin of the world. God no longer dwells in a temple made by hands, Acts 7:48-50; 17:22-31; Hebrews 10:7-18. The Temple of God now dwells in all who are Spiritually born again and indwelled with the Holy Spirit, John 3:5-7; Romans 10:9, 10.

I see no reason why there would even be a need of a temple as God is not going to sanctify it and make it holy nor dwell in it.

God has built (and is still building) His new temple.

Eph 2:19-22 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

1Co 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

1Co 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

Please understand why Jesus referred to Daniel.

Daniel 70 weeks is a prophetic time period where God specifically deals with the Jews and Jerusalem.

“Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.
Daniel 9:24

The “Temple of God” and “Holy Place” are specific references to the Temple associated with the Jewish people on the Temple Mount.

“Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. Matthew 24:15-20

again

Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4

Isaiah 14:...... I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

2 Thessalonians 2:4..........so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

I truly believe the temple of God in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 is a "so called" church of God as also being the mount of the congregation on the sides of the north where the Dome of the Rock sits. The Dome of the Rock is even now in the process of a refurbished replica church for the son of perdition to take his literal seat as both the Muslims and this so called church will share this place to worship their gods as a peace treaty is in the works between the two religions.

Antichrist first rose up out of the church, not the temple. Paul was writing this letter to the Thessalonians who were following false doctrines that crept into the church. Antichrist/son of perdition comes out from that which is the body of Christ and has nothing to do with Judaism or any literal third temple. The Muslims will never share any part of the temple mount with the Jews.

I think it's possible to spend too much effort trying to unravel the mysteries of future/end times events.
We are told some about those things but told a whole lot more about what to do with today.

So how could David ,not being a priest and also build an altar an offer and not die?

Also the prophet elijah did that too.

David built an altar at the threshing floor where God had chosen His temple to be built ((1 Chron. 21, 2 Samuel 24)), in obedience to The angel of the LORD.

Elijah is a more extraordinary case. in 1 Kings 18 he repairs an altar to the LORD at Mt. Carmel ((v.30)) that Ahab had torn down, there the 'showdown' between him and the prophets of Ba'al taking place. this was in the northern kingdom, while the nation was divided, the temple being in Jerusalem in the southern kingdom. in v.36 he prays, saying he has done these things at the LORD's command. the text says this was done at the time of the evening sacrifice - which, per Exodus 29, should have been a lamb, with its grain and oil offerings. Elijah however sacrifices a bull ((v.33)). this isn't meant to be, then, a replacement of the sacrifices to be presented at evening in the temple; Elijah is doing something else.

Only a priest could offer ,that means only they could under the Mosaic law.

David acted as a priest in atoning for the sib of himself and his people

You do know it's Lucifer/Satan/dragon or whatever name is given him that works through the beast out of the sea and out of the earth. Since Lucifer is a spirit he did claim to sit upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. It's Satan who gives power and authority to the beast out of the sea who the son of perdition exercises all the power of the first beast, Rev 13.

People meaning a so called church of God having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away, 2 Timothy 3:5.

I know this antichrist being the last one will be revealed as a (false Messiah), but not from the temple as per Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The seed of Abraham are those who are in Christ through the Spiritual rebirth which is the only way to inherit the kingdom of God, John 3:5-7. These certain Jews already rejected that which was before them generations ago and nailed Him to a cross. They still wait for a Priestly King to take a literal throne which is not going to happen.

They still wait for a Priestly King to take a literal throne which is not going to happen.

He will take His throne in Jerusalem when He returns with His saints.

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:31-34

again

And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
“The Lord is one,”
And His name one.
Zechariah 14:9

And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain. Zechariah 14:16-18

I'm not talking about the Messiah Christ Jesus who once came and will return on the last day. I'm talking about the generational Jews in whom the Jews before them also rejected Jesus as Messiah because He did not meet their expectations of a Priestly King, Isaiah 53:1-3.

The throne of His glory when Christ returns on the last day, John 6:40, will be the judgement seat of Christ at the great white throne judgement, Rev 20:11-15. This is after He makes an end to all abominations, Rev 19:11-21, then upon His throne He separates the sheep from the goats as final judgement is then given.

Acts 7:48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, 49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? 50 Hath not my hand made all these things?

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
