Mathew 27:51,52 "And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51Then behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;-----"
I always thought the meaning of the veil being torn was to show that through Jesus our High Priest, we now have access to the Most Holy Place. Before, only the priest of Israel, and then only once a year, was allowed in to offer the sin offering for the people. One reason for my interpreting it in this way is Hebrews 10: 19-22, but I never did a full exegesis on it. In another thread a different interpretation came up and it got me curious.

I would like to hear the thoughts and studies of others.

The veil of the Temple is now the flesh of Christ through His shed blood as He was the final blood sacrifice for sin. This fulfilled the Temple law of sacrifices through Christ.

The tearing down of the old veil is now renewed in Christ through the new covenant of God's grace through faith in Christ who now sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us.

Now we come to the Holy of Holies as Christ being our High Priest over the house of God. We are that house being the body of Christ, or in other words our body is the temple of God/Holy Spirit as we are no longer our own as we are bought with a price which is the blood of Christ in whom has made us clean by His blood, 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20.

I liked what you said about the torn veil signifying that the Temple law was fulfilled. Jesus is what the Temple sacrifices pointed to. Fulfilled. That is what I have always loved about the book of Hebrews, the way it ties it all together, the Levitical stipulations and ceremonies that are so clearly preparing the way for its fulfillment in Christ.
Another thing I noticed in the passage of the Temple veil in Matthew is that it was torn from top to bottom so there was no question that God did the tearing.

for_his_glory went into the above beautifully in a spiritual way in post no. 2....

All I'll say is that you're right in how you understand Mathew 27:51-52.

The veil was torn....it was opened; it was no longer closed to everyone except the High Priest, as you've stated.

High priest, Hebrew kohen gadol, in Judaism, the chief religious functionary in the Temple of Jerusalem, whose unique privilege was to enter the Holy of Holies (inner sanctum) once a year on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, to burn incense and sprinkle sacrificial animal blood to expiate his own sins and those of the people of Israel.

sourece: https://www.britannica.com/topic/hi...t, Hebrew kohen gadol,of the people of Israel.

Now, since Jesus opened the way, we are all welcomed into the tabernacle of God. We are the new temple and Jesus is the Holy of Holies.

Hebrews 3:1
Hebrews 9:11

Psalms 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

This just popped into my head as this is what we do when we enter the Holy of Holies through the gate of God's grace as I have done this many times making a joyful noise and coming before His presence with singing. Oh how the Spirit of God flows through me when I sing praises to His name.
