This is COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC however it is funny if you have been the target of email forwarders:

Excellent spoof! I even bookmarked it.

But as crazy as it sounds, there are indeed people who do forward and don't compose things by themselves, and I already made that comment sarcastically. Back in the days I had Microsoft, I actually read all unexpected emails in the source code (pity one has to operate that way) due to some in the family who forwarded viruses and malware links all the time. Another thing I did was automatically put a filter on all email that had Fw and Fwd on them --- it was a shame because some mail I missed was legit, but I could not risk another virus.

Now with the Ubuntu, I don't worry any longer and I allowed these "forwarders" to flood my inbox again and I can now click on anything. Some of the stuff is funny, and I don't have to pay a price of getting a virus just for a good laugh any longer.

Re: Off Topic Thread

I notice that Reba's link was parsed, so I put this in a quote box to get around the automatic parsers on the board. if that does not work, I will post again and play around with the URL

What does this mean?

What does this mean?

Parsing? with reference to computers it means to examine in a minute way : analyze critically

I said that I like you, reba. Oh, and that it's difficult for me to resist trying to answer questions.

I've tried using the CODE function so people can manually copy-n-paste into their browsers but it's a little too cumbersome.
Code:
[code]insert link here
http://screen.yahoo.com/sketchy-forwarders-050000283.html
[/code]

I think this problem stems from a link that refers to a link. Our "Video Function" (the movie icon) supports Hulu, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Google and FaceBook videos -----> but this one is from Y!Screen. Your link works (for me) and I can't tell you why, except to say it may have to do with the "parsing" issue that Grace mentions here: Post #7

It seems that you used the URL function to make it work.

Here is the same link with automatic parsing turned off

http://screen.yahoo.com/sketchy-forwarders-050000283.html

Notice that it does not have the ellipsis (the three dots) in it. Also, I have not used the URL function to enclose it. That's the problem with "parsing"

While we're talking about problems posting ...

I've attempted a few times over the last few days to post what are somewhat lengthy posts -- never been able to post any of them for the reason I'm about to discuss -- and have been confronted by an auto-response telling me the post is too long by well over 7,000 or more characters, 15,000 being the forum limit. The response doesn't make sense, even given numerous "quote-end quote" functions I've used (which I realize adds invisible characters, but not that many). I'm talking about a post that, when cut-and-pasted into MS Word, has about 4,500 characters in it, less than 1,000. When I've tried to post half the reply, splitting it into two posts, the same auto-response comes up telling me this time my post is over 30,000 characters too long. Keep in mind, this is when I'm trying to post half the reply I was attempting with the full post.

What's up with that?

It seems as if S P A C E S are also considered as characters. My advice to you is break it into two posts and label it "Part 1 of 2" and "part 2 of 2" if you think that all of that is essential

If you'll reread my complaint, you'll see that doing that resulted in the forum software telling me half that post had three-point-three times more characters than the whole post did. Also, note the sentence where I detailed how cutting and pasting into MS Word gave me a character count at 4,500, even with all the "hidden" characters that direct quotes and the end of quotes.

Thanks anyway.

Sorry that I did not see this earlier.

When I said "parsed" I meant compressed, (perhaps the better word) and some of the link was eliminated

Compare these:
screen.yahoo.com/sketchy-forwarders-050000283.html
and this:

Notice the ellipses (dots) after 'forw" and before 0500000..." When the post was originally posted, the dots were placed in the post by the software, and that is what caused the error in getting a blank page, or a "not found". By placing the correct URL (internet address) in the quotes, the computer at CF Net did not shorten the link.

What I placed in bold was the part left out.

Is that understandable?
