The true witness of the Holy Spirit is given by the scripture.

John 16:13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

The witness factor has been given: The Holy Spirit will not speak of Himself, but seek the glory of the Son.

Why is this pertinent in being a witness?

John 5: 31If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

One cannot bear witness of himself otherwise it is a false witness as Jesus said so.

John 7:18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

It is unrighteousness to speak of oneself in seeking his own glory and so the Holy Spirit will not speak of Himself in seeking His own glory but the glory of the Son.

We that are led by the Holy Spirit as a combined witness will be doing this:

John 15:26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 27And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

The Holy Spirit is God, but He is sent to not speak of Himself in seeking His won glory, but sent to testify of the Son in seeking His glory. The Holy Spirit is God and will not go against the Word of God, but wayward believers will by assuming that because the Holy Spirit is God, it is okay to worship the Holy Spirit with the Father and the Son when scriptures says the Holy Spirit in us would never lead a believer to do that.

Look at how John the Baptist had witnesses:

John 3:28Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. 29He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30He must increase, but I must decrease.

So the Holy Spirit as being the Faithful Witness will decrease so that the Son may increase in seeking the glory of the Son and thereby the Father's as well.

Since the Holy Spirit can never be a false witness: it is errant believers that are. This is how we grow in the word and prune away those things not of Him.

Let the scripture be our guide as the Holy Spirit in us is leading us to testify of the Son in seeking His glory as His name is above every other name: not the name of the "Trinity", but the name of Jesus Christ.

John 5:22For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

Honour the Father through the Son in prayer:

John 14:13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Honour the Father through the Son in worship...

Colossians 3:16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Honour the Father through the Son in fellowship:

1 Corinthians 2: 2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

This is the mind of Christ we are to have as the Holy Spirit is leading us to have.

Philippians 2:5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

So heed the invitation of the Bridegroom in how we are to come to God the Father through the Son in getting to know Him, because the Son, Jesus, really is the only way to approach God in prayer, worship, and fellowship in getting to know Him.

John 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

That is Whom the Holy Spirit and the faithful Bride is repeating the invitation to.

Revelation 22:16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

The only way we as faithful witness can do that is to do that which the Holy Spirit is sent to dwell within us to do, and that is to lead us to testify of the Son, the Good News to man.

How true and undeniable are the words of the Christ except to those who misunderstand and cannot discern the meaning and apply it properly. You have chosen excellent scripture here to make your point, or rather God has provided good instruction to inspire your choice of scripture. Glory be to God and His Son, Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is not an inferior member of the Trinity. He is God's Spirit. He is Jesus' Spirit. He is God. And He commands all the respect accorded to God by man.

And His ministry is not limited to glorifying Jesus. He has at His disposal all the resources of God and it is these resources that He shares with us. He is our lifeline to God and without Him we would be nothing. And when we don't listen to Him, it is then that we turn our backs on God. But when we listen to Him and walk with Him, it is then that we are fellowshipping with God.

Just because there are many false teachings about the Holy Spirit does not mean we should ignore Him. God living in our hearts is our greatest resource and we need to learn how to take full advantage of His presence. That is the key to living a successful Christian life.
