The Truth About Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ

On February 25th, 2004 , a new movie directed by superstar Mel Gibson opened in thousands of theatres throughout the United States . It was Ash Wednesday, as it is called by many, when the new movie, The Passion Of The Christ, was presented to the general public. The general consensus of massive multi-million dollar ministries was, "This is a ‘must-see’ movie!" At this point, we must remember that we are living in the end-time, and that these last days are days of great deception and strong delusion. Jesus himself said in Matthew 24:5, "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." The Mel Gibson movie presents a two-dimensional Christ who is found in the secret chambers called movie theatres where admission money must be paid or those chambers cannot be entered. In Matthew 24:26 Jesus said, "Wherefore if they shall say unto you" behold he is in the secret chambers: believe it not." In Luke 17:22 Jesus said, "The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the son of man, and ye shall not see it. And they shall say to you, see here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them." The religious leaders are telling the millions of people that they must go and see one of the days of the Son of Man, and since most Christians can no longer think or discern, they will blindly follow blind leaders, and as Jesus said, "They will all fall in the ditch!" If people would only pray fervently and stay in the true Word of God instead of performing like trained seals in front of their religious leaders, they could then survive the gross darkness of deception.

One vital fact that we must never forget is that the crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, happened only once, and that singular event is effectual for all eternity. Hebrews 6:6 warns of what happens if that event were re-enacted in any way as the following words reveal: "... Seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."

Another point that must be remembered is that the movie claims to depict the "last twelve hours" of Jesus’ life on earth. This is an outright lie because Acts 1:3 clearly states, "To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God."

It is quite obvious that God does not approve of this movie for we can see clearly that His Word condemns it. During the filming of the movie, God was sending obvious signs of His disapproval. The star, Jim Caviezel, who played the part of Jesus, had the following things happen to him during the filming. Caviezel suffered hypothermia as he hung on the cross nearly naked and caught pneumonia and a lung infection. He dislocated his shoulder while carrying the cross, and he was struck by lightening twice. This was confirmed by an Associated Press report. In another scene, Caviezel was chained to a post to be whipped, and in the simulation, the actor doing the whipping missed and actually struck Jim Caviezel putting a 14-inch gash in his back. When this happened, Caviezel said, "I may be playing Jesus, but I felt like Satan at that moment. I turned to him, a couple of expletives came out of my mouth." There you have it! Jim Caviezel, the man playing Jesus said he felt like Satan, and began to cuss at the other actor.

Another star of the movie, The Passion of the Christ, who was hand-picked by Mel Gibson, is Monica Belluci, who plays Mary Magdalene. Monica Belluci is well known in Hollywood as a hard-core pornography star! She has starred in such movies as "Irreversible", which reportedly included rape scenes so explicit and intense that at its premiere showing, 250 people walked out, and some needed medical attention. Twenty people had to be given oxygen. This is the woman chosen by Mel Gibson to be a star in his movie. When we consider that such ministries as Focus on the Family are promoting the Mel Gibson movie with its pornography star, we can see that Dr. James Dobson is out of focus and should have done his homework! Dr. Tim LaHaye said: "Everyone should see this movie. It could be Hollywood’s finest achievement to date."

There is also a powerful mystical side to the Mel Gibson production containing elements of witchcraft. One review said, "Flashbacks, special effects, and a sulfurous evil presence lurks throughout the film." Jim Caviezel said, "I drew heavily on my Catholic upbringing, reread the Gospels and studied writings of Christian mystics." Caviezel also said, "Ivan Dragicevic and his wife Lorraine gave me a piece of the true cross. I kept this on me all the time. They made a special pocket in my clothes for it. I also had relics of Padre Pio, St Anothony of Padoua, St Maria Goretti, and Saint Denisius, the patron saint of actors."

Mel Gibson stated that he based his script largely on the visions of two Catholic mystic nuns: St. Anne Catherine Emmerich, who was an 18th century Augustinian nun, and Mary of Agreda, who was a 17th century Franciscan nun. Gibson said, "Emmerich supplied me with stuff I never would have thought of." The script was originally written in English for this movie but was translated by a Jesuit priest, who calls himself "Father" William J. Fulco.

It was quite a script and was filled with blood and torture to excessive extremes. The Bible does not use such intricate details. The Scripture tells us what we need to know. In Luke 23:33 it says, "And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left." It is also of great interest to note that when Diane Sawyer interviewed Mel Gibson she asked him, "It’s your hand in the film holding the nail?" He answered, "It is, yeah, my left hand." Gibson made a point of the fact that it was his left hand holding and positioning a nail to be driven through the hand of Jesus. In the occult, the left hand indicates "the force", and the Latin for left is sinister. There is a high order in esoteric Illuminism called Ordo Sinistra Vivendi or "Order of the Left Hand Path." Its purpose is to destroy Christianity by deception.

During a showing of the Passion movie in Wichita, Kansas, a woman was watching as Gibson’s left hand held the nail, and at the precise moment when the nail was driven in and blood poured forth, she dropped dead. Kansas is the geographical center of our country and the nail was centered by Gibson’s sinister hand. Was this a sign?

Has this wicked nation that persists in evil crucified the Son of God afresh and put Him to an open shame? Is this dead woman being carried from a theater a sign from God? As a former occultist and witch, saved by the grace of God, I discern the evil in this Mel Gibson movie, The Passion of the Christ! It should be avoided as a deadly abomination.

Seems you are taking many things out of context, especially Hebrews 6:6, and are just in general a nut job.

So what if Mel Gibson got a hardcore porn star to act as Mary Magdalene in the movie? It WAS a movie after all, and in and movie, there are actors and actresses, and generally they do different things. I'm not saying I support acting in a bad movie, but we have to understand that this is a movie just like any other movie.

As for the signs you said that God did showing he was completely against this movie, I always took it the other way around. Jim was struck by lightning, and he SURVIVED all that stuff. That looks to be like he had the protection of God.

And the movie DID go into other detail then what was put in the Bible. Keep in mind again, this is a movie, and not to be taken as someones literal live action version of the Bible. I'd hate to think that there wasn't more happening that what was written in the Bible however. You say that the scripture tells us all we need to know. True, but would it hurt seeing it a different way or a little more of something? This is like saying you can't see any other movie because it wasn't in the Bible.

In conclusion, this is a movie with regular actresses and actors that happens to be about Jesus. It was a very powerful movie, and changed my life for the better. The United States was talking about Jesus more during the release of that movie than they have been in years. Good going, Mel Gibson.

Mel Gibson’s movie is an abomination.

It adds words to the scriptures that were never written and that is displeasing to God. Mel Gibson and others on the movie set believed that God inspired them to make this movie. They took the liberty of putting words into the mouth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

They use the visions of a Catholic mystic. In case people don't know Roman Catholics need the real Jesus not the false christ that the harlot church promotes.

Jeremiah 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

Jeremiah 23:32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

I feel sorry for people who think they have a better idea of who Christ is as a result of seeing this filthy, evil movie.

Don't these people know that God has provided us with His Holy Word and the Holy Spirit to know and understand Him?

God needs Hollywood? If God's word can't reach a person then what hope is there?

2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Dare a man believe that anti-christ Rome, Mel Gibson, Hollywood and a devil possessed Catholic nun can present Christ better than what God has declared in His Word?

I am in danger of vomiting.

For an excellent article on this movie go to this website. I guarantee it is better than anything written about this movie.

Glad you liked the movie Justin. But I just wanted to commented on this statement. I have seen it (the statement) many times before and it annoys me how rumors like this persist. Monica Bellucci is not a hardcore porn actress. She's not even in the adult movie industry. Sure, she has done some topless and nude scenes but that hardly makes one an adult movie actress. The rumor started because she made a sexually explicit movie...with her husband as her co-star.

Here is a small list of some of her movies...

• The Passion of The Christ (2004)

• Remember Me, My Love (2004)

• She Hate Me (2004)

• Irreversible (2003)

• The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

• The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

• Tears of the Sun (2003)

• The Brotherhood of the Wolf (Le Pacte des loups) (2002)

• Maléna (2000)

• Under Suspicion (2000)

• Like a Fish Out of Water (1999)

Greetings,

One of the infinite things wrong with making a movie which is to portray the Lord Jesus Christ is that it puts images in the heads of the viewer.

How do you know Satan looked realistic? How do we know what he looks like?

I read some of the lines from the script of this movie. The false christ presented said things that were not in scripture and so did the being that was supposed to represent Satan.

I don't know what Jesus looked like. The bible does not give a description of Him.

The apostle Peter speaks to believers who were not in the presence of Christ. While under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit Peter states these words.

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Billy Graham claims the movie is as good as seeing Christ.

"I feel as if I have actually been there.
I was moved to tears.
No one who views this film's compelling imagery
will ever be the same.
Every time I preach or speak about the Cross,
the things I saw on the screen will be on my heart and mind."
-Billy Graham

Billy also states that he won't be able to r
ead the bible without seeing Caviezel as Jesus!

The movie adds to the word of God.

Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

The following is from "The poison in the Passion" Terry Watkins

http://www.av1611.org/Passion/passion.html

The following are obvious incidents in The Passion that are not in the Word of God. Any Christian who has even slightly
read their Bible should immediately recognize the
perversion of the Gospel Story
of the Lord Jesus Christ:

Satan is shown talking to Jesus in the
Garden of Gethsemane.

Satan is a beautiful woman.

Jesus stomps a snake in the Garden that slithers
from Satan’s cloke.

In the Garden of Gethsemene, a guard punches, kicks and slaps Jesus.

After Judas betrays Jesus, Judas is attacked by children whose faces morph into demons.

The demon-children bite Judas.

After viewing Jesus’s bloody body, Pilate asks the Sanhedrin if they always beat prisoners prior to trial.

Pilate discusses with his wife his relationship with Tiberius Ceasar, emphasizing orders
Ceasar gave him to avoid uprisings in Judea.
No such discussion is found in the Gospels.

Jesus falls three times while carrying the cross

Once when Jesus falls,
Mary runs to Him, and He says,
"See, mother, I make all things new."

Mary later asks Jesus, "When, how, where, will you choose to be delivered from this?"

Pilate’s wife brings linens to Jesus’ mother and Mary Magdalene so that they can wipe up his blood

A woman who is the Catholic Saint Veronica gives Jesus a cloth to wipe his face

Jesus’ cross levitates.

_film_not_present_in_the_Gospels>

There is no question The Passion is not true to the Bible. There is no question The Passion adds to the Word of God. There is no question The Passion perverts the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you think God approves of a movie which promotes lies and fables about His son and His word?

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

2 Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Unholy sea of locusts plagues 'Passion' town
By Peter Popham

25 August 2004

The ancient town of Matera, in Italy's deep south, famous for its cliffs pocked with hundreds of cave dwellings, has done very nicely out of the fact that it looks as if it jumped fully formed from the Bible.

Pasolini, who shot The Gospel According to St Matthew here, was the first director to be struck by the town's resemblance to everyone's idea of what the Holy Land ought to look like. Mel Gibson agreed. When he filmed The Passion of The Christ here, the streets ran red with fake blood.

But now the town's biblical credentials have got out of hand. This summer, Matera has been struck by a plague of locusts.

The fiery summer of 2003, which helped the locusts reproduce, is blamed for the arrival of millions of the huge insects, sending tourists diving for their buses and obliging residents to lock themselves indoors.

The plague is a little local difficulty, with no connection to the real plague under way in Africa. But this is faint consolation for Matura's shopkeepers and restaurateurs, wondering what the Lord has in store for them next.

Very interesting. Locusts...

Since the movie I have come to the conclusion that we should never make an image of Christ.

Many solid bible believers depict an image of what is supposed to be Christ on the cross or in a "bible scene".

The scriptures state:

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Any image that is presented of Christ would by definition be "another Jesus". There is no description given in scripture.

One thing is certain. No actor could portray Christ. The Lord was unique as "God manifest in the flesh".

He had an impact on people that no man could possibly duplicate.

Concerning the Lord it is written,

John 7:44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

John 7:45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

John 7:46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

It is an insult to the power of God's word to try and portray Christ in film or painting.

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

I am amazed at how many Christians believe this movie will have more of an impact on people than God's word.

One man actually told me that God's word is "not enough to convince people of how much God loved them."

My bible states:

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

1 John 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Why is it such an insult to portray Christ in film or painting? I see Christ in the staind-glass steeple of my church and I see hope in his painted countenance from the painting that stands before the doors of our church.

Children are taught with images that Christ was a loving person, that he was a caretaker to all children and animal; the humans that walked this soil long before we did.

Isn't it a bit harsh to say that it is an insult to God-- to make paintings and portray Christ so that people may understand the Good Word?

As for the movie, I think most people viewed it with the knowledge that it was a movie. "The Passion" is a form of art, despite its controversial image and arguments.

And yes, I agree that people should seek the Word of God in its written form. But if this movie makes people want to come closer to Christ-- closer to God, is that wrong?

I've read the Bible and I ask questions in study groups. I realize that I don't understand the political and scientific issues that surround my faith-- my religion. But the important part to me is that I am learning. And this movie brought me closer to the wanting that I have; to learn more about Christ and how to become a better follower.

And that creates significance to me.

Cheers. =)

Hello Chasing3rain,

You asked:

bibleberean responds:

The thing is you do not see Jesus in the stained glass steeple of your church. What you see is an image that someone who never saw Christ decided what the Lord looked like.

We don't know if Jesus looked like that. Do you think Jesus had long hair?
If so why do you think so?

I would guess you believe that because the world and the worlds art influenced you to have an image of a long haired Jesus.

The bible left us absolutely no description of what he looked like.

Any Jesus or portrayal of Jesus outside of the bible is idolatry because it isn't Jesus.

The bible is clear that having another Jesus is dangerous and wrong.

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

I have heard Christians say that after seeing the movie the passion they could appreciate the relationship Jesus had with His mother in a deeper way.

Hollywood helped them to get closer to God? They have been reading the bible for years and now a movie based on the visions of a devil possessed nun filled in the missing gaps for them?

The movie screen in Gibson's movie is a three dimensional object with a projected one dimensional idol on it's screen.

Exodus 20:4-5 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Judging from the way people swooned and came out of the movie in tears or in awe I would say they had a pseudo religious experience, a form of worship.

Billy Graham was so moved by the movie that he felt as if he had been there.

No great revival came as a result of that movie but instead an unholy ecumenical spirit of unity between the children of light and the church of antichrist.

Many people who watched that movie converted to Roman Catholicism.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Rhetorical question, not directed at anyone. But thanks for the lecture.

1 John 5:20- "And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life."

Yet with this understanding we should be able to recognise who and what is True, but also keep an open mind as to what we find ourselves surrounded in.

Any Jesus or portrayal of Jesus outside of the bible is idolatry because it isn't Jesus.

Art is a beautiful creation, a creative progess where there aren't guidelines. Are you artistic? For when you paint, you usually have an image in your mind. Painters have visions. And I respect the fact that you find all art to be oblivious to your beliefs, but I find it rather...hurtful to disregard the cultural values of art.

Romans 12:10-- "Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another."

Thanks for enlightening me to your ideas.

Cheers. =)

You give my quote and then ask a question but it was not directed at anyone? :-?

Okay...

I don't have anything against art. Just making images of the Lord Jesus Christ. We don't know what he looked like.

Have a nice day,

This is the Truth about The Passion of Christ?!

This is an exagerated perspective of someone who claims to be an ex witch. And, he is viewing life now as though satan and his minions are running around in control.

Mel Gibson did an incredible job on this movie bringing to life the portrayel of Jesus Christ. We got the opportunity to experience dramatically the crucifixion as well as the beatings etc that Christ endured. I was brought to tears as to what He did for me and walked away from the movie loving my Lord and Savior in a more passionate manner!

And, that is the Truth of the Passion, from my perspective! And, I am an ex Satanist! :)

The person you saw in the movie was not Jesus. It was an actor. Another Jesus. The movie did not show the true sufferings of Christ.

The movie added words and scenes that are not in the bible.

The movie gave an image of Satan which is not accurate. No one knows what Satan looks like.

I have watched people sob watching the Walt Disney movie "Old Yeller". I woudn't judge a movie by the emotions it draws out of me. The criterion for faith and practice is scripture not Hollywood.

I am an exCatholic. That was a Catholic Jesus and a Catholic Mary.

Give me God's word.

Please consider the facts.

Jesus and Satan talking in Gethsemane. Was it in the bible?

How dare Mel Gibson and evil Hollywood put words in our Saviours mouth.

Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

I appreciate your opinion 8-)

Adding to God's word is evil. That is not an opinion.

That is a fact. 8-)

Mel Gibson made a movie. That is all it is. There was an actor that was on the screen that played Jesus. Not a 'false image', just an actor portraying Jesus Christ. And I believe that he did a marvelous job.

The movie added words and scenes that are not in the bible.

Again, this was a movie. Mel Gibson did not state that this was going to a literal translation from the KJV Only to the Hollywood screen.

The movie gave an image of Satan which is not accurate. No one knows what Satan looks like.

Mel Gibson portrayed satan very well.

I have watched people sob watching the Walt Disney movie "Old Yeller". I woudn't judge a movie by the emotions it draws out of me. The criterion for faith and practice is scripture not Hollywood.

I was touched in my heart. And, that is fine for me. My faith is in Jesus Christ, not in the movie that I saw. And, I enjoyed 'Old Yeller' as well.

I am an exCatholic. That was a Catholic Jesus and a Catholic Mary.

I anticipate enjoying heaven with all of my Catholic friends.

Give me God's word.

I believe that you own your own KJV Bible.

Please consider the facts.

Jesus and Satan talking in Gethsemane. Was it in the bible?

Were they talking, satan planting evil thoughts in the mind of Christ etc? Again, a depiction of what may have happened.

How dare Mel Gibson and evil Hollywood put words in our Saviours mouth.

So, you believe that Mel Gibson should be crucified?

Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
