Harold Camping is at it again....and giving a bad name to all of us who sincerely watch for the signs the scriptures tell us we must see first before the Lord's return. What are these folks going to do when the world doesn't end on May 21st? It scares me to think that if they can fall for this surely, when the AC really does come on the scene, they will believe the miracles and wonders the AC does to trick the world.

Awesome, it's the end of the world': Doomsday campers travel the country preaching the Apocalypse...on May 21

Most people like to push thoughts about the end of the world to the back of their minds, hoping that the apocalypse, if it ever comes, will be a long way off. But for one group of not-so happy campers, doomsday is a lot sooner...May 21 to be precise.
According to the predictions of the Family Radio ministry, on that date a massive earthquake will shake the world apart, littering the ground with 'many dead bodies'.
Those who believe in Jesus will be carried into heaven, while the rest of humanity will endure 153 days of 'death and horror' before the world ends on October 21.
The group of 10 Christians from Oakland have set out across the country in a convoy of caravans to bring the 'awesome' message of impending doom to as many people as possible. 'Project Caravan', as it has become known, is made up of members of the Family Radio network all of who have given up jobs, families and all their possessions to join this final mission. Calling themselves 'ambassadors', the church members point to baffling biblical codes to demonstrate their reasoning.
Speaking to CNN the group's leader, 89-year-old Harold Camping, is adamant that the date is accurate. He said: 'I know it's absolutely true, because the Bible is always absolutely true. 'If I were not faithful that would mean that I'm a hypocrite.'

Of course, Camping has gotten it wrong before. :screwloose

There was a guy on this forum not long ago that predicted with absolute certainty that the rapture would take place on November 11 2010. He had previously predicted that it would be in July. Needless to say, neither of those dates was correct. I just checked, and he's taken his timeline off his website and replaced it with a 97 page .PDF file that explains that there will be two raptures. The first, the rapture of the church, will be on Sept. 29-30 2011, and the second rapture, the rapture of the 144,000, will be on April 4 2015.

If we're still here next June (which I fully expect we will be), then I expect Camping will do the same as XTruth did and push it back a little longer. If you keep guessing, you'll eventually get it right.

as a pre-tribber i hate this. it make those that do believe in this type of rapture. i preach, be ready he is coming soon, its the last days. repent!i dont date, just be ready. i'm no longer dogmatic on end times

The world can't come to an end.... I just filled my truck up, and you know how much that cost...

As a post -tribber i hate these things too. So many quacks, so few mature christians

I agree that we need to be ready. But imho it is not enuf to "just be ready." Scriptures specifically tell us to watch. Watch for what? There are signs and specific events that we need to be aware of. The whole "theif in the night" warnings to watch for His coming are not for the unbeliever. These were messages for the believers. The 10 virgins were all waiting on the Lord, but yet only those who did not stop watching were let into the banquet.

Problem is, too few read everything scriptures say pertaing to this. Some say, "we can't know the day or hour so why bother looking." Some say, we can determine from scriptures exactly when. But what do the scriptures really say?

They say we can know the season of His return. We should be able to know the time period of His coming, but we absolutley will not be able to predict the exact day or hour of the return. So, I while I may be able to know the Lord (after the advent of specific events) will come between 2011-2014 (for example) I would be a liar according to scriptures, to then say I know which day and time this would happen.

What is it about "you won't know the day" that these people don't get?

Agreed. I didn't think you were saying to ignore what is going on btw. When it comes to endtimes 50% is our imagination, on how things could possibly go down. The rest, if it can't be backed by scriptures is just an individual's opinion. Over the years I pray that I can discern between scripture-based facts, opinions, and just plain ole' imagination. :)

sadly many churches take books like the left behind series as dogma. :sad. read the bible then believe what it says. and also reexmanine. i have some fellow members of my church who are dogmatic pre-tribbers. i try to show them the wholes with that idea. they look at me like what you dont see the end is near? duh i do. where is the promise that we dont face the wrath of satan in the bible?

I am definitely a prewrather. Correction...misread ur post.

I wonder if CNN will be able to film Camping and his followers when May 21 hits or will they be hold up somewhere where we won't see them. There was another group that did this and wouldn't allow themselves to be filmed on the day of their "rapture" though their name escapes me. I hope they don't go behind the closed doors and drink the kool aid.

I am definitely a prewrather. Although, I may disagree with you about whose wrath we are promised not to face. The great tribulation is satan's wrath against the saints of God. It is the wrath of God, aka the Day of the Lord, that we are promised not to face....a totatlly different ball park.

Dee

not god's wrath, satan

this verse. and the great dragon warred with the saints and overcame them..that makes me more a mid trib type(though not fully persuaded)

The post trib pos is much the same as yours jason, the tribulation is the wrath of satan, the wrath of God is poured out after that, on the day of the lord. The post tribber would expect a rapture event early on the day of the lord.

That must be a new Post Trib view. It sounds much like the Pre Wrath view, where God spared His people the agony of going through the Wrath.

It's the view I hold, sans the future seven year "tribulation period". :yes

hmm my platoon daddy seems to disagree. but i will to have ask when i see him.

i wont post the mans name here. he is my plattoon sgt and a christian for sure.

Does a thief in the night announce his plans ahead of time?

"Hey is this 123 ABC St.?"

- Yes. May I ask who's calling?

"I am thief. I'm just calling to tell you that tonight at about 3:00 am, I am going to break in through the back door and rob you of all your valuables. I will be wearing all black and a ski mask. I will be extremely quiet and promise not to wake you!"

That pretty much sums up the logic of Mr. Camping :screwloose
