Amen. I’m reading some of his stuff, especially the definitions which I love.

I hope to use some in the new Soteriology Section with His permission.

Awesome.

I'm sure OzSpen won't mind.
It's good to share Christian writings.
Just, let's give him the credit, as we do for any other post that is linked to the internet.

Oz,,,,I'm having trouble reading real books (concentration).
You want I should read a tablet!!!
:helmet
Anyway, thanks for the info.
It's great that you could use kindle.....

wondering,

At the Bible studies I attend, 2 people use tablets or iPads. That may suit you. I'm one who highlights hard copies of books. I can do that on Kindle as well.

Are you aware if you buy books from Book Depository in the UK, it offers free delivery worldwide?

My metaphor for the Holy Spirit is a woman named Spirit. She is kind and gentle. To understand why I have chosen this you have to know a little about feminine and masculine personality traits which were introduced by Carl Jung who believed in spirituality.
I hate the idea that men who are kind and gentle are not being manly. It is precisely kindness and gentleness that makes a man human rather than beast.

Is that why Jesus chose that time?
Before the printing press? Rely on an oral tradition?
He came at that time, to redeem the Jews who had lost their true heritage and identity through the centuries of spiritual adultery and the exile (Daniel 9:24). Only, they did not receive Him (John 1:11, Daniel 9:26, Mark 14:55-64, Matthew 27:20-25). Therefore their false step has brought salvation to the gentiles (Romans 11:11, Matthew 21:38-45).

The fact that technology in the present day provides for more accurate documentation of facts does not guarantee the security of the reliability of those facts. For example, even in the present moment a man, Julian Assange, is rotting in prison for having published truth, and the world is unable to stop it. There were book burnings in the dark ages that are a campaign of force in the same vein, through which ancient writings are destroyed. Some of the ancient writings it has destroyed appear to be very valuable (eg 2 Kings 20:20).

If our legal think tanks can't express something with absolute clarity, who else can?
The reader has an equal responsibility in any communication, as the writer. Eg:

Courts are places appointed for adjudication where two parties call for an independent ruling on the correct interpretation of law, to settle the dispute. However, a judge also is prone to failing to interpret the writer's intention faithfully, and so there is appointed a mechanism for appeal to another court. But what happens when all the judges are somehow unable to be impartial? Then there is a miscarriage of justice, and why? Because there is no righteous authority to dissuade the dishonest corruption of law. That is a thing that happens, but also there is a happening where the law is intrinsically unrighteous, so readers and victims are searching for an opportunity to bend it for the purpose of justice. The only real difference between those two, is whether each is right to defy the intention of the law.

Yes! I do know this,,,thanks to you.
The volumes I want cost about $1,000.
I'm not sure it's worth spending the money at this
point in my life. I wish I knew about this 30 years ago....

Regarding the post that nice men aren't manly. Masculine and feminine are just categories created by Carl Jung. They really have nothing to do with gender but more about kinds of energy. He arbitrarily subscribed different characteristics to the masculine and feminine. The ideal man is androgynous which is a combination of masculine and feminine characteristics. I believe Christ was androgynous. He was most kind and compassionate and yet could get angry at the money changers.

I became interested in psychology before I found Christ. I admired Carl Jung because he believed in God he also promoted the need for spirituality in healing from addiction. But I'm going to stop talking about this. It seems to upset people. The definition you sent is incorrect. Androgyny has nothing to do with the physical properties of the human body. It's about different characteristics than men and women seed to have in their personality. It's really unimportant. But God did say he make us in His image. And he created man and women. So I did not know it would upset people so much to talk about God in those terms. They're just metaphors.

Thats a shame. I like Carl Jung too. Id like to know exactly what is anti Christian about him and his theories.

I will start a thread somewhere else. This is a good solution. Just so everybody understands me. I was only talking about personality traits not physical attributes. To me God is Spirit and has no gender.

Then, the prices would be much cheaper. Is there something that prevents you from reading them online at, say, New Advent? It's an RC site but the ECF are nicely formatted and in modern language.

Oh,,,I DO read them online....just not in book form,,,starting at page one and forward.

I read what I need to know at any given time.
I listen to David Bercot on YouTube who is an expert on the ECFs and what they believed. He quotes them and uses scripture...it is not a "man's opinion".

Im no theologian. Thats for sure.
But dont we all get obsessed about "the truth".
The intellectual truth I will assert. The left brain truth, if you dont mind me adding.
Im not saying a search for the truth isnt important. But sometimes we get too complacent if we think we have found it.
Alright. I know what you are going to say. "Jesus Christ is the truth."
And of course I agree. But doesnt that set us up to become intolerant? Inflexible? Dogmatic? The search is over therefore game over?
Ok Im sounding like a seriously disturbed liberal i know. A radical relativist. A heretic.
Because I wont put Bible front and centre? The Bible is the Truth more than Jesus Christ is the truth?
Ok Ok...i will stop making these migraine threads and return to my safe haven.
thanks for reading.

Humble soul,

Do you know the truth of correct use of apostrophes in the English language?

Im aware of the issue. Ive tried my hardest. it just doesnt seem to click.
It takes a combination of learner's interest and teacher's empathy, otherwise the student can't understand the teacher and will give up.

But it is important. It actually shows a reader that they should respect what you say. (In fact, it really only disables a potential/temptation for a reader to disrespect what you say, for "God does not judge by appearances").

Anyhow, it's easy to grasp the basics, and then there's just a few special exceptions to those rules. If you concentrate on just one rule until you have the habit of it, then you won't be overwhelmed and distracted by what seems complex.

That link explains it really well.

Its not that I dont care. Ive done all one can do.
It is in Jesus that we live are held together and sustained. He is also how God chose to forgive sin.

That is not intolerant. That is truth. Apart from Him no one has eternal life. That is not a threat that is truth.

I am not sure what your message is. Jesus dealt with excuses and all of them were rejected.

Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’

18“But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’

19“Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’

20“Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’

21“The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’

22“ ‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’

23“Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’ ”

There is also Luke 12:45-46, given as a testimony in witness. This is His way of "bringing low every mountain and exalting the valleys", that "every knee shall bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord".
