Yet it tells us that people needed to wash their hands with running water to avoid getting sick, to defecate in a hole and cover it up to avoid contamination problems,
Neither of those commands were given for the purpose of avoiding disease. They were given to avoid ceremonial defilement.
You are inserting scientific data into the scriptures which is not in the scriptures.
and that a man was brought back to life by Jesus, a little girl was healed from miles away, to take wine for your stomach sake, cleanse with hyssop and that Christ was hung on a cross until dead and rose again.
None of that is medical science.
Practitioners of modern medicine do not study the "science" of commanding life to return to a dead person or commanding from a didtance that a demon to leave a girl or to take wine for some undefined stomach ailment or to clean anything with hyssop and it certainly does not teach anything about rising from the dead on the third day. NOTHING of that has anything to do with medicine.

From there, they compared each state’s percentage of flatness—and ranked them. The top 10 flattest states, per their results (and ranked according to their total flat, flatter, and flattest designations):

  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • North Dakota
  • Louisiana
  • Minnesota
  • Delaware
  • Kansas
  • Texas
  • Nevada
  • Indiana
In other words, Dobson says: “What we're seeing is the percentage of Kansas that is flat is a lower percentage than Florida.”

Scripture speaks to no such thing. Please familiarize yourself with the terms eisegesis, and replace that with exegesis.
The bible describes a flat plain snow globe. Nowhere will you be able to twist scripture into a ball floating and spinning in space... or.... can you? Chapter and verse would be nice.... Then, email it to Kent Hovind, he couldn't find one either.

Our Bible is about God's relationship with our species.

It is much more than that. We have a book called "The Healing Secrets of the Bible". The bible is full of instruction and is much more than a book on relationship.

I do understand, however, that many Christians will take the events of the Gospel, no matter how supernatural and miraculous and hold to it like it is their last hope of eternal life.... yet.... will toss away all the other similar events because "they don't deal with salvation".

Jack, we've ascended above the Earth high enough to see it, and orbited around it a bunch of times. We have nearly 4,000 satellites in orbit.

Have we? Much of what NASA presents is CGI... they even admit it. I could post a bunch of images, that really look like photos even though nobody was there to take them... but... that has already been done.

Try the ocean sometime!

There are plenty of examples of people taking videos and pictures of objects, in full site, while they should be beyond the curve. And, yes, even on the ocean.

There is even a mountainous Island, I'd have to look it up, that is well beyond the distance that it should be visible. Yet, a couple of times a year, the sun is the exact position in which it passes directly behind them and their silhouette is obvious. People come from all over the world to see it.

We sure do spend a lot of time chasing our tails. The earth is flat. I know. I've been to Iowa. It's also made of corn fields (same reason).

You'd think that with our advanced technology and mathematical reasoning that we'd know with certainty the shape of the earth. How is it possible that the earth could be flat and yet the other planets are not? The earth is the shape of my head with the back of my head representative if Iowa (the flat part, I think the doc either over used the forceps or dropped me).

Silliness aside, I think the point of the OP is that the Bible is consistent (meaning it doesn't contradict) with current scientific understandings. It doesn't claim for example that the earth sits on the back of a turtle.

That said, it's not the purpose of the Bible to explain things in a scientific manner. Some things are explained phenomenologically. It's fun to think about but you can only go so far with it.
Sorry Papa.... you have a lot of catching up to do.... No offence but your statements and questions are FE 101.

AH! That's the problem.
The information in the Bible is about God's self revelation to man.
The information in a science book has to do with trying to understand God's creation.
They are two very different topics.
Conflating them is absolutely going to create confusion.
That's your view. The wisdom and knowledge that men pride themselves in, is arrogant and ignorant.

My view is that the scriptures are:

"given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

And:

1 Corinthians 3:19 King James Version (KJV)
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

The wisdom and knowledge that men pride themselves in, is arrogant and ignorant.
So knowing that water freezes at 32ºF and boils at 212ºF is "arrogant and Ignorant" in your view?
Knowing that the speed of light in a vacuum is 186,000 miles per second "arrogant and Ignorant" in your view?
I agree that the "wisdom" of men is arrogant but do you know the difference between "wisdom" and "knowledge"?
I ask because you seem to conflate the two terms.
My view is that the scriptures are: "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
Again, I totally agree.
But the topic under discussion is not what is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; it's about man's quest to understand God's creation (AKA: "science") as compared to God's self revelation. (AKA:the Bible) Those who have made the study of science their life's work do not suggest that science is "profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." To suggest such a notion would be perceived by them as ridiculous. They are not investigating how to be righteous; they are trying to figure out how creation works.
1 Corinthians 3:19 King James Version (KJV)
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
Again; science is not the pursuit of wisdom; it is the pursuit of knowledge of how the physical universe works.
You continue to conflate the concepts of wisdom and of knowledge. They are not the same.

Where is the theory of gravity in the bible? Etc the bible doesnt explain how it works.

I'm btw,a yec type.take note

Where is the theory of gravity in the bible?
Exactly!
Since physical science has very little to do with God's self-revelation to man and how mankind best responds to God's love, the Bible is silent on topics like science and technology.
the bible doesnt explain how it works.
Again, exactly.
The Bible doesn't explain because that is not the purpose of the Bible.
Scientists observe that it does work and that, on the earth, objects which are dropped accelerate at a rate of 32 feet, per second per second. (Excluding air resistance)
Scientists have determined that gravity is related to the mass of an object. Using that information, they have been able to use the gravity of the sun and planets to accelerate probes to the outer planets of our solar system and beyond.

Clearly, if you're intelligent enough to figure out those known standards, you are also intelligent enough to know that this is not what I mean.

I mean seriously, do you think that I don't know that there are absolute facts know to us? Scientific knowledge that has been used and applied?

However, people still balk at the bible when it says things that don't line up with modern thinking and modern science.

All I'm saying is that if the guys in the white coats are going to tell me something contrary to the biblical scripture.... my money is on the bible and I bet my eternal life on the truth that is in that book. Why would I not think that men will always be on the losing end when they contradict the creator? God even said that He will make the so called wise men of this world to be fools.

Again, I totally agree.

I understand your view on this. However, a book does not need to be a "science book" in order to contain things that are scientific. Therefore, if there is a concept or view in the biblical account, that contradicts some science text book written my men and their finite knowledge.... I bett'n that some day... they find that the men were wrong.

We can always go to the bible for truth. It may not tell us that water boils at 100 degrees C. Or what the speed of light is. However, when it says that the earth will not be moved. Or that their is a solid fermiment above us and water above that, Or that the sun and moon both stopped moving.... Or any of the many other statements of the scripture that modern science disagrees with... Again, I'm bett'n we don't know it all and man will, in the end, be the loser in the science debate with our creator and His Word.

The theory of gravity is explained "by" the Bible in the following method.

Fine someone who is hostile towards the Bible and specifically refuses to even consider that the Bible demonstrates the theory of gravity.

Invite them over to help you paint room. Have them paint the baseboard.

Get on a ladder and paint the top. Have your Bible with you. When they are painting the baseboard just underneath where you are working, drop your Bible on their head.

When they complain and ask what that was all about, simply say, "See? I've used the Bible to demonstrate the truth of the theory of Gravity."

Case closed.
