Hi, a request from my husband and myself for a great Christmas present. Are you near a military base maybe national guard, coast guard or?? There are lots of young men and women who serve this country with great love and honor who will be thousands of miles from home. If you contact the base you can arrange for someone to have Christmas with you. It has been some of the most rewarding time spent on that or any holiday. God bless.

I,won't ask a civilian to understand the following .

War,the place where vet wants to be and loathes to be. He can't leave it ,yet he embraces it ,for him its the normal as civilian life is now a mystery to him.

Even during Xmas ,thanksgiving at home he is there .thinking of his buddies.

I have lived that .the hardest thing was not such me the return ,but the retirement since it was a final goodbye to that and yet while I had too,I didn't want to.the order of the days at drill and skills I needed ,it also helped me cope, gone now and nam vet said that he regretted getting out .it helped him, stay normal,I didn't get that until I retired.

Thank you for your service and welcome home. Thanks for sharing. My husband is Combat Marine from Vietnam. His 4 years in the Marines he had two Christmas in Vietnam, one in the Caribbean and the fourth was also out of country. He speaks of the guys he served with like they were the greatest people and tough to leave behind. His highlight was returning home from Nam and his lowlight returning home. He never found the love that he found everywhere in the Marines and especially in combat zones. It’s interesting to listen to him he does not use words like love he says Espirit De Corps, I have no idea if that is spelled right, which means that special bond Marines have with each other. I know it’s really love.

Esprit de corps is not just in the marines.I,just described it in,my own way.I'm,army .

That is built by common enemies, common problems and dealing with them,pt and also other unit level training .

The guy you hate ,you will love when he saves your behind ,and vice versa.
