Whats it to be?

Most couples who are out will be assumed by aquentances to be living together. That was what I experienced 20 years ago when out on a date with my then girlfriend.
Many will know the expectation of friends that if you are 'dating' that you will be having sex or actually living together.
I am talking about Christians.

I am also assuming that you know that the bible condems sex out side of marriage.

So why this post?

Men and women have very different expectations on life.

Should you succumb and give in to living together please please talk about the research that shows how dangerous it is for women.

Young couples living together were asked how committed they were to their relationship.
51% of men were not committed to the relationship compared to 61% of women who were committed to it.

Girls ask yourself the question.
If a man is getting sex etc without any commitment required why should he commit himself?

You can read about the research here:-https://www.theatlantic.com/sexes/archive/2013/07/men-and-women-often-expect-different-things-when-they-move-in-together/277571/

WOW...
The shacking up factor is getting worse.

Marriage has responsibility and commitment and priviledges and protections.

Such a shame.

But single parent families are now the largest demographic in America.

Is that then a reason for encouraging single parenthood?

The stats also show that the most dangerous place for a child is in a single parent unit, that children in single parent units do worse in education, in relationships and in dealing with the getting in trouble with the law.

It's not a reason to encourage such...
But it is a group that is largely unchurched and unless this is addressed it's going to get worse instead of better.

We need to reach out to those who need us the most...not shun them.

Where have I said anything about shunning?

I've posted this so people here can start informing their churches and educating them that the biblical principals are based on sound reasoning.

I don't intend that you are personally guilty...the church I attend is usually guilty of this on a corporate level. They are kinda stuffy at times.

Some churches are not so guilty by having weekday church services with childcare and other services that single parents are needing. Some, like mine, seem to barely tolerate the families of child rearing age much less go out of their way to cater to the single parent.

Single parents tend to have a thin skin when it comes to church as they feel especially vulnerable for their obvious "failure at life" when not being a part of a nuclear family. They feel like others are going to heap condemnation on them for their position and possibly be worse yet by transferring that condemnation to their children.

I don't know how to stem the tide...but I'm trying to get help in doing so.

There is only one way and that is to raise the issue privately with the minister, having done that start raising it publickly.

In times of public prayer, pray for single parent families and for the abusive attitude of the church in its ungodly rejection of them.
At the churches general meeting ask what plans there are to help those in need in the community that is single parent families, young people etc.

Do your research what are other churches in your area doing, what can you find out about the needs.

When you get the advers reaction point out Mary had a child while unmarried, The account of his birth Luke 2: 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

Mary was an unmarried Mother. So how would they treat her today?
