To get the lay of the theological and spiritual land here, it would be helpful for me to learn which neglected topics you wish were started on this site and which topics you hope will be avoided. I will arbitrarily post a list of 15 possible topics just in the hope that these will stimulate you to let me know whether you want new threads on these or some other topics:

(1) OSAS (the doctrine of eternal security)
(2) Calvinism vs. Arminianism
(3) creationism vs. evolution
(4) the biblical basis for Catholic doctrinal distinctives
(5) how to engage atheists and agnostics in constructive dialogue
(6) Christian apologetics (e. g. the basis of a rational and defensible Christian faith, the case for Jesus' resurrection, the problem of unfair suffering, the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin)
(7) theories of biblical inspiration and the problem of the right biblical canon
(8) the possibility of salvation apart from formal profession of faith in Christ
(9) Gender issues: the gender of God, the status of women in church leadership
(10) human sexuality and its controversies
(11) abortion and other controversial ethical topics
(12) the mysteries of end-time Bible prophecy
(13) the gifts of the Holy Spirit
(14) the New Testament doctrine of the Holy Spirit
(15) secrets of effective petitionary prayer

Welcome to CF.net Berserk.

OSAS v.s. OSNAS has a history of having devisive and argumentative discussions on this site. So for the time being that topic has been banned.

Outside of that, I'd recommend for you to start a topic on whatever you feel compelled to talk about. If it's of interest to you, then you'll have more to say in the conversation about it. Or even better, you'll find others that have something to say about it where you can learn and grown in your own knowledge.

As for me. I'm always interested in topics of the Holy Spirit, and gifts of the Spirit fit right in with that. I don't have much to say, but am always ready to either learn, be encourage, or be corrected in that topic so that in the end I can be closer to God through the Holy Spirit.

All the topics you offered sound good though. So feel free to jump in. :)

Berserk,

Thank you for joining us at CFnet. I hope you'll find lots of friends and challenging topics.

I would add: Why the low interest rates in apologetics at the local church level?

I see teens not being equipped for upper high school's challenges in the classroom and in university classes.

The job of the pastor-teacher is 'to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ' (Eph 4:12 NLT).

Hello and welcome.
You should have received a welcome message and we also have a community message that would afford you the discussions we are trying to promote.

In short, we are a small community but most of us know each other fairly well. Unlike other online communities, our desire is to foster healthy relationships so that our differences can be discussed with our friendship in mind.

Hey B,,,
Welcome to the forum!
It's great that you're interested in so many different topics.
I'm not sure how the administrators feel about OSAS, Eternal Security, since sometimes it could turn really ugly!!....however all the others are fine, so fire away!

Hello Berserk. :biggrin2 Even though I don't understand most of what you're talking about, (due to the fact that I sometimes have trouble with reading comprehension) I still wanted to welcome you to the forum anyways. :wave2

Hi Berserk and welcome to CF :wave2

OSAS is banned as it causes to much division between the brethren so it is no longer allowed. The list you have provided are discussed many times throughout the forums. Please feel free to start a new thread and grab your favorite beverage and jump into all the different topics that are here.

we could discuss the nature of the proper doctrine and only proper way to see the bible via Calvinism. total depravity, irresisttable grace , limited atonement ,perservance of the saints, and unconditional election.

let the sparks fly

hi, and welcome. I'm just a member here, so I don't get to lay down any rules for you, lol. I think the ToS spells things out fairly clearly...

the gender+sexuality+I think abortion topics are limited to Christian Talk+Advice, if I remember correctly. RCC topics are also to be minimized, but I think End Times, maybe Theology (?), should the need arise.

ok. Welcome to CFnet. :)

All of the above.
Maybe I've already answered this?

Anyway, yes, start up some good threads and we'll follow.
Everything you mentioned is an important topic.

Berserk,

I would add:
  1. How can the Israelites living in Egypt and miraculous escape across the Red Sea be accurate when historians and archaeologists have not found evidence outside the Bible?
  2. Were Adam and Eve real historical people?
  3. God is love but he's also wrath. Why the minimising of his wrath?
  4. Was Jesus' resurrection a bodily resurrection or something else?
  5. Is the God of Islam the same as the God of Christianity?
For me the bigger issue on this forum is that posters tend to post their personal views without studying and researching the matter. To be honest, if I read any more ho-hum, generic answers that trot out standardised answers, I won't be back. This is not because I have advanced education but because some of the responses are not thought through and are repetitious.
