I've never done Twitter. I think it's a generational gap thing. I tried on 3 or 4 occasions and quickly deleted the app because I didn't understand it. I'm on again for 5 days now, which is a personal best. I did it, bc I wanted to see all of Trump's tweets; not just the cherry-picked ones the media makes a big deal about.

Most all of what I've seen from him makes perfect sense. They are pro-USA and what needs to be said. And he tweets a lot. I wonder if it's really him who thumbs them in or a staffer. I'm confident they're his words. To me, this is a good way for POTUS to stay plugged in.

Anyone who says he disrespects the Oval Office by being on Twitter likely only sees what the media wants you to see or they are an anti-Trump liberal. If it's the latter, you should remember that it was your Bill Clinton who followed up truly presidential Bush by going on MTV and answering teen questions like "what kind of underwear do you wear?".

i agree - i like hearing anything trump has to say - he is quite different from what we are used to

imo twitter is the best way for him to connect with us due to the corrupt media

i also watch his rallies and speeches and foreign addresses - they are all very interesting and direct

he is a very smart man - he gets things done - and his tweets are better than wasting my time on fake news

he's a very effective communicator - speaking or tweeting

I agree. The president should have the right to have a Twitter account if he chooses.
amen

imo d's dislike his twitters because it successfully bypasses fake news

trump is the best one to talk about his ideas

fake news are the worst ones to trust regarding what trump is really doing

should a poster be allowed to post here without forethought and simply speak?

I'm very vulgar at times and can easily post that way., does any one see the problem?

I should post my anger rants when I'm irritated at a problem fixing a car, usually its at the Asian race, lol. yet I know I would be chastised here for posting that.

Now yesterday I caught a press conference with President Trump and Stefan Lofven, Prime Minister is Sweden. Lofven had a career as a welder and union activist. I don't imagine I would see eye to eye with him on politics. Of the two leaders one demonstrated a very competent command of the English language. His sentences were well developed and thoughtful. All that despite having a fairly strong swedish accent.

Past Presidents have used the media available .. Not speaking of the words of the POTUS ( any of them) but the idea of using the media of the day... Why Not?

I don't think a judicious thoughtful use of twitter would be a bad thing. I believe his twitter posts would work more good if he considered the sheer force a president's words have. It would help if he would be able to intersperse these posts with well developed articulate traditional communication to demonstrate what he says is logical and rational. I don't know that he can without a lot of help and work though.
So he sticks with twitter.

If you understand what I said he is welcome to use twitter. A president needs to be able to pull something more substantial out of his hat when it's needed. I know 1984 the year has come and gone, and the novel wasn't completely accurate. But I don't think the dumbing down of our ways of expressing political, social, and cultural ideas is a good thing. Our acceptance, even cheering his elementary posts as significant marks of an intelligent statesman doesn't inspire hope. Fortunately I do have a real hope. And it doesn't involve the President, thank goodness.
