I didn't say we should put our guard down.
One time during a paint ball fight with the girl's youth group I hid behind a patch of gourds. I let my gourd down for just a second. WAP! Right in the forehead. Don't worry. I arranged it so she had to do 3rd grade Bible study all over again the next year.

What's a paint ball fight?
I think I missed this terrific sounding sport....

Then there was the time I had a tug of war with the girl's youth group.
Let's just say they're probably tired of 3rd grade Bible Study by now. :wink
Oh, I see.
You're very experienced with the girl's youth group.
And that 3rd grade bible study must be very crowded.
They have no hope against Jethro!

Are you serious?
It's this sport where you shoot balls of paint at each other. They splatter on impact. Usually leaves a big bruise. Pure fun! But remember......don't let your gourd down.

What!
You want I should get myself full of paint!
Gourd: tough skinned individual. ( I hope that's what it means).

I'm a nice girl....
No paint ball fights...

I didn't say we should put our guard down.

I said our Christian walk should not be a tug of war.
If it is,,,,there's something we've missed.

If we walk with the Spirit,,,we will serve the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:8
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

1 John 2:6
Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

Galatians 5:22-24
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

I have heard it put this way.......All believers have within them Two dogs— A white one and a black one....whichever one you feed the most will be the dominant one....we should never feed the black dog, but occasionally we do....If one is not aware of THAT......they are living in a fantasy world.....
As Believers there are Tons of things we “ought” to do....we fall short frequently.....that is where the Chastisement Of God comes into play —- he will punish us like any good Parent would to get their foolish Children back in line....Salvation-Wise, take your sins and do the same thing with them that God does...put them on the Cross and leave them there. Then forget them.... “ I will remember their sins NO MORE.....

I don't have within me two dogs BB.
I have within me the Holy Spirit.
This does not mean I don't sin.
But it means I live a peaceful life and don't worry about sinning.
It means I've been finding this easier and easier as I've dwelt with
the knowledge of God,,,what He did for us and why I love Him.

As to God punishing us....this is usually said by those that believe they will be saved forever no matter what because God will punish them here instead of AFTER.

I'm sorry...I don't agree with this.
God does not punish us...the punishment comes naturally by not following his rules.
God is Light and in Him there is no darkness. He does not need to punish His creatures.
1 John 1:5

“ This does not mean that I do not sin”.....If you wisely acknowledge that you still sin, that is what my little Analogy is talking about......the part of you that still sins, even though now you are a Saved Believer, is what the story describes as the “ Black Dog”......Your Old , Adamic Nature That still dwells within you, along with your New Nature That Hates sin.Unbelievers have only One Nature within them. When we put our Faith in the Gospel to Save us, our Nature becomes Two-Fold.As part of God’s SanctificationPlan to Transform us into the Image Of His Son......That Old Man will fade and the New Man will gradually take over.....this is how God changes the “ inside of the cup”....

So the Holy Spirit is like the new dog, or new nature...

Buddy the Mouse has several teachings on that; but they are all in Portugese.

I don’t know Anybody that believes that they are saved forever because God punishes us here instead of After. Personally, I “know” that I am Saved forever because God's Word says that if I come to a Him through Faith in His Son, He will Save me “ to the Uttermost” and He will “ Finish the work that He started”—- that’s good enough for me.I am the True “ Chief Of Sinners”, But I Trust God to keep His Word .That is what Faith is.I got that and that is why I am Saved.
I am like you in the sense that I don’t worry about Sins.....I seldom think of the 613 Commands Of God.....The Law served its purpose in my life— it lead me to Jesus. Now let somebody else have what I am now “ dead” to....hopefully they will get the same result that I got.My “ New Heart” does a better job of being obedient to God than the Commandments could ever do. What used to be demands now are things that come naturally....
These days, when I sin, I do the same thing with those sins that God does — I put them on the Cross and forget about them....Anytime I sin, I wind up hurting myself or somebody else. God does not want to see either of those things happen. That it is where His Punishment , or ( a better word) Chastisement enters the picture . I Chastise my Children because I love them.....I punish them with the hope that my discipline will change behaviors that will hurt them or others...Anybody that persists in sinful behavior and seems to “ get away with it” may not be a true child of God.....Then you REALLY got a problem.....The Bible says not to resent God’s Discipline......NOT getting that Guidance is a bigger problem...God Bless...

I agree with the last part of the above.
By saying that we have "two dogs" it gives each nature the same amount of power.

What happens after salvation is that our love for Jesus puts the old sin nature under submission to our new nature.

This does not mean we become sinless since our sin nature is still present, as you've stated...however it does not have the power it used to have, or at the very least, we have become aware of it and can walk away from it more easily. So I'd say the white dog is more powerful.

We are slaves to the one to whom we present ourselves.
We present our bodies a living sacrifice.
Romans 6 and 12

If one is a Believer, we still have the Freedom to give the Power to the Old Man, and when we do we can expect to be Chastised for it.....If one gets their hand spanked enough, the Behavior that brought it about should diminish.....If the Sin is serious enough and if God's Chastisement is ignored, the disobedient Child Of God is subject to an untimely, early death- Salvation still intact because Jesus said that Believers shall NEVER come under Condemnation .....The NEW MAN will be victorious in the end— it is up to the Believer to decide how many stripes he will have on his rear- end when he stands at the Bema Seat , receiving few, if any Rewards.......

Chicken ,and beef both can carry parasites .

Chicken eat their own if its its not the same color chick, eat their waste .

Chickens are not something you, would eat of you grew up seeing them do what they do if that is concern .my,wife talked about how they will peck .

Fish will have worms ,always do .and must be cooked or raised to prevent that . certain fish are scavengers ,cat fish are ,not the walking type .
interesting - i will have to study more

all i know is God said what was clean and unclean - food and not food - the more i find out about what science says about things God said are not food for us the more i am convinced that God's wisdom is reliable and doesn't change

seems to me God said not to eat certain things for profoundly valid reasons

i guess it's all a matter of faith in God for everyone who eats and who doesn't eat certain things

thanks - always appreciate what you have to say

There are possibly other reasons ,but mad cow disease ,other parasites can be caught from cattle .I,don't see anything in,the Torah about how to avoid some parasites ,cattle carried anthrax and so did sheep until its eradication.

mad cow disease originated by adding ground dead cow meat into the herbivores feed meal - not sure about parasites in cattle - probably the same thing - possibly man messing around with what they feed cattle rather than just letting them eat grass - used to work with my dad on his mobile feed mill travelling to farms and feeding cattle -

the rest i would have to check out

but for me the bottom line is i don't want to eat a scavenger or carnivore because God said not to - science says it's risky for humans to eat carnivores and scavengers

i know people say that has all changed but i don't see God clearly saying anywhere that it has all changed

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
