I have to tell this humorous story. Back in the day when I was living with my Mother we were sitting in the living room watching TV and heard a noise out by the back door. My Mother went and got her pistol and went back to the couch and I went into the kitchen to get a knife and investigate the noise, but nothing there. I went back into the living room and saw the gun sitting beside my Mother and started laughing. She asked me why I was laughing and I told her, wouldn't it had been better to unholster the gun or at least unsnap the holster. We both had a good laugh.
 
Spiders give me the creeps. Especially those that I see as big and ugly. I see people that have pet tarantulas. I could never handle one of those and would freak out if I saw one scurrying across a floor. I'm getting goosebumps just typing this.

You know I was just thinking about this. It seems like we are more afraid of what is going to happen to us more than things that actually happen to us.

1Cor.10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
 
Oh btw, turns out that I spent most of yesterday being worried and afraid for nothing, because the thing that was worrying me never actually happened and it was all inside my head. :)

I know this is kinda “unchristian” but death scares me. Particularly sudden death.
 
There are big fears and little fears...
Little fears like fears of spiders or snakes that cause a big reaction in some people...but are gone as soon as the critter is out of range. (Like dead)

Then there are big fears...fears that people change their whole lifestyle around.

Fear of being alone.
Fear of being sick or hurt.
Fear of poverty.
Fear of loss.
Fear of being laughed at/ridiculed.

You will find that as a person ages some of these fears grow. They never were "given to Jesus".
And when you are young...yes these fears were real but "you mastered them". But when you get old...they now master you.

Fears and wants have that strength. They get stronger over the years as your strength of youth fades. And one day they will get the upper hand and rule over you.

That's what Jesus is for. He can and will destroy all those fears because He is in charge of your life...He says what will or won't happen. He says when the day of your glorification is. He has the whole world in his hands.
