All That Remains - The air that I breathe.

Not sure if All That Remains are a christian band. Don't actually think so. But I'm finding some of their lyrics very relatable though.

I looked that group up and that song. Sounds more like they are Heavy Metal. It is very easy to relate to songs when they touch a "cord" within us.

I will not relent no no
Never live with defeat, never falter
It's like the air that I breathe(like the air I breathe)
I will not choke on failure
Cause I will not choke on failure

I am a mortal man
But I'm not falling, I'm not broken yet
I am a mortal man
But I hold tight to my beliefs now

I have suffered defeat, pain, loss
Still I push to the edge, never falter
For this cements my beliefs (this cements my beliefs)
I'll remain my own master

I will not relent no no
Never suffer defeat, never falter
For this cements my beliefs (this cements my beliefs)
I will not choke on failure

I am a mortal man
But I'm not falling I'm not broken yet
I am a mortal man
But I hold tight to my beliefs now

I am a mortal man
But I'm not falling I'm not broken yet
I am a mortal man
But I hold tight to my beliefs now

I will not relent
I will not relent, no no
I will not relent
Never suffer defeat never falter
I will not relent, no no

Never suffer
Never falter
I will not relent, no no
Never suffer
Never falter

Yeah I love songs that appeal to inner strength and determination. :)

Imo it's okay to listen to and enjoy secular songs, as long as they don't openly oppose christian beliefs or worship evil.

I listen to all kinds of music and anything that seems inappropriate, I won't listen to. Music can express so much of how we feel. I have listened to some music that has deeply touched me.

Yes and music can have so much power and give us strength to face our lives. Most contemporary worship music can't achieve that, it's way too soft and "sweet".
Thank the Lord for christian Heavy Metal and Hard Rock bands!!!

I love this song.

Follow the flute all the way through. Then follow the bass line all the way through.

I love Jethro Tull....no one compares to them (70s line up) Christian or otherwise, complex yet very approachable Music,Ian Anderson is quite the musical genius
It's true, their music has so much depth, like good literature, you can hear it over and over again and some new or different element of it jumps out at you.

I'd say the '70s was their time for sure. They made so many albums I'm still discovering songs I never knew before, or didn't know very well, like the one I posted.

I often wished I could bring their style and musical depth of Celtic, folk, progressive rock to Christian music. My kids say Christian music is just pop music and lyrics with 'baby', or 'girl', replaced with 'Jesus'.

Good to know there's at least one other Tull fan here in the forums.

Jethro Tull was all about the music which is what a "musician" is supposed to be all about, the lyrics were often abstract and vague with many different meanings depending on who was listening.....their goal was to draw the listener into the music...words without music is poetry but music without words is still music.I have the bible to get my "messages" from but when I want to hear good music I turn to bands like Tull to get it...here is another one you might enjoy....from 1979

What If, by Nicole Nordeman

Heard this song this evening and had to look it up.

It was 40+ years ago that I heard this song. It struck me then as it does today that the artist, Sue Hunt, had captured, spoken of, sung and lived the sound that comes from my heart as I cry.

Claudya :

I think on this matter you and questdriven think similarly...

Listened through some of my music library, starting with Casting Crowns, and going through the artists in alphabetical order. Am currently on Red, and the song "Start Again" from the album "Innocence and Instinct".
Well, okay, the song just now changed to "Never Be the Same".

P.S.
The artists in between Casting Crowns and Red are Fireflight, For King & Country, Jason Bare, and Owl City.

questdriven:

Was this the CD that your mom gave you, maybe?

I guess she is now a bit more positive about your Christian hard rock.

Blessings.
