15And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." 16To the woman he said, "I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. …. Ge. 3
There was a commentary I had years ago that spoke of Eve saying something a little bit different than what was recorded here. If anyone recognizes it from what I write please let me know. Thanks. When the Lord spoke of these things to Eve who would she have thought the Lord was speaking about? A woman thousands of years in the future? Would you after looking around and seeing no other woman not consider that it was you who was going to bring the Savior into the world? Adam even names her Eve the mother of all living. The person(s) who wrote the study on Exodus believe that it should have been translated as such when Eve spoke after the birth of Cain "Behold! I have been given the Man. Even the Lord."" This is not far different from what is written by whoever translated it as: Adam[a] made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain.[b] She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth[c] a man.” Ge. 4 I think a legitimate case can be presented that Eve probably did understand and believe the Lord that a Savior, a Man, was going to be born who as the Seed would crush the head of the evil one. That this Man who would be born of a woman would also be the Lord, Jehovah, or YAHWEH The only thing Eve actually got wrong was the timing. After her failure that led to the fall what a wonderful show of faith in what God said.
