Well I had a pretty good time in church this morning. :) I saw a couple of people that I spoke to afterwards that I haven't seen in awhile so that was nice. Today's sermon was all about hearing the voice of God, the many different ways that He speaks to you, and recognizing His voice when you hear it.

I was also talking with a couple of the band members afterwards (since we have a live band that performs) and we were talking about the fact that when we sing our songs it doesn't matter if we have the worst voices in the world and we shouldn't have to worry about drawing attention to ourselves because we're singing to God and worshipping Him and as long as it's coming from the heart then that's all that matters. :)

Here are three songs from today's service that I really enjoyed.

Today we talked about Joseph in Egypt after his brothers sold him into slavery.

One minute he is the favorite son of a well-to-do patriarch and the next he is homeless, family-less, and a slave.

I know that I would be angry and refuse to work.

But Joseph survived by focusing on serving others... AKA servant leadership.
Then he got shipped off to jail.
And again he excelled by focusing on being a servant.

Instead of all the whining and crying about "why me?" He accepted his position and focused on being the best servant he could be.

"And God was with Joseph" was repeated in the narrative several times.

Another quote going hand in hand with this is:"God opposses the proud but gives grace to the humble"

Next thing you know (20years later) Joseph is in charge of the sole super power of the world.
And Joseph cries over seeing his brother and father. He could have gotten vengeance. (Quite easily)
He could have been bitter.
(I would have been)
But instead he had his whole extended family brought to him to save them from the famine...All 72 of them.

Nothing.
There is no church that will accept me with a service dog here.

So sad. Haven't been to church in over 4 years. Not my choice.
The church I was heavily involved in for thirty years had a blind fellow whose helper was a yellow lab seeing eye dog. No one there thought a thing of it other than being glad for him to have the dog and admiration for how well the dog did it's job.

Last week we got biopsy results and learned my wife has breast cancer. We went to a surgical oncologist today. We feel better after going over the likely treatment plan. Surgery must be done but it should only be a lumpectomy.
In our little church she was prayed for much, and fussed over, and offers of all sorts of help were made. So we learned we are among brothers and sisters. We also learned many women go through this. Several in our church including the pastor's wife.

Ladies, take the messages about self exams and getting mammograms when they should be done seriously. My wife's cancer was caught early. That's really important.
One in eight women will get breast cancer. The hereditary aspect is not that strong. If your mother and other relatives have not gotten it, that doesn't mean you can't. My wife's mother is 97 and never had it. My wife has 4 sisters over 65 who have never had it. Yet my wife got it.
So do the steps you need to catch it as early as possible.

Yes, I had it 30 years ago and did all of the above. So, I am still here and have not had a reoccurence. Medically there have been even more improvements since then. God be with both of you through her surgery and whatever is needed in recovery. Oh, there is no history of breast cancer in my family. Prayers for both of you. :pray

Well in the service this morning I learned that God doesn't care that I'm not really qualified to be one of His disciples, He just wants an intimate relationship with me because I'm around. :)

However I was also discussing something after the service today about the fact that during the second song that I'm posting here that even though I was the only one clapping my hands along with it, that I wasn't ashamed to do so. :biggrin2 (I even spoke about being on the podcast last week and discussing the fact that one of the points that our pastor made made me think of it when I asked the question, how many of us that read God's Word are actually listening to it? :confused)

In the temple today, (the temple not built with hands)
Learnt, to continue to keep Praising His Name, good times or bad.
How Wonderful Our Father is!
Finally going to get some sun!
Seems like it has been raining for a straight month.
The birds are singing, praising their Creator also, :tongue
Signs of Spring on the horizon, my daffodils, tulips, pink dogwood tree, the signs of Life...

Resurrecting from the dead...

Hi Diane,
Thank you for such a cheerful post.
A couple of daffodils came up in my garden last week. Since then the rain and gale force winds have battered them down. I've just been outside and it is snowing.
The bluebells are holding strong and about to flower. The tiny forget-me-nots should be out soon too. It's going to be a blue spring garden. :)

Hey guys, we had a beautiful sermon this morning that I could definitely relate to since I have been suicidal in the past. It was all about that no matter what problems we may face in this lifetime the Lord is always there to get us through the storm since He is always in control and He loves us very much. :cross Before the service this morning with the announcements when even heard the story of a little girl who was miraculously healed after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. So I was definitely moved this morning without a doubt and the third song that I'm posting here I actually stood up and clapped for because it is extremely beautiful and I never heard it before until today but I just had to clap and praise the Lord for it. :clap Our church band did a wonderful job on it as well. :thumbsup

Sounds like a so wonderful service. That last song is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing April.

You're welcome and it was definitely. Actually it was one of the best services if not the best (besides probably my baptism) I've ever been to at that church or any church for that matter. :)

Well today we had a wonderful Easter service and to sum it all up,.. Christ has won!!! Death has been defeated!!! Our sins have been forgiven and all victory, glory, and honor is His!!! :woot

Well we had a very interesting church service this morning that I really liked. We learned all about that just like Pay It Forward teaches one simple act of kindness can change the world. Whether it be feeding the hungry, raising money to help the poor, or just by simply giving a smile to somebody's face. :wink

Being kind to one another and treating each other the way we want to be treated really does go a long way. :) I'm tagging StoveBolts and JohnDB on this post because I'm sure that they'll both really like it and agree with it. :yes Also I'll tag Tessa for whenever she comes back. :wink Btw, I'm doing something different today with this post. This first song is one of the songs that we sung this morning, but this second song is just a song that came to my mind during this morning's service.

Also this letter was also mentioned in our service but we didn't have time to watch it so I decided to post it and watch it for the first time just like you guys. :)

I have to say, I just finished watching the Dear Donna video and that was an absolutely beautiful message. :) Jesus loves us all unconditionally through our faults and only focuses on the potential of what we can all become. Also, I thought I would post this trailer for those of you who have not yet seen this classic movie.
