hello iLOVE, dirtfarmer here

The biblical view is two becoming one flesh, procreation. It is the ultimate human expression of love between a husband and a wife. Intimacy between male and female has a pleasure that can only be exceeded by the relationship between husband and wife because the wife has power over her husband's body and likewise the husband has power over his wife's body. Outside of marriage it is the satisfaction of lust, not an expression of love.

What if the married couple is using birth control to prevent the procreation...is it sin? Is birth control from God or from the Devil?

I have never really thought about birth control for believers. We do have a few verses in the old testament about birth control but not the pill. A brother refused to copulate in his dead brothers widow, but that was so that his brother could have an heir.

Yes, it is the LORD's choice to open or to close the womb.
Should any dump on another for the practice? No, that, also, is the LORD's purview.

It seems to me the obvious difference is that the world says sex is a free for all with no commitment or investment. In the world, lust has become the dominant emotion. Song 1 & 2 gives us the biblical view that there can and should be great pleasure in sex, but it serves to strengthen the bond between a man and a woman.

This pleasure is a gift from God. The pleasure of sex outside of the biblical world view is short and fleeting. It does nothing to strengthen the bond that God has established. Sex from the world view is free of commitment, so the two are easily separated, and they go on to the next trist because there was never anything besides momentary hormones and lust.

When God is not in the equation, it leads to the acceptance of all forms of sex that God never created us for. Same sex, group sex, even beastiality can be the natural progression of sex seeking only to serve your own desires.

The biblical world view is that sex is to be between on man and one woman in the context of marriage which honors the Lord in giving, and not only receiving, pleasure.

Boy, that last egg-head really tripped the kill switch in this discussion. What a troll... :hips

The purpose of sex is to be fruitful and multiply. God wants a people for his pasture and the more the better.

Children are always a blessing so birth control probably is a sin.

I think that sex being pleasurable was necessary, otherwise we prolly wouldn't do it.

I also think that being in the Lord's presence will put to shame the pleasures of sex.

For the male, the plumbing is on the outside displaying a need that is obvious. The female plumbing is on the inside with a desire to be needed that is not obvious. The spiritual aspect is fulfilled by the joining of the two in a bonding where the two become one. To me, sex is about a personal intimacy based on the need to know, and the need to be known.

Sex is a bond, a pleasure, and the means to have children. From the beginning God blessed us and said to be fruitful and multiply. But where sex is wonderful in a moment it, it is not strong in a long time frame. God gave us teachings about unity, two flesh becoming one, and to not let anyone divide the two. Marriage and family are important on their own scope, but with the topic of sex marriage and family are crucial. After all if sex wasn't important adultry wouldn't have been punishable by death in the Old Testiment, nor would God compare Isreal's sins and punishments to an adulterous wife. If it wasn't important either to be for us or against us, we wouldn't have been recommended to marry to avoid burning with lust.

This is what the Lord has pressed upon my heart about this question.

The Song of Songs is one of my favs because it speaks of love and yearning for someone. This love is only totally satisfied when the two of them are able to finally be together. That is how sex should be expressed between each other. The orgasmic feeling between partners is going to be the bliss we will feel when we get to be with the One we love! (God) sorry if that is too much for some of you.........
