As Christians we are called to love the sinner but hate the sin.
But what sin do you hate the most? Or describe the personality and behaviour of a truly evil person.
Cold blooded?
A murderer?
Pathological liar?
Narcissistic?
 
There is a scene in Great Gatsby which I find absolutely horrifying. One guy who comes from "old money" upper class is having an affair with a working class woman.
His mistress says something he doesn't like, so he punches her in the nose. I think the surprise element of it adds to the violence. The normalisation of such an incident is sickening. And his attitude afterwards is as if nothing happened. Tom Buchanan. That's the character's name. Utterly arrogant. He treated her like dirt. And he didn't seem to care his wife knowing about his affair.
People with no remorse. No sense of guilt.
They treat others just as a means to an end. They feel superior to the human race. When in fact they are the scum of the earth. They have no awareness of their own evil. They feel entitled to be immoral. Rules don't apply to them.
 
So Satan has no interest in others suffering. Unless he can get some sadistic pleasure from causing it.
Like the serial killer who feels sorry for himself when caught. Has no idea the pain he has caused to victims and family. It's all about them. They create a universe with themselves as God. God who can decide life and death. Has the right to torture.
Real evil is self worship at the core. Narcissism.
Oops I might be evil.
 
I think the most insidious sin I witnessed as a child is the betrayal by pedophilia. Being turned over to a pedophile married priest boyfriend of my mothers to be molested resulted in a suicide attempt at 15. When I refused, the Church was going to have me shipped off to barding school. I ran away.

It's shocking Dan. Only you would know the depths of betrayal and horror.
 
For me, the worst kind of "EVIL" and "SIN" is "MY OWN".
"Judgement begins with the house of God", 1st Peter 4:!7-18, because of "the sin that so easily entangles us" Hebrews 12:6, that we are so weak to giving in too and enjoy, and God's discipline is meant to separate us from that sin and save us. "For whom the LORD LOVES He disciplines", Hebrews 12: 3-17.
Personal sin over time is exhausting, and fighting it is so stressful, and the failure over and over to control it is so discouraging and disappointing.
And not to mention how hard it is to deal with the discipline of the LORD, that can be just PURE TORTURE?
You cry out to God and tell Him how much you hate your own sin, and beg to be released, and praise God, maybe after many years, even decades, of constant struggle, with Gods massive help, you joyously overcome.
YES, I have BEEN there!!! Not there any more ?. PRAISE GOD.

Lack of remorse. Lack of guilt. I almost envy that sin. Though I have been guilty of it. Lack of awareness of sin is like sin too.

Fair enough. But we can take responsibility as individuals that we don't get caught up in group attitudes.
I try to see not only evil in the world but evil in myself. Doesn't always work.

The evil I hate the most is the kind that purports to be good, is received by most to be good, but is evil.

Hypocrisy. I suspect Jesus might agree with you. Pharisees for example?
Wealthy white collar crime comes to mind. Where supposedly high class respectable citizens are leading a double life.

No, not the same.

You're focusing on an individual or individuals who say one thing is bad or sinful, and yet are guilty themselves. That is not the same.

I am focusing on the evil that men do and can do openly as it is received as good. They don't need to by hypocritical.
