In 1979. I joined the United States Navy. It was during my time in the Navy when I started to recognize the fact that God was controlling my life. As I traveled the world with the U.S. Navy. I was able to visit many countries and see many cultures of people living very different lifestyles. One of the things that impacted me the most. Was seeing and talking to the people of all these different countries who knew Jesus Christ. I was like wow this is not just some American fable or lifestyle. There is a lot more to this God stuff. Throughout my naval career. I celebrated Christmas in many different countries around the world. The most interesting part of this is that those people really knew the true meaning of Christmas and other religious holidays. As a result of this revelation. I returned to church and the study of God’s word. However, it would be a few more years before I actually received Christ. There is a big difference between believing and receiving Jesus Christ! Satan believes in Jesus Christ! Satan has met him in person. However, Satan is to evil to receive. I hope you understand and I pray that you receive Jesus Christ into your heart and not just believe in your mind.
In 1995, the United States government passed the North American trade agreement (NAFTA). NAFTA changed my life forever. I lost my job at Altec steel where I was finally earning a good income ($65,000 a year). It would be a long time before I would see thousand dollar paychecks again. God was working in my life again. How can that be? Why would God take away the best job I ever had in my life? I was not in the right place at the right time to play my part in God’s plan. After many prayers of asking God why did you do this to me. God answered me and told me to go to Georgia. I was scared. I did not know how I was possibly going to be able to move to Georgia. I was just starting to recover from a long and expensive family court battle with the EX. My income had just gone from $1000 a week to $400 a week. I had a house, a mortgage, a wife and a four-year-old son with autism. How could I just pack up and move to Georgia? God always provides a way.
Less than a year later, we were living in Georgia. God found us a place to live and a job with adequate income. I bounced around at a few jobs before I ended up exactly where God wanted me. My wife and I have been to a few different churches around the area. However, we just did not fit in at most of these Southern Baptist churches. One of my coworkers told me about his church and how awesome it was. My wife and I discussed it and said it’s about 45-minute drive to this church. But a church alive is worth the drive. My coworker was correct. This church was awesome. The Holy Spirit was alive in this church. The Holy Spirit dictated the services. Timetables and events were dictated by the Holy Spirit, not by any man set schedule. Church services could be one hour or four hours. Sometimes we would leaving the church four hours later and wonder where all the time went. At one of the services, the Holy Spirit took hold of me and gave me an experience that I cannot explain to you. It was an experience of feelings and emotions, visions and words. This experience was without a doubt as close to God and heaven that any living being could experience.
Shortly thereafter, small miracles started to happen. First was a nagging question in my mind. Faithful servant what gift do you ask? After a lot of thought, I responded with the gift of wisdom. I received this gift to my amazement. This gift can be a blessing and in a way a curse. Because I see and understand things particularly scriptures that others do not. Sometimes this causes me to be very sad, anxious and frustrated. On the other hand, when others do see the truth and the unveiled secrets that I see it is very rewarding. Bring me happiness and joy.
