WHO IS my neighbor?

Leviticus 19:17-18 (KJV)
17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Here it is: God has Covenant with Israel. Moses went up a mountain and came down a mountain with the two tablets of stone with the writing of the hand of God Himself who wrote the first of four commandments on one stone tablet, and six commandments on the other stone tablet. This became The Law of Moses aka the Law of God.
There were other laws God gave to His people and Moses wrote them all down.
Here, in Leviticus God continues to instruct and command His people Israel in Covenant with Him how to conduct themselves in and around the Tabernacle where they were encamped. Three tribes of the children of Israel [Naphtali, Dan, and Asher] were placed by God to the north of the Tabernacle. And three tribes of the children of Israel [Manasseh,
Three tribes of the children of Israel [Issachar, Judah, and Zebulun] were placed by God to the east of the Tabernacle.
Three tribes of the children of Israel [Gad, Reuben, and Simeon] were placed by God to the south of the Tabernacle.
And three tribes of the children of Israel [Manasseh, Ephraim, and Benjamin] were placed by God to the west of the Tabernacle.

Thus, God's Covenant people Israel have a new temporary home and God gives them His Word. The command in Leviticus instructs Covenant Israel in love.
The Word was not given to the heathen nations that surrounded Israel - and believe me they were far, far, away from this people after hearing what their God did to the sole world power Egypt in destroying that people and their Pharoah. So, they could not be considered a "neighbor." God's Word is for Israel in Covenant. So let's look at what God was instructing and commanding His people in love:

Leviticus 19:17-18 (KJV)
17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother [member of the same tribe] in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour [member of another tribe], and not suffer sin upon him.
18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people [member of any of the other eleven tribes], but thou shalt love thy neighbour [member of any of the eleven other tribes] as thyself: I am the LORD.

The lesson? God is Immutable. God does not change. God's Word is for those in Covenant with Him and the people we are commanded to love in Covenant with God is another Covenant believer.
The world is enemy against God, and God is not a hypocrite. He will and does not command His Covenant people - in this case, His Elect Church - to love the world and then He turns and love the world. The instruction is clear. We are instructed to love our Covenant brethren ONLY.

1 John 2:15 (KJV)
15 Love not the world [non-Covenant people], neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Paul teaches that love comes with profit. You cannot give holy love to an unholy people. They cannot give holy love back to you to profit from as a Covenant brethren can and would. We are commanded to not cast our pearls to swine. God is not a hypocrite to do something He instructs and commands His people to do.
Not even God casts His Pearl, Jesus Christ, to swine. He gives Christ to His Elect people: Israel and spiritual Israel. Christianity is Judaism Completed.

Anything that is written as a commentary on the scriptures has a source of who is writing the commentary. This is what I am asking for as to who wrote this. I'm not saying that I agree or disagree just asking who wrote the commentary.

Paul teaches that love comes with profit. You cannot give holy love to an unholy people

Can you post the scripture where Paul said that love comes with profit? There is no profit in one who gains the whole world for he will lose his soul, Matthew 16:26, but there is profit in charity (love) 1 Corinthians 13:3.

God's covenant is to all (Jew and Gentile, John 15:1-13; Galatians 3:26-29) who will believe on Him and His Son Christ Jesus as Jesus did not come for the righteous, but came to call the sinners to repentance.

Matthew 9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

There are God's covenant people of the tribes of Israel (Jacob) in the OT under the law and their generations in the NT being 144,000 out of the twelve tribes of Israel (Jacob) that are sealed by God, Rev 7:1-8. Then there are those Jews and Gentiles of a better covenant by Gods grace that are saved through faith that is Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:8. Jew and Gentile on this side of the cross must believe and have faith in Christ or they are not none of His own.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Our neighbor is all that we have mercy on, Luke 10:29-37. It's God's mercy and grace that sent His only begotten Son into the world, John 3:16-21. Grace pardons us as mercy loves us.

1 Corinthians 13:3 (KJV)
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

When we exercise our gifts out of the love of Christ in us who manifests Himself in the gift and in love, the brethren are blessed and receive profit and vice versa. This is why we are not to cast our pearls to swine. There is no profit. Just a black hole.

The brethren are always blessed by God for they are His own, but we are also to take the Gospel out to the world (neighbor) as we share our witness and testify of Christ.

Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

If the dogs and swine (people) refuse to listen to the Gospel being preached to them then don't judge them, but walk away from them as they will never receive it as it is already discerned in their rejection and the fool (one who rejects) and transgressor (conceited hypocrite) already have their reward being already judged by God.

Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

The sick are our neighbors who have not Christ, but need Christ to make them whole.

You didn't understand the neighbor in Covenant with God is another believer of another tribe.
God ordained dogs mate with dogs after their kind, horses mate with horses after their kind.
But you disregard God's ordination completely. You have swine mating with swine and having sheep.
You're not listening. I gave you Bible but you ignore the Bible for what YOU want to believe.
I can't have a discussion if you ignore the Word of Truth.

Let me ask you a question.
Do you belief the sacrifice of Christ was enough to cleanse us of our sins?

Luke 10:29

English Standard Version
But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

How does the story Jesus gives as a response fit into your narrative on neighbor?

As you notice, each person was Covenant. The instruction is to do the same to those in Covenant.
Only.
Love comes with profit and the unsaved do not have love, God's love, and cannot give this love that comes with profit. As we exercise our gifts to and with our brethren they are blessed, they receive profit as well as the one exercising the love.
Exercising love, Godly love to the unsaved is giving love to a black hole, there is no profit and it is casting one's gift to swine. The Lord forbids this.

I see, and as far as the part about the covenant, to which I will refer to as the Sinia covenant, I agree.
We both understand that both the Jews, which name derives from Judah and the Samaritians, which derive from Ephraiham and Manasseh were both present and entered into the Sinia covenant, thus, were bound, as Leviticus 19 states.

I believe this Mashal has, at its heart two main points.

1. It answers the question, "Who is my brother" As you have correctly stated, both Jews and Samaritins were under the Sinia covenant, yet both worshipped God differently. Not only that, their theology was radically different to the point they were violent toward each other. Christianity has seen this same hatred for her children by her children. We have become a stench to our neighbors. Psalms 18.

This shows us that even though our theology can be radically different, it is not our place to sit as judge. The ministry of Jesus was Reconcilliation, and we are commanded to "Walk as Jesus walked".

2. The fellow beaten and left for dead, we know nothing about his background or ethnicity. He represents the nobodies, at the same time representing the everybodies.

The Sinia Covent had mission attached to it... to be a light to the nations.

It does not teach me to withhold love from non believers. Actually, we are commanded to love our enemies and within that framework, Roman soldiers were included.

What are your thoughts?

I believe there was no ambiguity in Christs' words when HE commanded the following three things to us His fol.llowetrs ( notice Ice stopped using the word " believers" which is a watered down word for followers. Followers in my dictionary are those brothers n sisters in Christ who not only believed in Christ as savior BUT also choose to pick up their cross, deny their flesh and Follow Him ( much as Christ ordered). The ones who take the pains to OBEY

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

By using the swine and pearls example I believe we are trying to avoid Gods commands of loving ALL. Jesus even commanded us to love the enemy and the ones who persecute, He reminds us there is no reward in only Loving those who love us.
Matthew 5:43-48
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The Christian walk is a very hard ( but very fruitful--- shall I say eternally fruitful :) I find it difficult to love some people, But my love for the Lord is so deep that I am willing to try to love everyone. that is one of the greatest messages of Bible ( after fearing God and loving Hom and turning away from ALL sin to righteousness)

Thank you sister Tessa, I'm glad to be back :). Will be more careful before I post a message though. Lol this one was fraught with typos and autos! Anyway greetings, blessings and love to all. May all be at peace /\

I was reminded of he Lord that if I do not cast my pearls before the swine and let them trample it afoot, then how else shall the prodigal son find his pearl of great price?

Zechariah 3:8-10
Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou,
and thy fellows that sit before thee:
for they are men wondered at:
for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.
For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua;
upon one stone shall be seven eyes:
behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts,
and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
In that day, saith the Lord of hosts,
shall ye call every man his neighbour
under the vine and under the fig tree.
