:topic Who were the four beasts and four and twenty elders?

I have yet to see anyone directly answer this question: I will !
They are the BRIDE of CHRIST to rule with Christ over the earth !

The OP asked Who were . . There is no WERE to it, and I'm not scared of no Preterist "It's all over," and so let's dig a bit further into who these are with Jesus prior to Daniel 9:27, and temptation which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. When are these with Jesus? Rev 4:4 & 4:6 prior to tribulation.

When looking for my downfall when exhorting you to rightly discern scripture, something to consider is the manner of all caught up to meet the Lord in the air.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Pertaining to the OP, 24 is the number of priests (c.f. King David diving the priests into 24 groups).

The two main theories I heard (in which I'm not pushing either one on people) is that 1) these are saints in heaven who will come back with Christ if you believe in the pre-trib rapture, which means the first resurrection also occurred except for some "Tribulation saints" who are converted afterwards also join them at the Second Coming. The verse they use is "you have made us kings and priests".... If the translation is correct, then the pre-Tribbers have a point except if these could be those few resurrected with Christ and then ascended, just part of the church, the first of the saints but not all of them which is an alternate, similar theory.

2) These are the angelic priests in heaven. When they sing the song, the translation (some say) is "you have made them kings and priests" and are singing for and on behalf of the saints presently undergoing persecution on this earth (take note that the prayers of the saints are compared to the altar of incense going up to heaven as well). If this translation is true, then I can see how this could be a heavenly choir.

There was a time when I was more adamant in what I believed, and thought it was all figured out, but then again I can see other viewpoints have validity as well. Whether talking about rapture/second coming, BOTH seem to be connected with the feast of Trumpets taking place at that time. Now some separate rapture/second coming as separate events, which means the Trumpets feast has to occur twice and have two fulfilments in the future. I lean to just one, simply because I'm big into time, and what the feast represents, so my position was not influenced by any one group over another, but rather just the idea of (for want of a better word) God's "scheduling".

Hi Tim and thanks for the response, I am pre-trib and Mid-trib and consider the twenty-four elders to be those that are the dead to be caught up first, and the four beasts or living ones as Ezekiel calls them to be those that are alive to be caught up together in the air with the twenty-four elders. There are but two of the seven descriptions of the church in Rev Chapters Two & Three that fit the characteristics of this company of the bride of Christ. They are in heaven round about (Rev 4:4) and in the midst (Rev 4:6) of the throne, while later arrivals that come out of great tribulation stand before the throne (Rev 7:9). Even later are the one hundred and forty-four thousand that arrive in heaven in Rev 14:1. They also stand with Jesus, but as with the tribulation saints they stand before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders who are already there (Rev 14:3). Before proceeding I'll await the bashing I'm to draw for thinking. :)

A small part of tim-from-pa post. Amen Tim....Amen....

The feeling of peace when that same realization hit was rewarding. Often i am so sadden by the spitefulness i read here, in ET and across the internet... This is a wonderful tool are we using it for His glory? Self included

Understanding the chapters would not be read if i posted them here i will leave a verse so the context can me looked up..

1Ch 23:32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.

1Ch 24:18 The three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah.
1Ch 25:31 The four and twentieth to Romamtiezer, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve.

1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

The use of numbers all through the scripture are quite symbolic. I doubt i will ever come close to grasping all their meanings ..
