Its probably too expensive for many homeowners to replace them. They would just let them be, as long as they are harmless.

A cross is an interesting shape for a house. I wonder if they were Christians.
The city removed them as most were along well traveled streets . they offered them to any who would take them.only,s few were bought .these were all over .the city electric grid which up,to last year extended outside into the county . I don't recall any photos of,them in county streets mostly the old city parts .original town,Edgewood and the beach ,and city limits probably all of it . I,don't think every street had them since the city had groves and farms in city limits and up,to the 60s in topos I can see old groves .mid century modern subdivisions weren't built with pedestrians in mind and probably started having cobra lights put up.I know the city did start putting those inn.the old timers of that time were long gone .I met a few who did work in the diesel plant .when it was the only plant

Probably necessary, as modern lights are brighter, and use less electricity. I remember my grandfather being happy that the new lights on his street were so much brighter than the old ones. I still have an incandescent motion control spotlight on my garage. My neighbor's modern motion control spotlight is much brighter.

Its interesting to contrast how things change over the years.
