Why don't Christian women cover their hair?

This makes so much sense. Just be modest. Hair can be long and even worn modestly, or worn provocatively or otherwise inappropriately. If a lady choose to wear a traditional style head covering when she worships, that's ok too, whatever her heart convicts her of.

I never heard of a lady cutting her hair because it gave her headaches. Oh I beieve it if she said so. That's ok. I would not try to tell a woman how to dress herself or wear her hair though. I can tell her if it looks good, or not.
Never have you seen hair to their legs ,that pulls back on,the skull ,just like bigger breasts it causes back issues .

We have to keep in mind that the Lord is not the author of confusion. The verse is fairly short and very clear.

1 Corinthians 11:
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.../

Short. Clear. Nevertheles, I did doublecheck in Strongs as to the definition of covering within this verse...and it was not as you said.

There are 14 verses in the passage addressing head coverings for women. Your whole argument rests on a single verse. Try to make you case without that one verse.

It's very common for people to see their non-biblical doctrines in the Bible. A psychologist calls it bias confirmation. I call it people just trying to rationalize their rebellious behavior and doctrines. And, there's no shortage of false teachers to tell people they're right.

Paul says, "A man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven. For if a woman will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a woman to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. "

Without calling long hair a covering in the above quote, Paul links long hair to a head covering, but necessarily not as the same thing. If a woman doesn't cover [that's a verb, not a noun as you seem to think] her head, she might as well shave her head. Therefor, long hair can't be the head covering Paul says women should wear. It's simple logic, if you're willing to follow it. As it is, you're just dismissing most of what Paul says as a convoluted way to say women should have long hair.

If you want to continue your position, could you explain why Paul uses a totally different word when he says a woman's hair is a covering vs. when he says a woman should have her head covered?

The single verse that you extract out of context is just an argument (Paul's third argument to wear a head covering) that women should wear head coverings because long hair is a covering showing women should wear a covering (over the long hair).

Man's hair was not given to him as a covering or to be his glory. That is a feminine attribute. I'm sorry you're having difficulty understanding the chapter.
I'm having trouble understanding the passage? Your interpretation has Paul telling the women to put on their hair. I don't think it's me that is having an issue understanding the chapter.

Modestly....don't wear the most lavish dress or a potato sack. Blend in with the average person.

Modestly swings both ways. Under-dressing is immodest.

If the average woman isn't wearing hats or veils...then don't.

What if the average woman is in rebellion against God? What if the average woman jumps off a cliff, would you then too?

There's a point where you can dress so far from normal that it looks like you're wearing a costume (see the Amish). But, women wearing hats and scarves is still normal, just not highly common among supposedly Christian woman. (Not to bash just women here, most men also fall far short of living up to God's teachings.)

More importantly is the reason most women don't wear head coverings, they're following customs recently created by feminists who are most defiantly in rebellion against God.

Ok, do it without that one verse. Ok, we'll go one verse further and tell me if this is relevant?

1 Corinthians
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.../

It seems as if he is saying that it's not a big deal one way or the other.??

I have another verse too.

1 Samuel 16:7
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have [a]refused him. For[b] the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

How's that?

I am following the Bible.

1 Corinthians 11:15 - - - - For long hair "is" given to her as a covering.

Our long hair IS the covering. God created it that way. Why are you gonna go against God and put something on top of what he created for the covering! Stupid.

Two similar passage state something about this issue, I Timothy 2:9-15; and I Peter 3:1-7. Or maybe I should say are completely quiet about the covering. LovethroughDove IMO hit it on the nose, in the city of Corinth prostitutes where know to have short hair. Paul wants followers of Christ to be above reproach so he is exhorting women to grow long hair.

This is evidence when looking at both I Timothy 2:9-15 and I Peter 3:1-6, neither mention a woman’s head being cover. I use to believe women with prayer coverings were the most beautiful women in the world.

Then about 8 years ago working late at the Wal-mart in my hometown saw a gal that look like Jana Duggar in the store. I remember I started to pray to God if she the oldest Duggar daughter. This woman is the most graceful and kindest woman I have ever meet. She came up to Produce and ask me about cantaloupe l remember hearing God voice stating unashamedly this is my daughter. Like an idiot I didn’t talk to her much I will go to my grave regretting that. She is by far the most gorgeous woman I have meet. Even though she was physically beautiful her true beauty can from understanding God’s Word in I Peter 3:4. No head covering can compare to this kind of meek and quiet spirit.

Could one of the moderators get back to me and tell me what I said to have my post deleted. I try very hard to just post my own personal opinion. But at the same time I don't always agree with people. I did not know there was censorship here It's a little disheartening to think that I can't speak my mind. So it doesn't happen again please tell me what I said that was so out of line. Be specific.

I have made a huge decision. Last week my front tooth fell out and I didn't have the money to go to the dentist. So I'm going to start wearing a veil to cover it up. This is a perfect time for this because everyone else is wearing a mask. Actually now that I think about it will the mask take the place of the. veil since it covers our face. Also I need someone to explain to me the difference between a head covering and a veil I always thought a veil was something you wore to wedding over your face and that a head covering was like what the nuns wore. So do I wear both. Is one and more important than the other. Let me know.

Hi Susannah
Paul wasn't telling the women to cover their face, it was just their hair, whole praying or prophesying.
Jesus didn't mention it. Read what Paul said and why he said it. Then follow whatever the Holy Spirit convicts you of. To me the important thing is to do what you truly believe, either way.

I think it's important to distinguish between headcovers and veils. I would have no problem with covering my head. But to hide my smile would be an issue. I will read what Paul said. Thanks for the information

Right, no such custom as allowing women to pray or prophesy without a head covering.
1Cor.11:10
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head, BECAUSE OF THE ANGELS.

My Covering is Christ.

Lots of people disagree with me, BUT
I believe that they should be careful of the fallen angels.

Matt.24:37,38

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.
They were drinking, marrying and giving in marriage....

Gen.6:2
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all which they choose.

Another flood is coming, a flood of lies....

Rev.12:9-17

The great Dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan...he was cast out into the earth, and HIS ANGELS were cast out with him.

And the serpent cast out of HIS MOUTH WATER AS A FLOOD after the woman,

Anyways, lol
1Cor.11:
11: nevertheless NEITHER is the man without the woman, NEITHER the woman without the man, IN THE LORD.

We are ONE in CHRIST

Gal.3:28
There is NEITHER MALE NOR FEMALE, for ye are ALL ONE in CHRIST Jesus.

Thus, no such customs...

Some Catholics cover their hair...kinda....and only while praying. Although I've seen larger doilies than some wear while praying.

Muslims require women to cover their hair and face completely. Because they believe that if a man has lust it is a woman's fault.

And a facemask provides you with minimal protection from others....but it protects others from you a great deal. (If you are unwittingly infected with the virus).
Which is why we wear masks... considering others more important than ourselves.

But the veil thing is a tradition that stems from Isaac and Rebecca. Also I believe that Jacob and his wives as well.
Men wore veils too there to help filter out the dust but removed them often in order to speak. Women, as one half step above property, didn't have any reason to remove anything except to cause trouble.

the veil that men wore as this is still done in afghanistan often was a piece of cloth, they wore them only if they are in dusty conditions. chaldea, where Abraham was from was on a river. and full of lush vegation. many of those cities that make ancient chaldea as you know are found in ruins but are being studied when the wars permit.

a hijab has no veil and women working in the farms didn't have it on. imagine working a plow in 130 weather and it isn't even noon!. especially in Iraq where a bottle of ice within 30 minutes will melt and become warm!

I don't have a dog in this fight. That said, I don't know that the letter to the Galatians cancels out the letter to the Corinthians. It would seem that Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek..." is meant to quench division among the believers, rather than to homogenize expectations.

I went to the store find a veil and they asked me when I was getting married. I am going to find a head covering because I'm thinking about shaving my head. Everyone take care.

It says somewhere in the bible that women should have their heads covered and if men do it is a shameful thing. This holds no importance, but i guess more reverence is shown when women cover their heads and men do not.
