Interesting thoughts, Douglas Summers. I'm not sure of the logic you have for Christ not being our King.
Hi K2, It is not logic, it is the Gospel (Rev. 1:6) (1 Cor. 4:1-8) In 1 Corinthians chapter 4, this particular church had already acted as if they had already received their crowning. That will not come until the Lord comes for His Body (The Church, The meeting Him in the air). Then we will receive our crowns as rewards for our sufferings with Christ. There are many different crowns in Scripture for His Church. BTW, here is what we do with the crowns, given us from God. (Rev. 4:10-11) We throw them at the feet of the Lord as He sits on the Throne. The Church is represented by the "ELDERS" in verse 10. Notice that Revelation Chapter 4 starts out with The Lord calling up His Church ("and the first voice that I heard was, as a TRUMPET talking with me, which said,"COME UP HERE", and I will show you things which must be hereafter........After what??? After Chapters 1 through 3, which were all about the Churches. So after His body is complete "called the fullness of the Gentiles" (Rom. 11:25). So after His body (His Church) is completed, He says, as the sound of a trumpet, "Come up Here". Compare (Rev. 4:1) with (1 Cor. 15:51-53). We are a ROYAL priesthood, born to God by rebirth of the Holy Spirit. You must be born again.

In the Gospels, Jesus repeatedly refers to the kingdom of God. It is His kingdom.
John 18: 36: Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

That is absolutely correct. But Christ is still the king. Just as an earthly king may have brothers and sisters, so are we the brothers and sisters of our King.
1Ti 6:14-16 (RSV) I charge you to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ; and this will be made manifest at the proper time by the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.
And what will "the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ" be like?
Rev 19:11-16 (RSV) Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems; and he has a name inscribed which no one knows but himself. He is clad in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, followed him on white horses.
From his mouth issues a sharp sword with which to smite the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron; he will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, King of kings and Lord of lords.

The "Lamb" (Jesus) is also identified as the King of kings and Lord of lords. (Rev 17:14)

Rev 1:4-6 (NKJV) John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the (A) ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and (B) has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen
(A) Jesus Christ is called ruler of the kings of the earth as the King of Kings.
(B) We have been made kings who are subordinate to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Jesus is the King of the Kingdom of God.
Mat 28:18 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
He is our king and the Body of Christ IS the church.

Col 1:24 I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,
I can't really disagree with most of what you wrote. I'm just offering an alternate perspective.

Yes, I agree. I take nothing away from Christ Deity, nor do I mean to make any pride of self of our future position. It is just that the more man knows what God"s purpose is in life, the more the believer can walk with victory in that purpose..

How would you define that purpose?
I see that purpose described in Eph 4:10ff (RSV)
Eph 4:10 He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11
And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness (PLEROMA) of Christ;

(Note that in Christ the fullness (PLEROMA) of deity dwells in bodily form. (Col 2:9)
And at Rom 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren.

So, as I see it, our purpose is to be just like Christ (except we're not deity). We are to be restored to the perfect image and likeness of God in which man was originally created.
And then we may do as God does and love the world (KOSMOS) so that it may be saved.

Hi Jim, I have answered to a post to "for_His_glory". If you will find it, it will give you more of the Scriptural work and purpose. But the short answer is (Rom. 8:28-34) "to conform to the image of Christ" This means COMPLETE conformity. But man had to be brought through many trials and tribulations, (that through them) he might finally see that he needs God. Scripture says "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" (Proverbs 1:7) But what knowledge do we gain by fearing the Lord? (1 John 4:18).

Yup! That's the objective. And it isn't accomplished by one "sinner's prayer."
But man had to be brought through many trials and tribulations, (that through them) he might finally see that he needs God.
Some do; some don't. That wasn't my experience.
Scripture says "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" (Proverbs 1:7) But what knowledge do we gain by fearing the Lord? (1 John 4:18).
The fear and awe of the Lord is the beginning, the starting point. The end point is to conformed to the image of God Who is love, truth, life, light, and more.

I was speaking here Jim about mankind through the ages. They suffered needlessly because they thought they could do it their own way. The Garden of Eden, The flood, stay out of Egypt, Those trials that they changed from God's will for man to self willed worship.

Christians are called to work while they wait for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His saints. We do not work for our salvation, but we work out our salvation.

Yeah, we do work out our salvation, but there is something much more than that. We work for the Lord because we love Him and so we want to do what He personally asks of us.

For example the Bible tells us the God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, but why did the Son come? What was His reasoning? Well the Son is God, so He too must have loved the world and enough to come, but still He was going to have to go through the cross. It was a bit more for Him. It is written that Jesus learned obedience at the cross, so there was also an obedience aspect. Yet we have freedom in Christ, so if we know the Lord we don't actually have to do everything He tells us, otherwise there is no freedom in Christ. Yet we want to do the things He asks, and that because we love Him. So He must also have had freedom, a freedom to have come or not to come. A freedom, yet a love, to where He prayed "Your will be done" though He wanted the cup taken from Him. Jesus indeed loved the Lord His God with all He had, and that is why He went to the cross. That is how and why salvation for us got worked out.
