I don't vote so that question doesn't apply to me and you don't need to know history to know 911 is what you call for medical emergencies. Although I will admit, some parts of history actually do interest me, it's just not my favorite subject that's all and I shouldn't have been forced to learn it. Things like the constitution and stuff, that's actually very important to me.
septemember 11th, why do you even care to recall that?

its in the PAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its HISTORY. see my POINT, that is the day that I was in the process of dying, the process wasn't complete until apr 27. 2005. the day that I came back as a war veteran forever etched from the things I was ordered to do and had to do.

Person, you cant serve but you created a thread about September 11th. the war of 1776 to 1787 isn't personal to you but its affected you! I had to understand it a bit more. the army marching methods come from that time and have been tweeked , I spent my life under the influence of the men and traditions they created that I had to understand. age forced me to appreciate them and why.

I guess its me, I miss being part of the cog, civilians are chaotic, I get to do something bigger then me, more then going to church, no that being a missionary is any less or serving in that church is any less but for me its what I had to do.

Jason I am very interested in history. We had to remember loads of dates for the exams and I wasn't good at that. They went back hundreds of years. But I still did read up on history at home.
I hate the survey method of history but I understand why.

in 1066 king Edward of hastings was defeated by the Norman conquero and England was born

now then my least favorite subjects was any English literacy class, ironic that now I have an interesting in learning of the styles of plays they used and so forth. subjects of things that I often find in references here in photos or stories.

Look, I never said that I didn't respect the military. I am very patriotic and I always thank them for their services whenever I can including you. that has absolutely nothing to do with what I was trying to say.

yet you claim that History isn't something that is something that you should know.

of course ,unless you are docent, a teacher, or in a sub set of a related field of science called anthropology that is also part of history you cant make a living on that.

I have questioned everything I was taught at one point. I understand that from History reading that until 1954, there was no under God in the pledge and prior to the 1890s there wasn't even a pledge at all.

Ah yes The Battle of Hastings.
English History is an interest but mostly I focus on Local florida history as its easy to find a story and building to photo and a person who I can point to that was there or related to the event in question. ie waldo sexton.

Alright I see your point but let me rephrase that,.. if somebody didn't know it, it's not like they wouldn't be able to make a living or anything. It isn't going to help them out with life, it's just one of those things that it's good if you know but it shouldn't be forced at you.

That makes sense.

look up Tessa , this Savannah,Ga, boneventure cemetery and this name Cranman.

I am tied to that city as you know. I know a name will pop up and a place. Cranman insurance and sporting goods and also the street.

you don't have to know the English language either.. I know plenty of immigrants who mow, build and repair and don't know a lick of good English.

so I must Strongly disagree. I can take that argument and say then the school ought not to remember anything with September 11th, or take a moment to remember the Holocaust. by ignoring History we often will repeat it. see why YOU must know it?

arbacht mon frie, yuden. work my jew for you see it shall set you free!

I was just wondering because Joey and I hated school so much (except for a few things like finding each other) and we're sort of torn whether or not we would let any future children of ours dropout. On one hand we're saying sure go ahead since we both hated it and were forced to go, but on the other hand we're thinking that if we were forced to go through it then they should be too so what do you guys think about it?

Drop out just to drop out, or to pursue learning in an outside the school system venue?

School won't teach them anything valuable for life. Home schooling is where it's at...
My brothers granddaughter down in Columbus quit going to school, but still does the work online somehow so she can graduate...I don't know if your school district offers that or not?

I used to play hookey from school so I could stay home and read and educate myself...I recognized that the schools were teaching meaningless tripe, so, stay home I did. (Really and truely)

Plus, when I officially quit, I went down the same month and got my GED. they gave me a prep test to see if I'd need tutored first...I did not need tutoring. Passed my first try.

I'd say, don't let them quit without a plan. Have a plan to continue learning...

I may not change your mind. but I will be darned..

why are you a patriotic? what makes you think we have been the freest nation if you didn't know history? if you didn't get forced to know what the red ,white and blue means and why we should honor the ideals of it. sorry , tess the union jack is yours and that is something I don't know about.

though the battle of brittain is a topic I need to read more and britons were taught to fly in my town and were stationed at banana river nas, where I dreamed of Jeannie is based out of , aka Patrick air force base.

I'm sorry but I must disagree with you on the English part because of the fact that America is an English speaking country for the most part and I'm tired of having to try and deal with people who don't know it. And really I don't know a lot of history and I'm doing just fine. I don't have a problem with the school system teaching it I just don't like it being forced at me. Leave to the people who actually want to learn it and with September 11th, you really don't need to know a lot of history to know that it happened.

I used to go to school just to socialize. (Girls, lol)
I almost never did the assignments, but would take the tests, and pass them...so my teachers hated it but had to pass me. Oh I was a rebellious one, lol.

That makes sense.
which is why they ought to, I was told of homes, events that I often post here.

vero had a navy base. the bunkers were west of dodgertown. these homes on oslo were owned by the Helseth. this building here, was made in the Spanish revival and the Spanish had Florida as colony, the Spanish homes were built in the roaring 20s. the bank with the tunnel goes back to prior to the depression, the womans club was the first library. etc etc.

I think I already pointed out that some parts of history is important.

English isn't an a National language.

I am not arguing that it shouldn't be but telling you that I can function without it here. I see it all the time. I know a man whose dad came here and never learned English in Miami and made a ton of money here. Miami is a very multicultural city. its not going to change despite trump as the money that is there isn't even white, but mostly Latino citizens.

now then. without using YOUR bible. tell me why as a JEW I should believe that MODERN day Isreal has a right to exist?

you don't need to even believe IN moses to see that a fact. I was raised on the reason why Isreal is to be based on the events way past moses and ad 70. I had to know it.

all of it. apologetics will require that you know biblical archeology and historical verification of events recorded in the bible but are mentioned outside of the bible.

just because the bible says it doesn't mean that the history isn't out there that verifies it. yet we find events that verify what the bible says. a good student of the bible will want to know that. so you say that to relate to the blacks who cant move on from the jim crow era you shouldn't at least know that time and what that was about and how it went down?

Umm,.. I don't have a clue what you're talking about but all I know is that I don't care about all that stuff anyways. All I care about is Jesus and the way He wants me to live my life. Sure there are other Bible stories and stuff that interests me like Noah's Ark, Daniel and The Lion's Den, Moses and The Ten Commandments, but they actually have lessons that I can apply to today and the other stuff I'm just not interested in. All I know and care about is treat other people the way you want to be treated regarded of gender, race, religion etc.
