There is absolutely no reason to put a single number into paratheses. If used this way it usually means "Let's confuse the heck out of everyone!" :lol

(2)2+2-2/2x2=??????

a.) 4
b.) 2
c.) 8
d.) none of the above

Working!

We could use parens for clarity, ie. -(2/2) x 2 or -[2/(2x2)]
My Dear Aunt Sally rules apply:
Multiplication before Division, both before Addition then Subtraction.
the first multiplication is 2(2) = 4
the second multiplication is 2x2 which also equals 4
then comes the division
2/(2x2) = 2/4 = 1/2

As stated: (2)2+2-2/2x2 = [(2)2] + 2 -2/[2 x 2] = 4 + 2 -[2/4] = 6 - 1/2 = 5.5 or (d.) none of the above.
