Hi, I was wondering what are younger people who are of either a churched and unchurched background looking for (and I mean here like 18-early 30s). What attracts you to a church and what are you looking for in the teaching and preaching? Thanks!

This is a great question! My husband and I are moving in a few weeks to a new state. We will be looking for a church that takes discipleship seriously. We would both love to be taught and mentored by older and wiser men and women. We are looking for truth and the desire to go deep into the Word, for us, without all the "production and lights and pageantry". We like smaller churches with fellowship. Most of all, where God leads. Who knows!?

We know people who don't go to church and they all say they are simply so confused and don't know where to start. They often feel intimidated by huge churches and they are turned off by the big scenes. They just want truth and connection.

I hope this helps.

For my family and I, we would seek a church that goes the extra mile to work with our special needs children. We have a church we attend, but it has become more or less impossible to go because our oldest son, who is Autistic, is bombarded with attention and an expectation that he has to be social with every person in the church. I think churches try to hard to be friendly places, when if the gospel is being taught, we'd all feel enough love in the place as it were.

Blazing, I really feel for you. I have seen your dilemma first hand with a child and his parent. It broke my heart. I will pray for you and God's will for you and your blessings ( children ).

For me...I guess one that espouses the basic tenets of the faith, one that is active in reaching out to the community/ministry...I feel like there is more to church than just going there and listening to a sermon and then leaving on your merry way. I want to contribute something.
