I guess we can continue talking about water baptism and the baptism of Christ as I now see it is relevant to the OP since Philip was teaching the eunuch.

I want to add this scripture before I go any further.

Act 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Act 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Act 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

No literal water baptism is for the receiving of the Holy Spirit. John's water baptism was a sign of repentance and remission of sins as the water symbolized the washing away of sin before that of Christ being water baptized as He had to associate himself with humanity as Jesus had no sin to repent of.

Only to his apostles
Authority of the Apostles!

What authority does Christ have?
What power does Christ have?
What mission / ministry does Christ have?

Peter, the apostles and their successors have the same authority, power, and mission! Jn 20:21 as my father sent me, even so send I you!

The apostles are Christ’s successors!
They have authority to send others as well, apostle means one who is sent!

Therefore the apostles have authority to send more apostles or successors!
Apostolic succession!

The nations still need to be taught, disciples still need to be baptized and the church the new covenant kingdom of christ still needs to be governed!

Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Christ is an apostle, and has authority to send other apostles, the apostles also have this authority, so the apostles continue down thru the centuries as Christ promised! Matt 28:19-20

Keys of authority! And power to bind and loose! Matt 16:18 and Matt 18:18 matt 28:19 Isa 22:21-22

Moral authority:
(Teaching)
Necessity of being taught by Christ:
Two edge sword: defining truth and condemning errors, and Interpreting scripture.

Jurisdictional authority:
(Governing / administering)
Necessity of Peter and the apostles and their successors to govern the holy church.

Spiritual authority:
(Life of Grace)
Sanctifying thru the mass and Sacraments

The apostles teaching is Christ’s teaching, Christ and His church are one! Acts 9:4

Christian rule of faith is not the Bible alone! But the doctrine of the apostles! Acts 2:42

Jesus Christ continues HIS ministry in His new covenant church thru Peter, the apostles, and their successors with the same mission, power, and authority!
Mt 16:18 Mt 28:19 Acts 1:17 acts 8:31 & 35 Lk 10:16 Jn 8:32 Jn 13:20 Jn 15:5 Jn 16:13 Jn 20:21-22 eph 2:20

Lk 10:16
He who hears you hears me...

John 13:20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Only the church has authority from Christ to define the truth and teach!
Matt 16:18 matt 18:18 matt 28:19 Jn 20:21-23 Jn 8:32 Jn 16:13
Power and authority is given to us by the grace of God to carry on the commission of God to take his word out into the world for the hope of others as Gods Spirit draws them into his salvation. This power gives us victory over the wicked forces of Satan and his dominions that are in the world trying to defeat us in our quest for the Lord if we take authority over him in the name of Jesus. Ephesians 6:11-13 is God's power through His word that gives us the power and authority through the Holy Spirit.

Christ authority came from the Father as Jesus never did anything outside of that which God gave Him to do and say, Matthew 28:18; John 12:49-50.

We as a child of God through the Spiritual rebirth from above are the servants of the Lord just as the Prophets and Apostles as God calls us to take His word out into the world. It's not the Prophets or the Apostles words, but that of the word of God who gave them to speak. We succeed in picking up our cross and following Jesus according to the will of God as we continue to take His word out into the world making disciples of others, Matthew 28:19-20.

The new covenant kingdom of God is governed by God, not man.

Christ was an Apostle by the definition of the word, but also part of the Godhead in which the Prophets and 12 Apostles were not. The Son of God was sent into the world that through His birth, death and resurrection that all can be saved by faith and believe in Him, John 3:16.

The keys of authority and power is given to all of us that are Christ own as He calls us to take His word out into the world. All who are Hos own are His disciples.

There is no moral authority as it is Spiritual given to us as the Holy Spirit works in us and through us as we have died to self and live for Christ.

Jurisdictional authority is given us through the Spiritual gifts as the Holy Spirit gives, 1 Corinthians 12:28-31. Many self appoint themselves having a form of godliness, but denying its power, 2 Timothy 3:5.

Spiritual authority, the life of God's grace and sanctification comes from God alone as we are made righteous by His righteousness, Romans 5:1-11.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The word of God is the writings in the Bible that through the Holy Spirit teaches us all things including faith.

How do you define the church and please do not say the Catholic church.

It, water baptism, is also for everything written of in Romans 6.
Romans 6 is speaking about being dead to sin and alive to God. We are no longer slaves to sin, but slaves to righteousness.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

It says nothing about water baptism, but says, Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Baptized into Christ, not baptized in the name of Christ.

That is part of it indeed.

It says nothing about Spirit baptism either, but Spirit baptism cannot simulate burial like baptism in water can.
Baptized into Christ, not baptized in the name of Christ.
You found the third function of water baptism...introduction into Christ.
1 Remission of sins by baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:38, 10:47-48, 22:16)
2 Death of the flesh/old man (with the affections and lusts. (Gal 5:24),
3 Insertion into Christ. (Rom 6:3)

There is nothing wrong with immersion in water as this is an outward appearance to others that you have received Gods Salvation and the Holy Spirit. When the Disciples where in the upper room they all received the Holy Spirit, not by immersion of water, but by Gods Spirit falling on them. What about those people who can not be immersed in water that are incapacitated. Peter did not say that it was through water that we receive the Holy Spirit in Acts 10:47, 48 he was saying that others should not forbid a Gentile who wants to be immersed in water, but repentance must come first. After repentance and the Spiritual rebirth, John 3:5-7, we are then baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire through that of Christ baptism according to Acts 2:38, 39, Matthew 3:11.

John’s baptism was for the showing of one who repented of their sins first and then symbolized of actual water that they were made clean again. It was not for the receiving Jesus or the Holy Spirit as Jesus ministry hadn’t started yet and the Holy Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost in the upper room. When Jesus was baptized of John it was to fulfill Gods righteousness in Him to receive Gods power and authority to start His ministry here on earth. Water baptism is an outward appearance to others that you have been made righteous through Christ and have receive the Holy Spirit as we are given Gods power and authority through His grace to be His servants and witness here on Earth as Christ was.

Mat 3:14 But John forbade him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Mark 10:39; 16:15,16; Acts 2:38 It is Gods Spirit that was in Christ and which we are now baptized or have received as the disciples did on the day of Pentecost as when Jesus ascended into Heaven the Holy Spirit came down and fell on those who received Jesus and his word. The baptism that Jesus and Peter was talking about was a Spiritual rebirth through Gods word, not water, Luke 3:16, as Peter taught it was through repentance and accepting Jesus and his teachings is when we receive the Holy Spirit.

As you have gone "unscriptural", I recommend we leave this topic to others.

What do you mean unscriptural as I gave plenty of scripture. You were the one who said you knew nothing about the baptism of Christ so I would suggest you take time to thoroughly study about what it means. We can move past this if you prefer.
