I just want to sing to God all the time, like I used to back in the 90s.
Ever since He did something in my heart last year.

I do still listen to classic rock throughout the week, but mostly to either WayFM or a playlist I have on Spotify, though right now it is mostly Christmas music.

If any of you haven't had the chance yet, I would recommend watching to The Chosen's Christmas special. Quite a few good artists are showcased in that.

I am rather calvinistic myself. As Jasonc mentioned I quote the WCF a lot. I have a page on Facebook I post the Q&As every day. I do like an eclectic mix of music. My current faves are For Kind and Country, and Crowder (in addition to MercyMe). I do like the music from some other bands, but can't help thinking that the lyrics are either misleading, or simply naive, when it comes to biblical doctrine. One song that comes to mind is by CAIN: Rise Up. It is a nice song, but they clearly are missing the message when it comes to the account of Lazarus.
I like for King and Country a lot. And while I like staying very close to the Biblical texts, I’ve noticed that the Pentecostal movement has a different theology, which is simply to say they are discussing the scriptures in a different way than I’m accustom to.

To your point, Cain does not retell the biblical account of Lazarus, in their song “Rise Up”, but instead, it seems to me they use the story in a similar way as an object lesson, which should encourage, and empower us to “come out of our grave”, metaphorically anyway.

I do enjoy the song, and my wife has led it in worship multiple times.

I don't really listen to Christian music all that much. Mostly listen to country, classic rock, 80's stuff, and music from Disney and things like The Greatest Showman. Right now I am listening to Christmas music.

If I do listen to Christian music it's Skillet and Casting Crows.

My issue is that it sounds like inspirational music versus worship

You do know the Psalms were within corporate worship.

Psalm 121:7-8

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Sounds inspirational to me.

Within the psalms, you will find that worship incorporates inward, outward and upward forms of worship.

Inward worship helps us reflect on who the Lord is to us, and what he has done for us as individuals. Outward worship helps us reflect as a community, that we would build each other up in the Lord. Upward worship helps us reflect and proclaim who God is.

In all three types of worship, God is the centerpiece. He is the centerpiece of the individual, the body and as the Trinity.

Those were poetry .

I get that .but they don't use allegory like that song does .
I'm familiar with charismatic .it tends to be centered on what God promised but at times those aren't quite supported
