Yes, Jesus will come again. Yes there is a period of the Mark of the Beast, where normal social activity is excluded. Yes, Jesus will stand outside the gates of his own church. Yes, there will be a New Heaven and a New Earth.

Actually, I believe Jesus already has come again, and is among us. The "last days" if you will, come in each generation to test us as Christians, before we are raised again. The "Mark of the Beast" occurs whenever the state takes over completely. It happened under Communism, it happened under Nazis, it is happening again (COVID masks and vaccines). However, the Revelation prophecy is actually a big hoax against Christians by Jews and Romans.
The HyperTexts John of Patmos: Errors, Contradictions and False Prophecies
Hint 1: Much of it is written more like Jewish literature. Case in point, the 30 minutes of silence? Something Jews would know about as it is when the incense is burned in the Temple. (Largely Gentile) Christians would know literally nothing of this, but any Jew would be able to explain it. Ditto for many of the strange prophetic images.
Hint 2: Jesus in Revelation (his name might as well be in scare quotes) is depicted as holding an iron rod, and called a "morning star." That's the name for Lucifer, the false light of the world. Also, the iron rod is a depiction of absolute power. Iron is forged by warlords in weapons of war and destruction. "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them call themselves benefactors. But you shall not be like them. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who leads like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as one who serves."
Hint 3: The intense brutality of this 'Jesus' against sinners. Yes, the secular world does some seriously bad stuff, as consequence of their decision to be ruled by kings and not by God. Yet God allowed them to do this. Yes, there may be a breaking point. But this action and its responsibility is to struggle against the "powers and principalities" not "flesh and blood." The state of Babylon will indeed fall, as the state of Israel fell in the Old Testament. Yes, Christians will be put to persecution, time and again. But Jesus said, "And if any man hear my sayings, and keep them not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world." Jesus did not condemn the sinner, he did not even condemn the Pharisee (though he gave them a hard time). In fact, this is why Jesus was betrayed by the crowd, because they expected him to be a liberator or freedom fighter, not someone to forgive others on the cross.
Hint 4: Christians are condemned for having the Mark. Yeah, it is seriously bad news to have a society based around the Mark of the Beast (I heard today of a man who was denied a heart transplant for being unvaccinated). But "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: 'For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." How then can a manmade device separate us? This is what really deceives the elect, that anything on this Earth can make us apart from God. But neither will I swear any loyalty to this false world and its stupid rules.
Hint 5: Likewise, Christians are condemned for unclean food, adultery, or worship of idols. No more than normal. Jesus said on two occasions that what enters a person could not corrupt, only what comes out of a person.
Hint 6.66: Galatians 1:8 - "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!" Yet John (if that is John, since I read 3 John and the writing style seems different) teaches that grace is not sufficient for salvation, but avoiding a Mark, avoiding sin, and being utterly perfect during this time. But all this works theology is not in line with the Gospel. "I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"

So here this "Jesus" comes along, and supposedly nukes all the non-Christians, then there are supposedly 1000 years of "peace", where "Satan" will be locked up, yet somehow there is no grace during this time. No sin of any kind will be allowed, and people will try to die but cannot. I'm probably mixing up passages, but you get the idea. We should trust what we know of Jesus, and trust that Jesus does allow evil in this world, because evil is part of God's plan. One day, suffering will fall away. Not free will. A careful reading of Genesis reveals that knowledge of Good and Evil was an intentional gift, not a sin. There is no possible way that God could have forbidden in by putting it (1) dead center in the garden of Eden, (2) not making the fruit out of reach, or (3) not having anyone or anything to guard it.

It think that's everything I want to say.

The Bright and Morning Star is one of many names for Jesus, not Lucifer.

Hi and welcome.

Glad to have you here.

Hopefully you don’t believe Revelation is a lie.

Yup, I believe Revelation is a Lie. Or rather, Bad News written by the Devil. But the Bible is Good News.

The Good News is that Christ died for our sins, and not for ours only but the sins of the whole world.

The WHOLE WORLD. Your own site gave me a random passage, just now "I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd." Yet Revelation seems to think that everyone who doesn't accept not just Christianity but a very tight definition of it will be damned. Jesus came, not to judge the world but to save the world. To bring in other flocks so there will be one flock. Now, the false Christ also may attempt this, by trickery or coercion. But the true Christ will do no such thing.

"The Bright and Morning Star is one of many names for Jesus, not Lucifer."

Modern scholarship generally translates the term in the relevant Bible passage where the Ancient Greek figure's name was historically used (Isaiah 14:12) as "morning star" or "shining one" rather than as a proper noun, Lucifer.
I then searched the link under morning star (Venus), and there was nothing about Jesus. QED.

Yup, I believe Revelation is a Lie.

You are free to believe what you wish, however I would ask that you please not promote the idea that any book of the Bible is a lie.

From our Statement of Faith --

Doctrinal Statement

We believe that the Bible is inspired by God in its entirety, and is without error in the original autographs, a complete and final written revelation from God.

Again, please do not promote the idea that any book of the Bible is a writing of demons.
These are the list of names for Jesus.

Comments in Red, I will mark in blue any names that seem to be dreamed up just for Revelation.
ADAM: (1 Corinthians 15:45)
ADVOCATE: (1 John 2:1)
ALMIGHTY: (Revelation 1:8) (Hitler is said to have used the term Almighty frequently in reference to God. He also killed scores of Jews)
ALPHA AND OMEGA: (Revelation 1:8) (Jesus said that he does not come in his own name but in the name of the Father, but the one who comes in his own name the people will accept. And here is this blowhard declaring himself the "Alpha and Omega")
AMEN: (Revelation 3:14) (Uhhh, that's not a name for Jesus or God. Amen is what you say in conclusion of a prayer)
APOSTLE OF OUR PROFESSION: (Hebrews 3:1)
ARM OF THE LORD: (Isaiah 51:9)
(Isaiah 53:1)
AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH: (Hebrews 12:2)
AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION: (Hebrews 5:9)
BEGINNING OF CREATION OF GOD: (Revelation 3:14) (Even this is not correct, for John 1 says, he was with God in the beginning, and the Creed says Jesus was begotten not made (created))
BELOVED SON: (Matthew 12:18)
BLESSED AND ONLY POTENTATE: (1 Timothy 6:15)
BRANCH: (Isaiah 4:2)
BREAD OF LIFE: (John 6:32)
CAPTAIN OF SALVATION: (Hebrews 2:10)
CHIEF SHEPHERD: (1 Peter 5:4)

DAYSPRING: (Luke 1:78)
DELIVERER: (Romans 11:26)
DESIRE OF THE NATIONS: (Haggai 2:7)
DOOR: (John 10:7)
ELECT OF GOD: (Isaiah 42:1)
EVERLASTING FATHER: (Isaiah 9:6) .
FAITHFUL WITNESS: (Revelation 1:5) (I will sustain this one, because it correctly mentions that Jesus washed our sins with his own blood, and it is suitably humble to be something the real Jesus would say)
FIRST AND LAST: (Revelation 1:17) (See Alpha and Omega above)
FIRST BEGOTTEN: (Revelation 1:5) (Sustained, see the explanation above about begotten not made)
FORERUNNER: (Hebrews 6:20)
GLORY OF THE LORD: (Isaiah 40:5)
GOD: (Isaiah 40:3)

HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL: (Isaiah 41:14)
HORN OF SALVATION: (Luke 1:69)
I AM: (John 8:58)
IMAGE OF GOD: (2 Corinthians 4:4)

KING OF THE AGES: (1 Timothy 1:17)
KING OF THE JEWS: (Matthew 2:2)
KING OF KINGS: (1 Timothy 6:15)
KING OF SAINTS: (Revelation 15:3) (We should not worship the saints. And Jesus is not the king of the saints, he is their High Priest)
LAWGIVER: (Isaiah 33:22)
LAMB: (Revelation 13:8) (Sustained. Jesus is the Lamb of God. However, this context itself is an objection. Jesus himself warns of those who appear as lambs but inside are ravenous wolves)
LAMB OF GOD: (John 1:29)
LEADER AND COMMANDER: (Isaiah 55:4)
THE LIFE: (John 14:6)
LIGHT OF THE WORLD: (John 8:12)
LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH: (Revelation 5:5) (While Hosea does speak of a lion, tying this to other prophecy, Proverbs 28 compares an unjust king to a roaring lion. "Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.")
LORD OF ALL: (Acts 10:36)
LORD OF GLORY: (1 Corinthians 2:8)
LORD OF LORDS: (1 Timothy 6:15)

MESSIAH: (Daniel 9:25)
(John 1:41)
MIGHTY GOD: (Isaiah 9:6)
MIGHTY ONE: (Isaiah 60:16)
MORNING STAR: (Revelation 22:16) (To the best of my knowledge, only in Revelation is Jesus compared to a morning star. This is particularly telling, because it references back to passages about Lucifer)
NAZARENE: (Matthew 2:23)
ONLY BEGOTTEN SON: (John 1:18)
OUR PASSOVER: (1 Corinthians 5:7)
PRINCE OF LIFE: (Acts 3:15)
PRINCE OF KINGS: (Revelation 1:5) (Jesus is King of Kings, but now he has been demoted to a prince?)
PRINCE OF PEACE: (Isaiah 9:6)
PROPHET: (Luke 24:19)
(Acts 3:22)
REDEEMER: (Job 19:25)
RESURRECTION AND LIFE: (John 11:25)
ROCK: (1 Corinthians 10:4)
ROOT OF DAVID: (Revelation 22:16) (Branch of Jesse, not Root of David. The branch absorbs the sunlight, the root only sees darkness. He emphasizes his connection to David, to proclaim his right to kingship. But Jesus rejected kingship. They tried to make him king and he fled. Also, see Morning Star.)
ROSE OF SHARON: (Song of Songs 2:1)
SAVIOR: (Luke 2:11)
SEED OF WOMAN: (Genesis 3:15)
SHEPHERD AND BISHOP OF SOULS: (1 Peter 2:25)

TRUTH: (John 1:14)
WITNESS: (Isaiah 55:4)
WORD: (John 1:1)
WORD OF GOD: (Revelation 19:13) (Sustained. But mentioned before this, so I still reject it. Also, whose blood is he clothed in? This "Jesus" is rather a butcher.
So you see, these names might exist, but they are not necessarily true names. Particularly if they originate from Revelation.

I also consider Lady Wisdom to be one of the names of Jesus (NOT of the Holy Spirit, as some propose). Lady Wisdom calls to the wayward and the sinner offering them mixed wine and right company. Mistress Folly resembles Lady Wisdom but offers them a path to destruction.

I have been studying Revelation passages for a few months now, and it made me suicidally depressed to think on a God that seems to be leading us towards End Times, but to no good end, since I know that none of us are righteous enough to measure up if grace is withheld. Then I read this link on the OP, and while I'm still a gloomy type, I felt like a tremendous weight was lifted from my shoulders. Galatians 1:8 says that passages that contradict the Gospel should be ignored and people declaring them are false prophets (which Jesus said to ignore). But John himself says to how to discern true teachers: by their ethics, their proclamation of Jesus in the flesh, and by their love. Do you see any love here? Because I only see judgement of nonbelievers.

To be inspired by God means the people writing it had a personal encounter with God. Recall Jonah, however. Some people called by God nonetheless disobey and do the opposite.

There are non-canonical books of the Bible. The Apocrypha and Pseudopigrapha are some examples. Gnostic Gospels. Heretical texts.

I would like to propose that Revelation is one of these that has false authorship, and thus snuck itself into the Bible.
There are methods of removing books from Canon, and if it does not serve the good of the Church, they should be.

Much of the Revelation is actually Bad News, and I have pointed out. "Do not be afraid," virtually all good angels declare. Yet here, the angels delight in torturing sinners and even Christians.

However, the Revelation prophecy is actually a big hoax against Christians by Jews and Romans.

When someone declares the bible or parts of it false etc it is usually because that person does not understand it.

Revelation is aconfusing book of word pictures.

We need to take extra care as we read it and seek to understand it.
John is describing things he does not fully comprehend and is using things he knows to describe them.
This makes it doubly difficult for us to understand as our background is very different from his.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John. Revelation 1:1

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 1:7-8

Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” Revelation 22:7

I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” Revelation 22:16

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18

  • if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life

The word Revelation means unveiled. What is written in the book of Revelation spans the whole Bible beginning with Genesis clear up to that which God gave Jesus to show us about the signs to watch for in the end of days as an outline in Matthew 24. Jesus sent an angel to John to reveal all these visions which are all prophecies that the Prophets of God in the OT prophesied of that must come to pass before Christ returns.

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Revelation is a hard book to understand as you can not just sit and read it like a book as it is very symbolic as well as literal in how it presents itself. It's not about a vengeful God who seeks to destroy, but that all will turn back to Him before the door of His salvation is closed forever when Christ returns. It is not God, but those who have rejected God and His Son Christ Jesus that will have damned themselves, John 3:18-21. God will destroy the evil in this world during the seven trumpets sounding, but the good news is that God will in the end restore the heaven and the earth as He ushers down the New Jerusalem where all who believed by faith will dwell with Him forever.

The Disciples who sat with Jesus on the Mt. of Olives in Matthew 24:3 asked Him three questions, when shall these things be, what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? These three questions are now revealed to us as the Spirit of God has revealed them to John who told him to write these visions down and give them to the Church for instruction and understanding.

May God bless you as you allow your Spiritual eyes and ears to be opened as the Holy Spirit reveals all truths and gives us wisdom and understanding of the word of God. We are not to fear that which has to come, but be prepared for when it does so we will not be taken as a thief in the night, but to be a faithful watchman waiting patiently for that great and terrible day of the Lords return.

You need to quit surfing damaging websites that lead you away from truth as we are not to fear that which must come first, but be prepared that God's wrath will not fall on us. If you are interest I have written a detailed book on Revelations you can find in the End Times forum under the subtitle Revelation and I pray it will open your eyes to the truth.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Hi Goldwing. Good to know you are into the Book of Revelation. You now have the enjoyable task of comparing over 500 cross-references between Revelation and the Old Testament.

Old Testament References in the Book of Revelation
By: Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum, Th.M., Ph.D.
Founder and Director of Ariel Ministries

There are over five hundred references to the Old Testament in the Book of
Revelation. The following is a list of such references, but it makes no claim to being exhaustive
or complete.

Some of these references back to the Old Testament do speak of the very same thing
as the Revelation. However, in others, the Revelation merely borrows a phrase or motif for the
purpose of developing a new area. This distinction should be kept in mind in the study of those
Old Testament references.

Many christians only wish to see one aspect of Gods character, that is His love. However, God's laws of love also demands justice, for the Godhead as well as the righteous, which requires the unjust unrepentant to be punished, and often destroyed in order that forthcoming generations have a better change of understanding God's love and teachings, therefore blessings during this life, and into eternity. Therefore, I don't think it wise to say, "[Rev.], it's not about a vengeful God", when a couple sentences latter you say, "God will destroy evil". This will seem contradictory to many, as it does to me, I'm sure.
"You need to quit surfing damaging websites that lead you away from truth as we are not to fear that which must come first, but be prepared that God's wrath will not fall on us."

Glory, I have not read into your study of Rev., yet but would like to, but as yet have not figured out how to get into it. So I have a few questions for you. In (Rev.,7:1-4), four angles are commissioned by God to destroy the Land, Sea and Trees. Where in Rev.,is more detail of this destruction given? What is your understanding of (Rev.8:2-5)?

Hi Goldwing. Good to know you are into the Book of Revelation. You now have the enjoyable task of comparing over 500 cross-references between Revelation and the Old Testament.

Here is the link and introduction to the list: http://www.johnsnotes.com/documents/OldTestamentReferencesintheBookofRevelation.pdf

Thanks for the info, Exeter.

If you want to read the book I wrote on Revelation just click on "Revelation" that is found in the End Times forum.

As for the rest of your post where did I say that Rev is not about a vengeful God as in the end of days He is going to destroy all the evil in this world. Of course we are not to fear that which must come first. They who have done evil against God have already damned themselves and God's judgement against them is the lake of fire.

I too am a student of Rev., and I am not aware that Rev., speaks to any old testament themes. Please share.
Then you need to go back and study the OT prophecies that the Prophets foretold about the end of days. What was spoken of by the Prophets of the OT have been revealed in the book of Revelation by the visions John received.
