Revelation clearly states it's a city built on 7 of 10 hills which is Rome, confirmed historically, biblically as the kingdom that conquered Greece. This is a fact! The verses you're referring to is referring to a religious worship of falsehood spirit not Jerusalem the city. Jerusalem is not built on 7 of 10 hills.

Another interesting fact would be that in the 16th century the 3 remaining hills were made into one to house the Roman Popes, leaving only 8 hills today which could fulfill the Beast as being the 8th hill with the seven!

Sorry, Revelation makes no mention at all about there being 10 hills (or mountains). You are confusing mountains with horns.

Also, since the Bible is about God's people and not about Rome, Jerusalem (and it's inhabitant's) fit well.

And yes, ALL the world wondered after the beast Israel, huh?:study Rev. 13

There was the Roman Empire and there was the city of Rome. The great whore was a CITY that REIGNED OVER the Rulers of other countries...that would have been the city of Rome when Revelation was written. The Rulers of Israel could not kill Jesus without permission from the ruling city of Rome and that was given through Pilate.

Just my opinion, starting to look like the USA. :eeeekkk

You have to remember to look at this meaning of the word "whore" from God's perspective. God is a jealous God, so when he calls this entity a whore, he is describing the cheating committed by the love of his life.

The love of his life is not the USA. He has made no covenant with the USA. His covenant was with the people of Israel. They were his chosen people, his bride. It's because his bride rejected him that he labelled her a whore. It wouldn't make sense for the USA or Rome or even the Catholic church to be given this label by God. Only the children of Israel were his bride and Jerusalem was the apple of his eye.

The entire chapter of Ezekiel 16 is directed at Jerusalem. It doesn't get much clearer than that.

Revelation 18

1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Now if that isn't abundantly clear I don't know what is.

Yet readers can not see this obvious statement about Babylon and instead seek some kind of physical location such as Israel or Rome.

blah blah blah

Read it...you can't see those things with FLESH eyes.

Repeated, Babylon the great is the habitation of devils and every foul spirit.

You need look no closer to home because 'your sin' is in fact OF THE DEVIL, period. Look inside if you want to see Babylon.

Where does 'she' sit? Again, the text tells us CLEARLY:

Rev. 17:

15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Does that sound like 'just Rome' or 'just Jerusalem?'

No. The whore sits on the 'whole world'

1 John 5:19
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

BUT I feel that the Bible tells us that ANCIENT Jerusalem as opposed to modern Zionism fits the description. In the OT, passages like Jeremiah 3,13 and Ezekiel 16,23 describe Jerusalem as a whoring woman.

Many feel that the RCC as well as "apostate christianity" as a whole fits very well with the descriptions in Revelation, but I believe that Jerusalem circa 1st century fits even better.

A bit late, but welcome to the foxhole.

Here are earlier posts expressing the same idea:

Understanding the identity of Mystery Babylon (the great harlot) changed my entire view of the book of Revelation.

The Great whore of revelation is just mere false relgions, of all kinds and its influence upon the world without Christ, the True Christ !

Why do you continue to post this same, meritless, baseless, unsubstantiated claim every single time someone posts facts to the contrary? What are hoping to gain by repeating this falsehood over and over again?

I don't think the "Whore" is Jerusalem, mainly because the text stats that sailors where watching the city form afar, and mourning on their ships. This gives me the impression that it's a coastal city.

It does give the impression that it is a coastal city, but if you read carefully you'll notice that it does not say that the sailors could see the city burning from on board their ships. It only says they stood far off. The description of the sailors only illustrates the fact that so many merchants traded with her.

I know there are lots of reasons to identify the whore as various different things but I've always believed you need to read unclear scripture in light of clear scripture. And the clearest scripture of all regarding the identity of the whore is Ezekiel 16.

Ezekiel 16 actually says "This is what the sovereign Lord say to Jerusalem: ... you trusted in your fame to become a prostitute ... you carried on your prostitution ... you engaged in prostitution with male idols ... you slaughtered my children ... was your prostitution not enough? ... in addition to all your other wickedness ... you engaged in prostitution with the Egyptians ... you engaged in prostitution with the Assyrians ... I am filled with fury against you ... acting like a brazen prostitute ... you adulterous wife! ... This is what the sovereign Lord says ... because you poured out your lust ... I am going to gather all your lovers against you ... I will bring on you my wrath and jealous anger ...

And it goes on and on and on describing the prostitution of Jerusalem and how the Lord's anger will burn against her.

How, in the face of an entire chapter that answers exactly what we are debating here, can anybody deny that Jerusalem is the great prostitute?

It only says that Babylon is under the influence of evil. That doesn't preclude Jerusalem or any other physical place.

Jerusalem traded with the whole known world and prostituted herself with the whole known world. Ezekiel 16 makes that pretty darn clear. So yes, the whore sits on multitudes and nations and tongues.

Everything here seems to be Jerusalem this, and Jerusalem that. I will study this issue on my own and make my own decision, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

They were mourning their economical losses of not being able to trade from Israel & the temple anymore.
The harlot chose to worship the beast (pagan Rome- "we have no king but Caesar!") It was old Jerusalem. Figuratively called "Sodom & Egypt" Literally where the "Lord was crucified." (Rev.11)

Read the scriptures. They are very clear. No twisting required. Bottom line is where the Whore sits are people, and that would be 'all' of same.

And that would be your intent twisting the logic to fit same. Makes zero sense.

Won't bother to restate the obvious which come from the text itself. Any reader who sees a single locality is just not much of a reader or a reasoning mind. And in fact many can't be because that power remains sitting upon people today.

Christians in particular have an extreme proclivity to excuse themselves from those facts and that excuse comes from within their own minds from that power of the Whore.

I'm not twisting any logic, and please don't suggest that I haven't read the scriptures. You obviously see things a different way, but if you want to convince me or anyone else you'll have to do so with sound arguments not antagonistic comments.

I've shown you that in Ezekiel 16 the Lord himself calls Jerusalem a whore, and not just once but many times and clearly explains why she is called a whore. That's a pretty clear argument for my case.

You have not made any similarly clear arguments for your case.

You have not made any similarly clear arguments for your case.

That's because there is no rational exegetical support for any other position than the one that sees apostate first century Jerusalem as the harlot of Revelation.

People refuse to accept this, however, because it has far-reaching implications regarding the rest of their eschatology.
