Creation and Earth's Age

This topic seems to be off great interest to some. Seems fitting that it has it's own post. I do not hold to a young or old earth as I have yet to concretely come to a conclusion on the matter. Honestly, I have no problem seeing both sides of the debate. However, I do fully reject any system that denies the divinity of creation. Col. 1:16 clearly credits Christ with the creation of all things; "For Him and by Him." The plan designed by the Father, executed by the Son, aided and held together by the Spirit, for the glory of the Son. I believe, holding to, either a young earth or an old earth, in no way diminishes the validity of Christ the creator. At best, it just plays havoc on the dating of events told of in the Bible. I look forward to other's thoughts and insight.

Is this link related to Gap Theory?
Or
Is the link an alternate theory?

If it remains posted I have some comments. If anyone cares to hear them.

The 'gap' is only there because the Bible describes the act of creation and then jumps forward many years to Cain and Able leaving a gap in the story.

The link describes how creation happened. There is no point arguing about any of it.

There were scientists from Sheffield University trying to pick holes in the science and they couldn't. Seeing as how the Biblical account mirrors the science, God's Word was safe. This is a wonderful example of divine inspiration.

What source is used to arrive at such an age?
We cannot deny what is scientifically known for sure.
It's known for sure that the universe is about 14 billion years old.
I can't remember the earth's age, but I think it's about 4 billion years old.
Maybe Cooper could help out.

What all this has to do with Adam and Eve, I do not know.

God could have created them at the beginning.
He could have created them at some point in deciding that He wanted moral and conscious beings with God-like qualities.

It seems that science has agreed that we all come from one pair of humans.
Also, there doesn't seem to be any EVOLUTION from primitive man to what we see today.
Those images of progression in the human species we see in museums are no longer accepted scientifically.

You are right. The earth is about 4 billion years old.

Man in Hebrew is 'âdâm or aw-dawm.' The translators have capitalised it so it appears as Adam
The first woman meaning 'life giver' is Eua or Eva in Hebrew, and has been translated, you guessed it 'Eve.'
They aren't names at all, just Hebrew words meaning man and woman.

While I agree with you as to who created, I do reject BBT idea of creation as it is not supported in Scripture.
That is your prerogative.
But I do wish to remind you that the bible is not a scientific book.
It's a book about God's relationship to man.

The BB happened.
Accept it or not.
It was probably when God said: Let There Be Light.

How do YOU believe God created?
And how can you be sure?
Did God write the Genesis account, or did He inspire it?

Many young persons have left the faith because of statements such as the one you've made above.
Not everything that happened is in the bible.

Does the name that means "he laughs" or something similar mean he wasn't a real person? What about the name that means "rest?" Was that not a real person? I have heard something pretty cool. Here are the meanings of names of the line of Noah. All of these names had meanings as was common in the OT. Does not mean those men did not live.

#NameHebrew Meaning
1AdamMan
2SethAppointed
3.EnoshMortal
4.KenanSorrow
5.MahahlalelThe blessed God
6.JaredShall come down
7.EnochTeaching
8.MethuselahHis death shall bring
9.LamechThe despairing
10.NoahRest, comfort

As for the age of the earth, how can this be measured when the earth did not start revolving around the sun for a period of time and time is measured by that? But I suppose if your "ruler" has units of billions between marks, 4 billion, 5 billion, 3 billion, 6 billion....what is the difference? And the earth itself cannot tell its age as catastrophic events change the measuring line.
