The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

OK, no problem. Just wondering why you included the other question if you were only responding to the former one.

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

Of the responses given, that may very well be the reason, as WordWhisper'r also touched on. BTW, any particular reason for quoting my "I'm not sure what you're asking" question to Hidden In Him?

    Accepted.

    THE SABBATH

I never said that. I don't know where you're getting that. I never said that.

    THE SABBATH

What are you saying no to? I never mentioned anything about the Sabbath. Where did I say anything about there being a special day?

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

Gordon's post and your link seem to be referring to calendar days when talking about the significance of the number 3. I think that a number of folks believe that any part of a calendar day could be counted as a day. Is that your position?

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

But why did it have to be three days and three nights? Was there something meaningful about that period of time?
  8. R

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

No problem. Perhaps someone new looking in might have some idea.
  9. R

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

But again, why 3 days and 3 nights? Why not 2 days and 2 nights? Was there something special/meaningful about the former?

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

So then you don't think there is anything meaningful about there being 3 days and 3 nights.

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

But why 3 days and 3 nights? Why not 2 days and 2 nights? Was there something special about the former? I'm not sure what you're asking.

The Messiah and 3 days and 3 nights?

When responding to the Pharisees, why do you suppose the Messiah made the specific point that He would be in the "heart of the earth" for 3 days and 3 nights?

Defending the faith: A discussion of Catholic Doctrine

I don't see where the account says that the disciple was someone named John, much less an apostle. But even if it was John the apostle what is there in scripture which absolutely prevents him from being a brother of the Messiah?

    THE SABBATH

You're missing the point. Regardless of what the reason/s may have been for their activity, they did it daily. So the Acts account can't legitimately be used as support for the 1st day of the week being a special day for worship apart from the other days of the week.

    THE SABBATH

1 Corinthians 16 does not say that the Corinthians met together on the first day of the week. The text merely says that each one of them lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper on the first day of the week. The Wemouth reads: "Let each of you put on one side and store up at his home"...

    THE SABBATH

How so? If it was, it was not applicable. That's ok with regard to Baptist doctrine. Oh, come on; sarcrasm is beneath you.

    THE SABBATH

OK, leave "rest" out. She wrote: "The scripture says they met and worshipped the first day of the week. This was probably convenient and not an official edict." I assumed that she was referring to regular weekly meetings on the 1st day of the week. I'm still not aware of any scripture which...

Defending the faith: A discussion of Catholic Doctrine

I'm not aware of any scripture which says that. What scripture do you have in mind?
