    Question about Bible Version....

Have you ever stopped to think it's the staid KJV that has rejected dynamic equivalence so we cannot understand the meaning? Leave the NIV to people like me who know that meaning-for-meaning translations are better for the common folks. Oz

    Question about Bible Version....

Writing Greek is not equivalent to understanding Greek words, grammar, and syntax. I think you need to do some more advanced study in Greek and Hebrew. Oz

    Question about Bible Version....

Dorothy, Are you a translator of the biblical languages? Do you know enough of Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek to be able to translate accurately - either formal equivalence or dynamic equivalence? I most definitely can discuss the particulars - without logical fallacies. Oz

    Question about Bible Version....

Dorothy, You did not quote the Greek for Ps 51:5. You quoted the Hebrew. Don't you know the difference between these 2 languages? The NIV gives the clear meaning of the text. It is a meaning-for-meaning (dynamic equivalence) rendition which is so much easier to understand than the KJV...

Dorothy, Please give us 5 examples of where the NIV has changed the meaning so that we understand less about God and His ways. Oz

Dorothy, Please, please provide examples to which you refer. Otherwise I'm left to consider it is your bias. Oz

    Question about Bible Version....

The NIV is a meaning-for-meaning (dynamic equivalence) translation. It is expected that there will be translational differences when dynamic equivalence is used. It does not mean the NIV has removed a great deal of the text. It means it is translated to give greater meaning for folks like me who...

Why the Church Gathering Has Changed

In countries where tax deductions have been given to churches, Boards are necessary for government accountability. I don't live in such a country. We do allow tax deductability for Christian developmental organisations such as Compassion International, Samaritan's Purse, etc. Oz

    THE FORMULA FOR SALVATION

wondering, You will get different steps for monergism (Calvinists) vs synergism (Arminianism). This is my understanding of the steps for Monergism: God predestines all who will be saved. God elects them to salvation. One Monergist engaged in evangelism told me he was seeking to find the...

    Question about Bible Version....

Do you think the average Christian has the academic background to discern better translations? I use the NIV, ESV (which is not a new translation but an update of the RSV) and sometimes the NET. When I'm writing for everyday Christians, I sometimes use the NLT. All of them are good translations...

    Question about Bible Version....

Louis J, By the way, it's International and not Internation. "Man" in English refers to human beings or someone. Depending on the context, the Greek, adelphoi (plural), refers to brothers and sisters or brothers. If you want an accurate modern translation, choose the NIV, ESV, NET, NLT, CEV...

These Signs Will Follow Those Who Believe (Mark 16:17)

Alfred, Thank you for your apology and I accept it in grace. You accept the Textus Receptus, based on your a priori presuppositions as allegedly given by Divine Providence. You haven't proven it to me. You are making assertions without demonstrated evidence. Oz

Protecting His word, but it has to be the Byzantine MSS of the NT for you. You are selective with what "His word" means.

These Signs Will Follow Those Who Believe (Mark 16:17)

Alfred, Codex Sinaiticus is a 4th Century Greek Alexandrian MSS housed in the British Library and is considered to be the oldest Greek MSS known. There are portions of approx 5,000 Alexandrian MSS in the world. The Greek NT that Erasmus used for the KJV was the Textus Receptus, dated to 1516...
