    If Heaven Didn't Exist

I have fibromyalgia from a car accident.

    If Heaven Didn't Exist

It's a good question. Most people assume everyone would want to live forever, but it's not true. I wouldn't. I sometimes joke that I'm ready to go now. Part of that is because I'm in pain, but it's more than that. There has to be something beyond this existence. If not heaven, than something...

    Whosway?

It was just a politeness device. Would you prefer me to be more direct?

    Whosway?

I admit that this can be pretty annoying, but to tell you the truth I actually agree with it to the nth degree.

    Guilt

I agree. I think we were all there at one point.

    Science Vs. Christianity

I don't necessarily see geography as an issue. Any inbreeding population can potentially support recessive genes, or we wouldn't have recessive genes today.

    Guilt

I see. Well, it is difficult, I admit. People have brought this up before. I not only saw Hell, I saw people already there. Thus I do not personally subscribe to the scriptural interpretation of abode of the dead. I believe Hell already exists, and has been taking customers. As to your...

    Bible Study His Buried Body

Our Lord may have died of suffocation long before all that, while He was still on the Cross. That was the most common cause of death for someone hung up that way, as the weight of one's own body pulls down against the lung cavity.

    Guilt

Ah, so you're going by the concept of Sheol as abode of the dead, and hell is either not in existence yet or if it does exist is not yet populated?

I don't understand what you mean by this?

    Science Vs. Christianity

OK, I see your point. How about this then: species differentiation is coded by a recessive gene, which gets passed on silently to successive generations until there is enough frequency for double-recessive matings to occur? The double-recessive offspring can not mate with the previous...

    Guilt

Back to hell. I have certainty that it exists. Not because of belief. Because I've been there. I had what the Bible would call a "vision" of hell. I had faith before my experience. After, I had complete certainty. Good enough for you?

    Science Vs. Christianity

Why not, though? We currently all start as pairs of single-celled organisms. It now only takes nine months until we're fully-differentiated vertebrates, not three billion years like the first time. [As biologists say, "Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny". Yes, I was a bio major.]

    Science Vs. Christianity

Estimates vary, anywhere from 300,000 to as much as 800,000 years ago that modern humans speciated from the genus Homo. Call it about a half-million years ago. The first Homos, i.e. humans, emerged some 2 million years before that. The definition of species is correct. Something is a different...

    Science Vs. Christianity

You don't know how close you really are. Biologists believe that the modern eukaryotic cell- which we are all made of- evolved when simpler single-cell organisms decided to form bigger cells by banding together as organelles and surrounding themselves with a protective membrane. One of the...

    Science Vs. Christianity

Whoa there, those ancestral single-cell organisms were not human, early or otherwise. Human = member of genus Homo. Modern human is the species Homo sapien.

    Guilt

Well, good thing we have the Bible then.

    The Borg

Because calling yourself a Christian is not enough. I believe many is the Christian who ultimately is lost. How can a Christian go to hell? Unfortunately, there are a few reasons. Probably the biggest is unforviveness still in their hearts; if you do not forgive others, God cannot forgive you...

    Guilt

I don't think I'd make it so cut and dried. We all live in the gray area between heaven and hell, and a lot happens here. But ultimately, there is a choice that must be made.

    The Borg

It doesn't create a paradox, it offers a discrete choice: the ways of the world, or the path of true and eternal salvation. Sadly, most people choose the secular path. Christians choose the path less traveled.
