Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

Or perhaps they were never saved in the first place, which explains why many have fallen away. Matthew 24:10 And then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another.

It's not the same language. Lost means the sheep have lost their way. They don't have a shepherd. Wanders from the truth means the brother isn't obeying the truth. Perhaps the brother is living in sin, sowing to the flesh, or something like that.

Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

James doesn't say anything about the Shepherd who finds his sheep. Like I said, Jesus was sent to find the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matthew 15:24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” His sheep were lost in this world because they were not of this...

Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

I believe a person can fall into unbelief if he has an evil unbelieving heart, though I would question whether the person with the unbelieving heart was ever saved in the first place.

Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

They were his sheep (lost in the world) and Jesus was sent to find them. Matthew 15:24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” When he finds them, he doesn't lose them again. John 6:39 and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all...

His sheep don't become lost after they are found. His sheep were lost in this world. Then they are found. Then there is rejoicing in heaven.

You have to read it in context. John is saying antichrists have come, meaning they have come into the church. But then he says they have gone out from us, but they were not of us, meaning they were false, for if they had been of us they would have continued with us. The antichrist is he who...

Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

Jesus said many will fall away - fall into unbelief, worship idols, leave the church. But as John said 1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out, that it might be plain that they all are not of us...

Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

Not sure what your point is. The warnings/words Jesus gave us are meant to keep us from falling, to keep us from harm. Jesus gave us instructions - to overcome the evil one. Do you know we are engaged in a spiritual battle? Where is your faith? If God is for us, who is against us? Who is there...

Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

I'm proposing that God knows what he is doing when he makes men. So if he makes men for salvation, they will be saved. I hold, 'You have been saved' Eph. 2:5 'You are saved' 1 Cor. 15:2 and 'to us who are being saved' 1 Cor. 1:18 as well as 'will be saved'. So I hold salvation is a promise...

Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

Why would Jesus say you have to be born again? I think it's because believers can fall away. So a man can fall away. On the other hand, if a man is born again, he is not just a believer, he is a believer who has been saved by God himself. If God saves a man, he is indeed saved, and no one can...

    St. Mary . . .

How are James and Joseph and Simon and Judas related? Are they brothers? So it's ok to call them brothers, but when it comes to Jesus, the word has a broader meaning.

    St. Mary . . .

I think Paul is saying childbearing is one way of serving God. Since women are not allowed to teach or have authority over men, so Paul allows women serve God by bearing children, (especially God fearing sons). Then he adds, "if she continues in faith and love and holiness, with modesty." 1 Tim...

    St. Mary . . .

Not necessarily. It's certainly encouraging women to have children, but it's not condemning unmarried women or women who can't have children. 1 Timothy 2:15 Yet woman will be saved through bearing children, if she continues in faith and love and holiness, with modesty. So if she continues in...

    St. Mary . . .

"But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons." Gal.4:4-5 So Jesus was sent by God. He was 'born of woman' which means he was a man, as man is born of woman. Job...

    St. Mary . . .

Praying to Mary is worshipping Mary. Making statues and graven images of Mary is idolatry. In what sense can Mary be a role model? She believed the angel? OK What else did she do? She raised the child. So women should raise children? OK Perhaps a role model for women. Paul said, 1 Timothy 2:15...

    St. Mary . . .

The angel said Mary would conceive and bear a son and the child would be great, the Son of the Most High. The Bible says that which was conceived in her was of the Holy Spirit, (therefore not necessarily of Mary though technically she was his mother.) The members of the church are likewise born...

    St. Mary . . .

Not only that but he's saying Mary is the mother of the church. Christians are born of Mary.

    St. Mary . . .

The Bible doesn't say Jesus was the only child. That would contradict Mt. 13:55

    St. Mary . . .

According to the Bible, Zechariah was a believer. Elizabeth was a believer, Joseph was a believer. Mary was a believer. How about the prophets who prophesied his coming? How about David? How about Abraham? Do you suppose Mary exalted herself? Her own words, "Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord...
