How Important is it that You Attend Church?

Going to church... the church that we're referring to is just a building. There's nothing more to the building than walls and seats. We are the church and it is important to fellowship with other believers and learn the word. If you gather with some believers on a Tuesday night and learn the...

Born of Water and Born of Spirit to enter heaven

well I completely agree with this, that it is symbolic. Also Zeke note that the John Piper you quote doesn't believe (as my understanding) that if your not baptized you don't get to heaven but to be fully obedient to Jesus you need to be baptized. Therefore I would think that means that this...

Born of Water and Born of Spirit to enter heaven

Sooo.... What does saying 'you misunderstood' accomplish? Here's the thing. We as humans, can be wrong when it comes to what we're taught, or even what we read. This is not just directed to you zeke but to all of us who claim to absolutely positively 'know' all of the doctrines of the bible as...

Born of Water and Born of Spirit to enter heaven

This can also be symbolic. They were baptized by water and we into a different baptism. A baptism of the Holy Spirit. Also this does not say that we shouldn't be baptized, but to say that it saves us, is a bit far in my opinion.

    The Law

I ask this for someone to give me and educated guess on the matter. It's not to prove a point, it's trying to understand things more.

    The Law

So in essence, the spirit replaces the law? TO be honest I signed up on this forum so that I can try to get a better understanding of it. I was stuck in between both views. However you cleared it up a lot for me Jethro so at least 1 person got it!:clap

    The Law

One thing I do agree with here is the fact of understanding it in the context of the culture. What I'm finding is when you do, there a lot of things that were misinterpreted by Paul. Also, Drew , what's your sources of understanding from the Jewish culture?

    The Law

Not to change the topic at all, but a question and I think something to consider.. If Adam never sinned, would he follow a law or a set of rules? If he did, would it be the same Torah or law of God? Therefore if he never sinned would we be following the same law?

Born of Water and Born of Spirit to enter heaven

I may be reaching here, but nowhere in the NT does it say anything absent of baptism is condemnation. Anything absent of faith is condemnation. To be honest, I've done a lot of research on this and reading of the scriptures and I can see where both sides come from. I guess the bottom line is...

    The Law

This is very true. So how is it then, that Christians dismiss the Sabbath altogether?

Born of Water and Born of Spirit to enter heaven

Sorry if I'm being redundant here in anyway or asking any dumb questions, but.. Are you saying that the person isn't actually saved until baptism? What about the guy on the cross that Jesus said would enter the kingdom but wasn't baptized? What about all the times that Paul said if you...

Born of Water and Born of Spirit to enter heaven

Ok, what's the truth to you?

Born of Water and Born of Spirit to enter heaven

So according to this those who believe , repent and ask God to save but aren't baptized go to hell?
