MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. – Frances Moore was hired to help out for the holidays at an Alabama jewelry store in 1939 and she's still there.

The 93-year-old Birmingham woman is celebrating 75 years as an employee of the family-owned Bromberg & Co. She's the longest-tenured employee at one of the nation's oldest family-owned retailers.

Moore, then a teenager, was hired to polish silver on Nov. 21, 1939. By around 1970, she was managing Bromberg's multimillion-dollar jewelry inventory.

Moore says her parents taught her to work hard and Bromberg's is a good employer, so she never left. She retired from full-time work a few years ago but still comes in to sort and tag jewelry.

Bromberg's President Ricky Bromberg says Moore is still a valued employee. The company honored her with a breakfast Friday.

That sounds like a company for which I would prefer to work. They care !

Good for Ms Moore for keeping active! She was taught a valuable skill (working hard) and maintained her work ethic throughout the years.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Kathi !

I thought my grandpa worked for uniroyal tire and steel was a lengthy period , its not.

Exactly. That is somewhat rare now days.A lady worked where I used to and she was 73 years old.The supervisor was always hassling her "When are you going to quit?".

That is a great story Kathi! I think people that continue to work past retirement age probably live longer too.

It is very healthy to remain active physically and mentally when you get older.

75 more years and she gets a gold pen.
What else do you think she should have gotten at 93?A trip to Bermuda?
