and they wouldn't be ready for squat. we live in a dark world. at best we can somewhat shield them from sin. but they will be found and tempted by satan. I was a virgin until I entered the army.

Gee.... You too?

Not really. Mainly because (as we "Christians" are supposed to be doing), he understood and accepted what his father considered a just discipline that would reach him where he lived.

We can all sit here, armchair quarterbacking, and utter a lot of irrelevant conjecture, both ways, but none of us know the father's intent, nor the boy's particular responsive needs.
Good point Willie, but there is no guarantee that a future employer will be a Christian or perceive the video in a positive way. Then there is the possibility that the video will make the boy more likely to be employed by a Christian...got me thinking anyway.

jasonc i know my parents could not control me... big surprise huh? I did respect the freedom given to me... # 21 was just being silly...

I wish it wasn't the truth, but I have seen a path Nathan my take and I may not much control nor ability to stop it. we cant even really control ourselves at times.

TOG
Any parent who takes pleasure in humiliating their child I believe is a sick person. This is not something one does simply because 'that is just the way they are.' No child deserves to be the object of their parent's destructive personality.

I don't think she got any pleasure out of it. Most likely it was just thoughtlessness. I'm a middle child, and like many middle children, I always got less attention and more blame than my siblings.

I grew up with an older sister who NEVER lied to mom and dad... and 3 younger brothers... some one had to be the 'classic' PK me :tongue

Oh I am really glad to hear it was not deliberate.

I was a middle child for most of my childhood, older stepsister that could do no wrong in her daddy's eyes, and a sister 4 yrs younger.
After we were adults my stepsister apologized to me for letting me be punished for what she had done. She never lied and blamed me, she just didn't tell the truth when asked if she had been the culprit. I learned two lessons from that, it's really wrong to lie and to stand my ground and never admit to something I hadn't done no matter what the punishment would be.
