Adam & Eve & Rom.5:20

the law entered that the offense might abound.
Eve knew God could be trusted. He never gave her any reason not to trust Him.

Eve didn't understand that transgression can't be forgiven unless one sees the extent of the damage it can cause because ones' eyes are open to good and evil, true love vs. not true love, what the law that came later showed and still does and will forever.

The letter of the law that condemns all, was 1st spoken by and kept by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He proved by His own death that He'd rather die than see anyone lost but He can never really die, so the 2nd half of Rom.5:20,

But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.....

When Eve learned that disobeying God is actually sinful, he told her that her pain in bearing children would increase.

I can't even imagine the pain a woman feels having a baby, but God is not only speaking of women having babies, but Eve as the church. In quoting Gen.2:24 Paul said,

This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Eph.5:32 KJV

Then Paul says of women in the congregations,

but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression, but she shall be saved through her child-bearing, 1Tim.2:14 ASV

Then of himself he says,

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, Gal.4:19 KJV

Paul was speaking of being persecuted for winning souls to Christ. So the 2nd half of
-Tim.2:14

if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety. ASV

Now to bear fruit we must abide in Christ,

So altogether Paul is teaching that in Genesis, God told Eve that she would go out into the world and be a witness for Him and suffer because of it. our first mother definitely understood the gospel. God had things to say to Adam too.

Adam became a member of the church also, one with his wife on earth.

God never cursed Adam. God cursed the ground for Adams' sake.
This is significant because the ground which once produced only good stuff, would now bring thorns.....

Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching:
“Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And it happened, as he sowed, that some.....seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.....Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Mk.4:1-4,7,18-19 NLT

So our Savior told Adam that knowing good and evil was going to cause a lot of trouble between his offspring and here we are.

And about the fourth person in the garden the devil God said,

So the LORD God said to the serpent:

“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
Gen.3:14-15

So the devil is cursed. And the ground is cursed. The ground which cared more about the riches this world is cursed, along with very hard round and stony type ground.

But the good ground is the ground that listened as great grandpa Adam and great grandma Eve taught the gospel. 😊
