I actually didn't know this before. Last night I looked up the reason why fireflies light up (besides the fact that I believe that God designed them that way) and I found this response. I wonder if anybody else knew this. It's actually rather amazing to find out that there are still so many different things out there that we don't know. :yes

It is interesting how much we still don't know. I love when scientists can explain these complex chemical reactions. Reminds me of the bombardier beetle (think I spelled that right). God definitely designed his creatures to each be unique!

I know right? God designed each and everything that we see today, all science can do is look at all of His blueprints to try and explain it.

the local cat experiment place ,lol is where they research these things. mostly mosquitoes.

Cool! I wouldn't want to research mosquitoes though, I've had enough bites already to last me a lifetime. (unless they research dead ones that is)

The synchnized fireflies of the Smokey Mountains are unique though....they light up in unison. Getting tickets for them is done by lottery. Kinda weird but unique.
