I typed you this REALLY LONG reply yesterday and lost it. When I hit submit, I got the page cannot be displayed page and when I hit back, it was gone. Grrrrr....!!!! I was having a really down day yesterday, but I'm ok now!

I posted pretty much the same thing on another forum, so here:

I feel like a big failure. I am dropping my A&P class tomorrow. I'm failing something awful and me driving back and forth is just a waste of gas. I have my books, can continue studying and hopefully get through it easily in the fall with a new instructor. I just feel like a failure though. I don't know what to do right now. I've spent the day calling around about CNA I classes. I can pay $300 and start them next Tuesday and it will only take 5 weeks. OR I can pay $65 and not start until August and will finish in November. Do I wait and get it much cheaper but it take longer? Or do I spend the money and get it over with?

I'm also torn on the nursing. I had decided that I was going to go for my LPN first. Well, they are phasing them out and using CNA II's. They start them at $12-$15/hr IN HOSPITALS. That's pretty good considering a lot of hospitals in other states don't hire them. Some of the doctors offices are hiring CNA II's (after working at the hospital for a year) also.

I just feel so confused!

You know what else? I feel so at home at the kids school and have had so many people tell me that I should go into teaching or teachers assistant. Sometimes I wonder if THAT is my calling. I don't know What to do!!!!! I'm 28 years old....I should know by now what I want to do with my life, you know?

I'm still sick. Still have congestion, but I know the antibiotics are still at work. (For those that didn't know, I had the flu and it turned into pneumonia. The doctor blames the weather....73 degrees one day and then 30 the next).

I think between failing the class, not feeling good, confused about my life, etc....it's all just getting to me. :o(

Im's sorry to hear about how rough life is being for you lately. God will work out your schooling. As for your calling, pray about it. I wish I had some answers for you, but all I can do now is pray for you. Which I will most certainly do. 8-)

Become a LPN and then bridge to the RN. I have seen many people do it. What is a CNA II", they don't have them in Kansas, you are either a CNA(same as a tech),LPN or RN. Only LPN's and RN's can give meds and certain procedures.

ok i don't know what CNA or LPN mean but i'll pray for you most definetly. I hate to see all this happen to u Nikki. u'r such a nice person!

I’m sorry for your troubles Nikki. Just so you know…YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. I will pray for you my dear sister-in-Christ.

CNA II's are taking a lot of the LPN's spaces. They are pretty much the same thing....just less pay (which is why the demand is higher for CNA II's...they are trying to get out cheaper of course). They now have CNA II's in the OR and even in Labor and Delivery. They're everywhere! So, why go for my LPN is they're just going to make me get my CNA II? It's all so confusing! I'm not in this for the money. I don't HAVE to work, but I want to. I'm sick of being stuck at home all the time. I'm a people person and sitting home while my hubby sleeps (he works 3rd shift) is not all fun.

I'll figure it all out. I guess it will just take time. I've decided to continue down the Nursing path. I'm going to take small steps though. Instead of investing 2 years of my time into the ADN program, I'm going to just go for my CNA's first and make sure that this is where i want to continue. If not, then I'll try the teaching path because I really do love being with the kids at the school. I was there today....the kids were taking nap and when I walked into the class, they all jumped up and came running to hug me. THAT is a GREAt feeling! I know that helping others in a hospital will be just a rewarding though. It's just so confusing!!! ARGH!!!

Thank you so much everyone! Your words and prayers mean so much. I'm ok, I just need to figure my life out. I guess I really won't know until I get a chance to TRY it. I've worked in a nursing home (when I was in high school and in the Health Occupations class). That's the closest experience I've had in a medical setting.

As for teaching, I don't know. I don't think I would want to be a TEACHER, but I know I would love being a teachers assistant. If only I could be each for a week....*sigh*. Maybe then I could figure it out.

For the time being, I'm going to work towards my CNA certification so I can being my CNA II classes. I'm hoping that I can find a CNA class that is a lot cheaper than the $300 that starts before August. My friend/neighbor is a nurse and she's going to ask around at work tonight.

Well I've pretty much been busy on my project and an essay, in addition to my regular school work. My project is working with a career mentor for our chosen dream job, and mine is writing. So I've been working on that a lot, I haven't even really done any new poems lately. But fortunately, I'm wrapping both of them up and I'm getting ready for finals in the next couple of weeks. My essay is pretty much done, but after I do some more touch ups I'll try to post it here in the 'ah!!! paper!' thread.

But Nikki, you're in my prayers. I remember that we were both having troubles with classes at the same time. And ironically we're both trying to figure out if our original major is what we still want to do. But again, you're still in my prayers and I hope you gain the answers that you seek. And like others have said, you're in no way a failure. Life is a journey, and we learn new things about the world and ourselves constantly. I'm sorry you're sick, I see you're from NC as well. Yep, that's typical NC weather, especially here. My parents are sick as well, and everyone at school is under the weather. So you're not alone. I pray that you feel better.

I can't wait to read your paper! Make sure you post it.

I will pray for you also that you can figure out exactly what you want to do in life. It's so confusing at times, isn't it?

I feel a LOT better today. Prayer works! Although, now my 5 year old has Chicken pox. :-? It's always something! She's got such a mild case of it though and is acting completely fine. The only thing different is that she usually eats a lot and she's not eating hardly at all. Oh well...I'd rather her get this as a kid than as an adult. EVERYONE around here is getting sick though. Today we had temps in the upper 30's-low 40's. What a shock after a few days of 70's! It's crazy. It does this every year and every year, we all get sick. I hope you don't catch all that's going around. I'm hoping that I got my yearly sickness out of the way.

Jacksonville is close to the coast, isn't it? I've lived here for 18 years and my husband was born in Greensboro, so he's lived here all his life....but neither of us have been to the NC coast. Got any recommendations?

TTYL!

Hey Nikki, hmm if I could make a recommendation(s): One would be Captain Bill's. It's a restaurant right on the water. They have boats in docks right next to it. And you can watch the birds fly by as you eat, and look out at the scenery. But more importantly the food is great; if you like seafood it's awesome. If you don't, they have other dishes as well. All of them are tasty. They even have a nice gift shop that has awesome little collectibles and candy and whatnot.

But besides that, I'd just say to head out to the beaches and have a great time. And also, you could visit Fort Macon if you've never been there. They have a beach there as well if I remember correctly, so you get some history and some waves, all near each other. Also, on highway 24 (heading through Jville and going towards Swansboro) they have hammocks park where you can take a ferry and whatnot, or you can just sit down and hang out at the picnic tables that are next to the water. They even have a place that has rocking chairs where you can just sit and enjoy the breeze.

But besides that, you can visit http://www.nccoast.com/. I looked it up last night, it talks about all the different places you can go on the coast. Everything from descriptions of different places, to different activities, even hotels I think. So that place has a lot of info. If you and your family go, I hope you guys have a great time! Oh and yeah, Jacksonville is sorta close to the coast. I'd say that we're more or less 30 min to an hr away. Depending on where you want to go.
