Atheists

I really hate that group. Every time I hear about them it's news about them suing someone or some school, or trying to agitate the community because of religous activity actually being done and accepted in the public sphere. This group reminds of of the secular version of the Westbro Church.

Worse still, they count themselves as a non profit charity.

What amazes me about atheist is that they say they do not believe there is a God, but they sure do love to get into discussions about Him as they do recognize His name. Atheist will even quote twisted scripture to prove their point being ignorant of what it means..............go figure!!!

2Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
2Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

My oldest son is almost one. he did 21 years in jail, and he has that what has God ever done for me attitude. Now his wife is a born again Christian. The only thing that I can do is pray for him. He has been home almost 3 years and has a lovely new wife had a wedding that cost almost 15 to 20,000 bucks, a nice job just got a SUV lives in his mother in-laws duplex and all he has to do is pay for electric and gas. So he can't tell me that God is not looking out for him, or is it because of his wife, that God is looking out ? When he was in jail he would tell us don't mention God to him and when he got out his sister who is a born again Christian, was talking to him about God and he went off on her, and I had to get with him about that as well as my mother. Now my other son is a born again Christian.

I think it is harder to talk to your own family about God then it is a stranger. I have a brother like that and all we can do is plant the seed of Gods word and pray that it will take root. Many try to force Christ on a person, but that usually only drives them further away. Will keep your son in my prayers.

Lewis,
With all due respect, what you've just described is an idol. You see, we make transactions with idols and a transactional relationship demands accountability in terms of blessings and curses, right and wrong. In other words, if life isn't treating me the way I think it should, then either I'm being punished by my idol, or I simply stop believing in the idol. When life is good, we automatically get the idea that we've won the approval of our idol.

If we learnt one thing from the OT, its that we can't earn the grace of our Lord and a transactional relationship can only serve to point to a dysfunctional relationship that must grow into a healthy servitude relationship were we walk with the Lord in our daily lives, regardless if we are in a valley or on top of a mountain.

Stove are you talking about the blessings that God has bestowed upon him in spite of or something else ?

I'm simply saying that he isn't looking at God in terms of relationship, and if he is, he may very well view his misfortunes in life as a punishment from God for his wrongdoings.
If I feel punished in a relationship, why would I stay in it?
Understand?

Got it, that clarification was right on the money.

Excellent. Now, you know him best so how do you show him Gods grace in terms that cause him NOT to view God as a tyrant looking to strike him down for every wrong he commits?

Well I always knew that it would be through the life that I live, and also his wife and others that he is around that is saved. In many cases the life that you live is appealing, let the light of Jesus shine through you.

Even though I'm in the non believer crowd, I'm with you on this. Why do i care? Why do I feel the need to push my non belief on others? Why do I need to constantly preach about how Christianity is just as bad or worse than Muslim extremism due to their "history"?
I could go on and on. I find it completely ridiculous and it kinda pisses me off.
If it gives you peace and harms no one else then rock on my friends!
I won't bash it.

Edit...sorry I screwed up the post I was quoting!
