Bodyguards for the preacher

I recently went to a mega church where the preacher had a personal body guard. I know of at least one other church in our area where certain members of the staff carry pistols.

And when we visited IHOP in KC, they had a "church" police department, complete with uniforms and marked cars (at least one).

When did this stuff start up, and why?

Body guard? that is actually funny.Can you imagine Jesus Christ who spread the Word to many having a body guard?

because some might harm them? so when im in uniform and if was a chaplain in a muslim state. tell my chaplain assistant he cant carry? a chaplain can NOT fire a weapon, he cant carry one at all.

Maybe because those preachers have been threatened with their life. Also, there are probably crazies in the crowd who treat them like movie stars.

Good point. We have pastors here with mega churches who have helicopters and use it to fly back and forth between churches.

Some make way too much money.

bob coy had one. so did chuck smith. before coy fell into sin and repented he hardly wasn't one of those.im sure billy graham has them too. we do live in an evil world. a muslim wouldn't take them out?

I wasn't kidding, although I have since googled him. He wore black on behalf of the poor and hungry, that is what stuck out to me in all I read.

The one I mentioned that I went to this past Sunday is Baptist. I don't think they are much into that. Very definitely into money, but not preaching about it.

The church I've been visiting has body guards. Complete with ear pieces like the secret service.

I'm on the fence about the issue. The poor widow is on her own, but the pastor gets personal protection.

Kids! What can I say. Maybe we have failed them by not teaching proper musical appreciation.
